Nice, quick, easy video to make up for the one I missed last week!
Cotter pins! Sometimes they can be a right pain to remove, sometimes, they come out without any bother. This video shows the way that I’ve found works best.
Make sure to check the link at the end for a video on how to remove a stuck / rounded / mushroomed cotter pin.

An old post, yet this deserves to be known by all cycle mechanics/ restorers.....
Save the spacer washer used on the drive side of older freewheel blocks axles and use it to pop over the unthreaded end of the cotter, tape on if need to. Now offer up the entire bike onto your bench vise, carefully locating the cotter arrangement in the middle of the vice jaws. Tighten jaws and the pin will pop with an exquisite release that is beyond description, really. Please share this joy. 🙏

I'm assuming that's the larger, let's say 10-20mm spacers that you're on about? Top tip.

@@MonkeyShred I've just measured my spare one for you : it's just over ten millimetres internal diameter, and sixteen millimetres in length ; if you have ever seen such a spacer washer you will not forget it. Some restorers recommend using a socket to fit over the end of the cotter , which will work, but honestly, this is way neater. And it's hardened too. 🚴

A Raleigh dealer I worked for learned this from a visit to the Raleigh factory- Put the large end of the pin in a slightly bigger gap of a good big old vice. Hold the frame perpendicular to the floor and pound it out with a big punch. If it mushrooms or bends -pound it laterally until bent portion breaks off then bash it out. After dozens of times - it ought to take you a minute or so. Cheers

I think there are specific BB spanners for a cup like that drive side. Or you can use a big adjustable. Drive side unwinds clockwise on a Brtish threaded bike like this.
