    I am with you on the integrated rear lights, I would really like to know how BMW got away with those lights. I hope that all owners of BMW with that set up will hound them in surveys and social media posts. BMW NEEDS to be forced to change the tail lights and this all in one rear light should be outlawed.

    Was hoping to hear something about the "Mojave" name on the ezCAN but according to their website it is just a name, just like there is an ezCAN "Tagus" for my Triumph. Other ezCANs for other bike manufacturers don't seem to have pet names.

    Nice changes Teapot, a question about the sticky pads, did you put them on before or after the ceramic coating? I know that when paintwork has been ceramic coated then getting things to stick can be tricky, believe it’s because the ceramic coating fills all the microscopic indentations making the surface completely smooth hence nothing to grip onto.

    • @teapotone
      @teapotone  8 месяцев назад +1

      Aye I’d heard that too - I find stickers etc don’t do well at all, but these eaZigrip tank pads seem to have stuck brilliant.

    What's the bet BMW eventually goes back to the original set-up? That's why I bought a 2020 RS1250 instead of the latest model with integrated lights. What do you think about the latest from BMW on Replacement shaft drives?

    • @teapotone
      @teapotone  8 месяцев назад

      As I’m now a 1300 owner I’m obviously miffed I’ll have to pay for a replacement IF I keep the bike for that mileage. HOWEVER, I also think it’s good that they’ve identified an issue and done something about it, rather than put their head in the sands and keep quiet about it (which I’m sure other manufacturers have and would do).
      I also think it’s pretty amazing that they’re going to cover the cost of replacement drive shafts for all the 1200/1250 owners out there

    • @teapotone
      @teapotone  9 месяцев назад

      Hi Mike,
      I’ll turn the ignition on, but when I push the starter button, it sounds like the battery is flat and it won’t turn the engine over.
      I was having to wait over 30 seconds at times for the battery to ‘warm up’ before it would start.
      It went in for the starter relay recall and this seemed to fix it as the bike started first time for the first few days, however it’s started doing the same thing a few times now 🤦‍♂️
      I don’t use a charger👍

    Interesting video. Bit of a left field question here. The ceramic coating you had done, still working out well? I am trying to find someone local to me (NE Scotland) to do my fairly new bike, dry use only so far. But am not confident of using a company that doesn't specialise in bikes as I feel it would be a whole different job to a car. And none I can find come to you. Any wisdom to pass on? Thanks.

    • @teapotone
      @teapotone  8 месяцев назад

      Hello bud,
      Zero complaints about the Supershield Auto stuff. It does NOT mean you don’t need to clean your bike, you still need to keep it reasonably clean - the difference is you simply give it a quick hose down when you get back from a ride, and the bike is GLEAMING again.
      If you leave salt, dirt etc sitting on the bike for weeks, then it WILL still eat into the ceramic coating and leave marks, so just give it a quick rinse off and the job is done.
      Drop Pete a line at www.supershieldauto.co.uk and I’m sure he’ll be able to help you out in some way 👍

    Bruce, has there been any "rumbles" in the bike legal community about the legality of BMW's back light situation? I think that there's a question about the safety of the design and lack of forthought concerning the bleed from the blinkers/brake lights. Looking at this solution, BMW could have added this straight out of the box. There's no excuse for this.

      @@teapotone Legal Requirement. In almost all regions, having functioning brake lights is a legal requirement. Driving without them, or with faulty brake lights, could result in a fine or penalty points on your license. More importantly, it could endanger you, your passengers, and other road users. Although, technically they are there, they are not clear enough to deem them fit for purpose and therefore dangerous to other road users and the rider itself.

  • @StewartP45
    @StewartP45 9 месяцев назад +1

    Can't disagree that the rear light design is basically not fit for purpose in the real world and that it is pretty lousy that owners are having to fork out more money-on what is not a cheap bike in the first place- to improve their visibility to other road users. However I have seen the same type of issue mentioned with cars- some of the VW Golfs are complained about, with indicators being "drowned" out by brake lights- and I would say this is down to very poor type approval legislation on the part of the EU who draft and pass the requirements and laws. You have to ask why they now permit combined rear/brake/indicator lamps when it should be obvious that such a design is potentially compromised. ( Though BMW can't escape blame, they didn't HAVE to adopt this setup but opted to put form over function)
