Wow guys, lovely transformation. It’s amazing what a good scrubbing and a bit of paint can do. I remember momma taking a “quality” pan off the top of the neighbors trash can. I was embarrassed… but learned a valuable lesson. Momma was on a $16 a week grocery budget raising a family of five. The neighbor bought the best of the best and tossed it in the trash because she was too lazy to scrub it. Momma took the pot in a scrubbed it up, I think she still uses today at the age of 83, it has served her well for close to 50 years… and still looks new.

I had a neighbor who shopped at the Limited and was my size. She didn’t donate her gently worn clothes, she tossed them in the garbage. Limited makes nice work clothes. I always got compliments on my wardrobe that was 80% dumpster finds.

8:13 Mom always said white walls are for people scared to make a decision. If she wanted light walls she'd choose the palest color on the color chip strip. Thank you for not using gray. There's a millionaire ex-couple on HGTV that does mostly everything in gray and I think their projects look like the poster child for depression, the mental illness, not the era.

You have to keep in mind that flippers are not designing houses for someone specific or for magazine beauty. It's proven that white and gray sell houses because anyone walking in the door can imagine putting their stamp on the blank slate. And if you watch multiple flipping shows on HGTV, you'll see how each show tweaks the "blank slate" to the buyers in that region. What sells like hotcakes in Southern CA might not move the same in Houston or Atlanta or Chicago, etc.

I happen to like that warmer gray color on my walls. I warm it up in Winter with poppy red and orange accessories, and when I'm ready for a Spring refresh, replace the red/orange palette with crisp white and yellow. For the Summer, this year I added royal blue, and in the fall, I am doing some turquoise, I think. I like variety, so the warmer neutral shade is great for me. Just saying that there are lots of different opinions, and I wouldn't push my choices on anyone.

I'm one of the heathens that actually doesn't mind gray - but I like it more as an accent/trim color to complement tones (pure hues with gray mixed in to give it a lighter, softer, more springlike feel) or in place of a cream (like off-white gray instead of off-white cream, still very very light and bright). Too much gray is definitely a no-go

Thank you, thank you, thank you for not going with the grays and the latest farmhouse trend. Real farmhouses never had that much white. I live in a 1927 model, it took us years to restore, but it's a real farmhouse. Two incubators in the bathroom, eggs in the kitchen, and milk bottles for the calves by the sink and whatever got brought in from the garden on the table. I recently bought my first home, a 1930's colonial. It's so true that you have to look past the dated decor and dirt. A cheery paint job works wonders, and thrifted art and furniture brings so much character to a room. I think we've only bought 3 items new - everything else was free or thrifted.

And we were so poor that I had to pay it out month by month. I couldn't restore it to original. It wasn't an expensive piece anyway. Not oak even. You all have done a great job with that house. It looks so cozy now. Have you ever used 1 qt of 3-percent hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda and a teaspoon of liquid dish soap mixed to spay on stuff that’s been sprayed by cats? It works on dogs that get sprayed by skunks as well 😉

Someone who hates gray… yes I love you even more!!!! I HATE the gray trend…I’m so sick of it!! Why do you want to live in rooms the color of concrete???

Growing up I couldn't comprehend why someone would want to wear grey clothes,my sister bought a grey outfit and I thought why ?but now I see the trend in my area that a lot of people are using grey siding with black trim and it looks nice.

People grew tired of beige. Grey was the new beige, but, yeah, a much lighter grey would've even been better! Some people choose grey as a neutral to add a pop of color w/their furniture to balance it out.

I don't want anything grey in my house. As I live on the southern oregon coast and we have enough grey days. Fog fog fog. Don't understand when I see people paint their houses grey. Really. Just look outside on foggy days. There, grey!

@@loritanner4478 I see your point about foggy days! 😉 Must be the opposite contrast here in Tucson, AZ, the sunniest city in the nation - grey (light greys) are still in-style here!

Beautiful home!! I do junker a necking (trash picking). I found an old fold up rocking chair plus a kitchen table that has a metal top and drawer in the middle and old wooden wheels.
