I love how the ferry's got involved immediately. They were all heros saving people from freezing. Sully was the king for a day for sure. Amazing landing.
The plane struck a few birds while on take off. Which caused an engine failure. So as the initial speed of the plane was starting to gain momentum that time, it then suddenly dropped after the failure of the engines. This led the pilots to land in the nearby Hudson river. It's a really risky task, as it is a huge plane just to land on a single strech of the river immediately after takeoff. The pilots were truly heros!
This is true, and if they messed up, then the 37 ton airbus or 737 (I don’t remember what model it was) would’ve flipped upside down and everyone would’ve died.
@@i_had_3_pugs Why would it have flipped upside down w/o any engines...omg, you watch some of the recreations on The FlightChannel and you can't believe what people go through in some of those crashes.
This makes me cry. Everybody lived, everybody was safe, family got to hug family, strangers helped eachother, people came together. It makes my heart hurt with happiness!!
I believe the first officer, Jeff Skiles, said “I should get credit; I was the one who flew the plane into the birds!”. Last I heard of him was that he was a first officer on the 787 with American Airlines, which merged with us airways in 2013.
@@mgtowacademy8433 I have observed that Jeff Skiles is very witty and has a great sense of humour with perfect timing. Sully on the other hand seems like a buttoned up serious professional.

Its crazy how I was only 14 watching breakingnews with my mom at her house especially near a hometown street, Hudson ( that we valued) just seeing everything breakdown and being so worried...I even remember talking to my mum and asking her is everyone going to be okay
They didn't. They knew pretty early on that he was a hero and no investigation really ever took place besides what caused the crash, not whether he was wrong or not. The movie totally fabricated that entire situation. Which bothers me to this day.
They were very fortunate to have such a Capt. Thankful very much for his service to his country. As well as the skills he learnt while in service. With out his bravery and skill things that day would certainly been different!!
I remember my mom picking me up from school in 3rd grade and she had just been near the Hudson around the time it happened. She was telling me about it on the way home and I couldn’t believe it, and still remember getting home and watching it on the news for the rest of the day
samething I said yea don't dail 911 I'm sure the camera has spiderman's web power in the camera to grab the plane and pull it towards you people now in days it's like that everyone grabs there phone.
Nobody was able to duplicate what Sully was able to accomplish that day, even with many, many tries in a simulator by experienced pilots. That's why is was called a miracle, because it was.
Fun facts: If a plane is sealed off properly via the controls in the cockpit a plane can float for a short amount of time. This includes the rafts deployed to. Many dont realise they can do that. Also I feel every pilot needs to be trained for water landings.
