    What a great show! And what an amazing coverage of the four days of this world famous dog show.
    Seven very beautiful dogs. I will not comment on the judging as I am not qualified to do that. However, I must admit that I did not get as thrilled as when Westie Geordie Girl won best in show last year. There was nothing fishy about Marie Burns's win, it was all well deserved. Marie's simplicity and genuineness were heartwarming.

    That's a pleasing result! I honestly didn't have a clear favorite here. I'm always partial to a Poodle, and that Mini-Pood is a handsome boy. Big congratulations. But I really liked Frosty Snowman the "Jeebeejeevee," the Lakeland, and the American Cocker ("Miami, Miami, you've got style...!") So two of my four faves got picked. Nice. =] Of course the Yorkie, Newfie, and OES are totally adorable and fine, fine dogs as well. But kudos to Miami! I love how his right ear is divided between black and white. xD Parti-coloring makes for some cool coat patterns.

    Some people on here are really ignorant about dogs. First, the American cocker spaniel is one of the most popular dogs in the US along with the Yorkie. The dog as a family pet is sweet and great with children. Their coats do not look like this, this dog is groomed from shows and breeding. My dogs had their coats shaved and we did not allow the hair to grown long on their ears. They are used as field dogs or gun dogs in the US. They flush out small game, like quail and many are trained to retrieve birds. They have soft mouths. This is a proper dog, most dogs are man made if you want to get specific. I have had many breeds of dogs, and by far the cocker spaniels we had were the easiest and friendliest. At the moment we have rescue dogs, seniors, one is a min pin and two poodle mixes. As much as I love them with all their quirks the min pin is very yappy and fiesty and I am not a fan of the poodle breed.All dogs were discarded because of age and medical conditions, regardless they are spoiled, however, I would not choose again these breeds.

    All I can say is that Jason is a lovely person, and after showing American Cockers, Toy Poodles, as well as a miniature poodle...Well if you think that because the judge had bred American Cockiers is anything compared to how lovely that Cocker is, you are an idiot with come sort of control problems, and no concept of the real rule of dog showing...the cream of the crop always rises to the top. Take a good look at the seven winners here, okay? They are all terrific wonderful examples of the show dog at its best. I am sick to death of the crooked accusation when I believe you don't know a thing about dogs, much less about showing them~ Well done, Jason AND Miami. Go go go!

    The Yorkshire Terrier did NOT win Best in Show at Westminster as the announcer stated. It actually took Best of Winners in the breed ring....which is by no means BIS. It's not even Best of Breed, which was won by Nancy Smith's dog "Karma Promise Key-Per".

    I didn't like the way the handler showed the American Cocker, and I'm not really fond on that dog either but I can't really say much since I don't know a lot about the breed... I just wouldn't have given it the BIS.
    Probably the best two dogs in my opinion would be the Poodle and the Lakeland Terrier, I would also have a hard time deciding which one should win, since we can't really see the full structure of the Poodle without touching it.
    Also, on a side note, I didn't like the Yorkshire Terrier much, but the lady that showed it was really taking care of little details.
    The coat of the Newfoundland looked pretty good too, a nice dog.
    And again, I really had a lot of fun watching Cruft, specially the sports, looking forward for next year :)

    • @g300d9
      @g300d9 7 лет назад +2

      Yes, the Japanese lady did a great job showing her Yorkie. I see her all the time here at shows in the US. Her dog is from Japanese stock, and this one is quite good structure wise. The coat was amazing, and the tri-gold facial hair was exquisite. The sire of this dog was a lovely American Champion, and in my humble opinion that certainly helped improve coat and structure for this breeder.

      Cocker spaniels, American, do not look like this. When they are working they are shaved. This coat is for show. Mine never looked like this, they were completely shaved because I live in the desert. I have also had poodles (rescue) and they were completely shaved as well. My cocker spaniel, one of them was elderly and we adopted her. She was obviously a field dog.

      A sight hound breeder judged Best in Show at Westminster. He picked the Scottish Deer hound, nobody accused him of being biased. I have owned 2 American cocker spaniels and they are the sweetest dogs I have ever had. They are used in the US as gun dogs, show dogs, and just sweet members of the family. They are also very smart. However, our dogs were not show dogs so did not have this coat, they were all shaved for comfort and coolness.

    The two ugliest dogs win, horrible handling of the cocker too.
    When will we see proper dogs actually get what they deserve?
    Its just who you know though, that handler had already won a couple of years ago, and the ''american cocker spaniel'' is not fit to function as a proper gun dog.

    • @badgerdax1763
      @badgerdax1763 7 лет назад +7

      The use of work is not the role of a show dog - in fact show breeds and working breeds have completely different anatomy. Don't forget that best in breeds are designed with the mind of appearance and not function; if you want to find competitions judging dogs on their athletic ability, look at the right competition; such as gun dog events, agility, flyball, and other active events.

      While I agree that show dogs need not be ideal for the jobs their breeds were originally designed for, aesthetic should not be prioritized over health. Any and all breeders, even those who prioritize aesthetics, should consider the health and quality of life of the dogs as their first and foremost priority. In my mind, any breed that is prone to Cherry Eye is victim of a skewing in that priority.

    • @wzukr
      @wzukr 7 лет назад +1

      badgerdax wrote " in fact show breeds and working breeds have completely different anatomy."
      I doubt that the standards mention or allow different anatomy for show or working dogs. At least not the FCI, AFAIK

      "Proper dog"? Doesn't have to be a boring old lab (no offense to the breed, just a good example) to be a healthy and happy dog. And when did they bark? These little dog stereotypes are getting old and just show how much you really know about them..

    • @muggensan8611
      @muggensan8611 7 лет назад +2

      i prefer a beautiful "boring" old lab , than dogs with ridiculous haircuts , look at the poodle... and the winner... a gun dog they say ? lol since when this ridiculously long haired dog has been in a field or hang around in a forest or wherever places wich would damage its precious fur... all of this is a stupid circus for posh grannies

    • @51Saffron
      @51Saffron 6 лет назад +2

      American cocker spaniels are gun dogs in the US. Your ignorance is amazing. This dog is groomed for a show, this is what is expected of them and what they are suppose to look like. Don't watch. I have had cocker spaniels, the American breed and they are amazing dog for either field work, gun dogs, show dogs or just a loving family pet. They do not yap either.

  • @lebowe385
    @lebowe385 6 лет назад

    a real dog should have won, the newfie or sheepdog....why do they always let the little rat dogs win???

    • @51Saffron
      @51Saffron 5 лет назад

      Because they are judged on their breed, not whether they are a "real" dog. They have to meet all the specifications of that breed and then you have to compare them with other breeds in the final. If you buy a pedigree dog for show they have to meet height, weight, conformation, muscular structure, color, head formation etc. Everything must be perfect. On that day judges thought the American cocker spaniel met all of these things, and it did. American cocker spaniels are not rat dogs they are field dogs. They are used here in the US, and the owner of the dog gave a one to a guy on a farm in England and said it could go all day.

  • @j.louisv.123

      Joe Vasquez the sheep dog looks even more ridiculous than the cocker. This ban on docking and cropping has ruined so many breeds. Animal rights nut jobs need to get a life. The Doberman was a really hard one to stomach. The Cocker was nice enough to get away with the tail.
