Thank you for the comment and your support! RUclips is just a part of my hobby. I don't purchase views, subscribers, or any promotions. If I have something to share or show to people, I do so, if not, I don't. Besides, I believe this type of content isn't super popular nowadays. I think if I posted videos of my weekend falls from mountain bike riding on some crazy trails, I'd gain way more views. Because people prefer to be entertained rather than to learn something.

Great video sir 🌹 , first of all I'd like to thanks you for everythings you make it in this channel, my question is if I have one of this in the video how can I update it via firmware? because it's not into the pc, the second question, can I use it with a smartphone? for example s24 ultra or iPhone 15 pro max, thanks so much

Thank you for the comment! Yes, both of those enclosures work perfectly with all modern smartphones and tablets, I've checked it. Especially convenient is the one with a male USB-C connector so you can directly plug it into your device. Not sure what you meant about firmware updates. If you're referring to updating the SSD's firmware, then it's only possible on a PC, you can't update SSD firmware via USB as it should be connected only to an M.2 slot. If you're asking about updating the enclosure's firmware, then it's possible, but for such simple devices, I don't think there will be any updates. Those devices simply don't need them.

Yes sir I mean update of ssd M.2 if I can do it from the usb case or if I have a solution by an adapter out side of the pc that's the point 👍

When I saw the thumbnail I was thinking the same thing "I can upgrade that ugly 2230 and use it as a spare" nice! On one hand though wondering about how much throttle in comparison to drive, enclosure, and supported protocols (TB4, y'know?) But I really don't think me or majority of people would need a faster external. Usually we just prioritize large portable storage. Nvme alone is already a plus. Little concerned about the size of the enclosure for laptops that have these ports side by side thereby getting blocked. A corded one might be more ideal, maybe via an adapter? (male to female?)

I constantly keep connected to my laptop a short USB-C male to female cable and use it for all USB drives and devices that I connect very often to my laptop. This is because USB-C ports are very fragile and don't last long. If something happens to that cable, I'll just throw it away. If the port gets damaged, that's at least half an hour of work for me to replace the port. Plus it's very convenient in some cases, like the one you described in the comment.

I bought the Simplecom SE528 for my girlfriend, the body is all metal, and it is 20GBPS, the one in this video is half plastic and only 10GBPS, I am a bit surprised that Sabrent do not have a better one. Either way, I believe these are a better idea than a typical external drive, since you can easily change the drive itself.
Simplecom now have the SE640 which is USB4 (40GBPS), the USB ones may have heat issues though

I guess, different people prioritize various factors when choosing an SSD enclosure, such as design, speed, and additional features. As a technician, I prefer the Sabrent enclosure for its versatility and ease of use. You can quickly connect any M.2 SSD regardless of size or interface, which is beneficial for fast data backup and recovery, as well as SSD cloning. Its tool-less design and built-in thermal pad add convenience.

@@ElectronicsComputersNo doubt. I would guess most people would prefer speed though and would just be using these as a portable drive, or expansion, rarely, or never changing the drive itself. The body of the Simplecom SE528 is predominantly aluminium heatsink, which I would always choose over a plastic enclosure. It also comes with a thermal pad and copper heatsink. I have 5 M.2 2280's in the house, and see no reason to buy any other type/size. It would be different as a tech, where the ability to house different drives would be a major benefit.
