I wanted a chandelier over my tub but my contractor said that is so dangerous (electric shock) and hardily recommended against it. I had him mount it in the center of the room and it looks beautiful.
If you have a chandelier over a tub, it needs to be high enough so a person cannot reach it while standing in the tub. This is per code. Most ceilings are not high enough to have a chandelier and comply with code.
