I have tried different solutions to make custom tails lights. 3d printer, small cnc, and assembly. It takes a lot of different things to make what you want sometimes.
Agreed. You already have all the electronics placements. An easy custom board can even connect to the can b us and update patterns later! Or use one of the already sequential leds (cheaper), but once you have a system in place, you can reuse it with other cars AND charge more - and perhaps each time when customer wants new pattern.

I use an leds joined in series connected to an Arduino. Then I just code the sequentiality.

Since the Arduino is a 5v microcontroller how do you integrate it into a car which rubs 12v? I’m not too good just that stuff lol

I guess you'd have to individually cut the power connection between the LED strips and wire them directly to the controller individually
Each led must be individually addressed. Most people would probably use Arduino.
