Only thing I would be ok with is the deathguard being locked out of the assault class and vanguard class, the World Eater being locked out of the heavy and sniper, and that’s it.
Best hope is they also include some generic armor pieces so you can still customize each class to not have the legion-specific armor bits like Khorne horns or Nurgle corruption, just like the first game. But if they don't want to go that route and insist on each class only having 1 armor set linked to only 1 legion, then the remaining traitor legions could be represented by new classes available to both factions, like chaplain- Word Bearers, apothecary- Emperor's Children, and librarian- Thousand Sons.
I get why they did this as chaos have unique looks which would make customisation unbalanced between traitor and loyalists but it’s still a bummer as I love night lords but don’t want to play assault and want to have more customisation between all classes and locking things behind classes feels a bit cheap, but the devs seem to implementing changes the fans have pointed out so I think it’s something they will change
@@jonthanechols6410 Ya. I was hoping to be able to make them like you can I. Co-op. But no. You can’t. You can change the colors to match the different legions. But nothing more.
@@Raptor-Omight I'm hoping they do change that. Might not be at launch but I have a feeling they'll rightfully get some criticism over that. There's no reason Chaos can't have the same level of customization.
@@jonthanechols6410 This is true. But who knows maybe it will change later done the line. But I don’t think it will make the game unplayable. It does limit what the player can do though.
@@Raptor-Omight Yeah. It isn't a dealbreaker at all, but hopefully people make a bit of a hoopla about it so it gets fixed post launch. I also do hope for Chaos marines to get their own Operations Mode content since in SM1 you could play as Chaos in Exterminatus mode due to DLC
Surely they could and should just make the 4 different legions (DG, TS, EC, WE) as 'Marks of Chaos' upgrade/perks, since they showed off a skill tree thing. Make them locked to specific classes, while the other legions aren't. So, like, Mark of Tzeentch would make a tactical loadout into a rubric, perhaps changing how you make the loadout and customisation, albeit limited. For instance, it could remove roll for that heavy jump, but give the class an upgraded 'inferno bolter'. Tactical could have access to DG, EC and WE as well, along with the main legions then. Assault could be limited to EC and WE, again changing how the class works slightly, depending on the Mark chosen. That way you don't have rubric raptors and stuff. I think they fear potential balance issues from having Chaos not mirror the Loyalists, so we got this instead, since they don't want us bending lore too much, even though they already have
LOVE YOUR IDEA!! But you are right, they did what they did for lore and balance reasons. I mean, you can't please everyone, but it still looks really fun.
Surely it would have been easier to just have generic non god-specific armor pieces that can be painted to look like any of the legions and not look silly like a Khorne berserker vanguard in Emperor's Children colors for example, then the legion specific armor sets would be just like the loyal chapter champions and locked to a specific class.
I think the reason they locked them to each class for now. Is they, much like the Loyalists in the ops mode. They are specific named characters they plan to use for Chaos ops and horde maps they may have planned later on. And I have a feeling when they reveal the Chaos ops/horde maps (possibly like I said) in a future update. That is when we will get to tinker with the Chaos customization. This first wave/year they focus on the Loyalist. Then they do the Traitors. SM1 had you playing as them during a map on Exterminatus after launch and fighting Imperium forces. Which they already have the assets for and would be foolish to not use as a technical "third faction" to fight. Something tells me this will be no different. And even the classes on the Loyalist side are named and are all Ultramarines no matter what skin/chapter we put on them.
@@khorne133 Fair point. Never did play sm1. But I know it’s good. I would like it if chaos over missions will be a thing. But we need to see later down the line. @@Raptor-Omight Obviously it's not a guarantee it'll happen. But if it was done in the first game they are more than likely to do it for the second. I imagine there are many people wanting to use their Traitor marines in more than just 1 game mode.
They can’t do us like that, I remember sm1 had good chaos customization, I bet it’s because this game is live service and they will probably drop chaos shit in one the seasons in my guess
@@Batlord_Carcas I hope so to. But it looks like it will only be giving to classes for each chaos legion. Each class is their own legion. Meanwhile loyalist can be any legion.
@@Batlord_Carcas Or maybe an area clearer class if they do noise marine. If I can come up with a class that can match a EC then I will make a video on it.
Probably have an alternate champion cosmetic pack for the heavy class, as while that's currently occupied by the iron warriors it would be very easy to slap on some noise marine styled bits, perhaps include a weapon skin that changes the plasma exterminator/cannon to look like a blastmaster with unique sounds and effects.
I mean, there's still customization with skins with each chaos class, the problem is that its still locked behind 1 legion's looks, i guess you can make it some of those skins look like diferent legions by changing the colors and changing some parts a bit
Yes. That is what they are going for. It does just limit what the player can do with them. But the idea is what if you don’t want or like playing let’s say vanguard. But you want to play the world eater. Well to bad. Can’t play him unless you are vanguard.
