Celes: Sabin!! You're alive!! Sabin: (laughing) But of course! You think a minor thing like the end of the world was gonna do me in? Celes: I thought everyone was gone. I had given up all hope. But... fortunately I was wrong! Now I know they're all alive! We need to find everyone! Then... Sabin: I know, I know. We smash Kefka, and deliver peace unto the world. That moment, accompanied by the Figaro theme, makes me cry every time. Sabin was EXACTLY who Celes needed to see to renew her hope, the gentle giant with the big heart who's the fucking rock of the team. God, Final Fantasy 6 really is the fucking GOAT.
"I'll give you 3 reasons to like this music: First of all, this music has captivated me! Second... I'm dying to hear this over and over again... I guess your... orchestral remix abilities... would be a distant third."
+Matt Darrock I always get that same feeling when I hear high quality remakes of classic video game music. That's the main reason I started doing these. I'm glad you like them! :)
When I heard this version, not only did it bring me back to the days of me playing this and singing along with the theme, but my hair stood up on end which gave me the goosebumps. The best RPG game of all time.
ABSOLUTE SPOT ON and so epic.... I am glad I have found your excellent exquisite masterpiece's of work. Nobuo would be stunned and proud if he ever hears this greatness!!!! Malcolm The Great should be your name!!!!
While I do appreciate the 16-bit goodness, there's just something about hearing this piece orchestrated that makes it sound more regal, which is what generally makes castle themes great.
What's particularly brilliant about this arrangement is how you've kept all of the original harmonies going throughout, so rather than just being a simple orchestral version it is a true-to-form arrangement. Very nice work on one of the best FF themes :)
Lee McNamara Thanks so much! I felt that the original was pretty much perfect, so I decided to make my arrangement as close to the original as possible. I sometimes add extra percussion, harmonies, or transitions, but for this one I only added the ending. Now that I listen to it again, I think I could have made the trumpets sound a little more realistic. I'll probably have another go at it in a couple years.
Dude u can easily tell the difference.... This 1 is wayyy better. This man puts effort into these, not clowning anybody else's work, just that this is what most of us wanted these soundtracks to sound like from 8bit tech, and he made it happen. Subscribe and support.
Listening to this is a trowback a couple years ago when I wanted to know why the FF7 vs FF6 discussion was about, and now a couple years later Edgar and Mash/Sabin are still up there with my favorite FF characters Not to metion the kick ass theme for their kingdom
Quando joguei esse game na versão de gameboy tava nessa parte antes de meus pais terminarem, agora esse som só me lembra essa época. Ótima música ótimas lembranças.
Lisdop I had been dying to do this theme for a while. It ended up taking a lot longer than I expected, but I think it was worth it. I'm glad you like it!
If you want a good cover of Dancing Mad listen to the Distant Worlds covers, and if you don't like the Distant Worlds 2 cover, there is another cover by Distant Worlds that doesn't use the electric guitar and stays solely a symphony orchestra piece. I would have sworn... hell I STILL do swear it was on Distant Worlds 3, but apparently I'm remembering incorrectly, and it's blowing my f**king mind. Regardless, there IS a cover of Dancing Mad performed lived by a professional symphony orchestra and it's amazing.
Maaan, shadows theme, coin song, i can just imagine the songs. that you will do :D. Maybe finally see a slight personal touch to setzers theme that makes it better lol
+ryokoshii I can't wait to do Coin Song! I'm still not sure whether I'll end up doing Setzer's theme though. In fact, choosing which tracks to remake and which ones to skip is a really tough job for FF6.
Coin Song, Shadow's Theme, Celes Theme, Gogo Theme, Dancing mad, Slam shuffle ( so underrated), and dancing mad at least. :P if theres others up to you i mean the opera is a hit or miss since its difficult so n o worries there :D
+ryokoshii My plan is to do 30 tracks in total for FF6 divided in two cover albums. My stuff will always be free on RUclips, but I like the idea of releasing cover albums because it gives me specific goals to work towards. I have a sort of temporary list of the 30 tracks, but I won't paste it here because I'm sure it's going to change just like my Chrono Trigger list did. I intentionally left the Opera tracks off the list because I'm going to do a mini album for them some day in the far future when I figure out a way to do them (hired opera vocals? pure instrumental?).
Do you have plans on doing more from Final Fantasy VI? If you do, could you take a look at "From That Day On"? You're really good at capturing the intended feelings/emotions from the original compositions and this one in particular I'd like to see done right. Thanks for all the great work!
you wont be disappointment, my first ff game and the best for me indeed, although the ff6 gba version have some extras, i think the super nintendo version is better in the music area, but if you wanna taste the very best you should try the ff6 gba fixed on an emulator.... it has the dark and creepy colors what makes the ff6 snes version shine and of course the music :)
Oh my God, I can truly see the Figaro Castle in the music. This is so perfect, just like the rest of your work! *ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED : Subscribing Dragons - 100G*
Why does every remaster of this, including this one, cut the trumpets off too quickly in the first measure? The original cuts them off only starting with the second.
Gawr Gura “sang” this and Oozora Subaru played this (private due to no permission at the time and still is). I hope other Hololive members can stream FFVI one day.
Colin Roan I really want to do Dancing Mad. I've thought about it a lot and I have a pretty good idea of how I would do it. What I'm not sure about is when the right time to make it would be. I'll probably end up doing it sometime in 2016, but maybe sooner.
hey, the good thing about Orchestrations is its never too late for em, people love that shit. Especially if they hit the nostalgia spot too. Which you do a good job at man.

Alex K At the time I made this, the only orchestral percussion sample library I had was from the old "EWQL Symphonic Orchestra" set, which is a little out of date and limited in its flexibility. Since then, I bought the company's new "Hollywood Orchestral Percussion" library which is far better and more detailed. It has both hard mallet and felt mallet options for timpani. I actually found the option a little confusing at first and didn't use the hard mallets much, but I'll try them out more in the future. As a non-percussionist, any feedback is helpful. :)
Malcolm Robinson Music Yeah, for a piece like this, I personally feel like hard mallets might suit the timpani part better. I would dislike this as a fanmade, cheapo "Synthetic orchestra" but I also know fans can do stuff like Sonic Boom. While not on that level I was genuinely, positively surprised after clicking the video thumbnail to find this rendition that is synthesized - to the very same manner as the original is on SNES but with more oomph in the available instruments making it sound like fanmade remaster, possibly being synthesized on the fly by better music engine in a better version. It is not as genuine or impressive as unearthed studio quality Donkey Kong Country music originals but in my mind this fits into fan made masterpiece, both upgrading and staying true to original through use of the machinized orchestra for the machinized castle.

This is fantastic!
Thank you for making such an epic cover of this theme!
