I think his death was so gruesome to give Arcee a traumatic backstory to give her certain personality traits and thought processes, and I definitely agree that the prime version of Cliffjumper went out the worst way.
He barely ever died, it's just 3 times out of the many incarnations of him where he actually died. Those being TF Prime, The Bumblebee movie, and IDW's War For Cybertron comic series during the Unicron Invasion arc.

I remember watching those tf4 video that were just images of predicted new characters for the film with some song playing in the background. Usually there would always be a white Cliffjumper present in those videos, so I was hyped thinking that there would legit be a new cliffjumper in tf4. I noticed Bayverse had a tendency to leave out characters who share the same body type as other characters such as Sunstreaker Thundercracker and Skywarp etc my guess is they wanted to use clone characters like the protoforms as cannon fodder but as for main characters they wanted each one to feel unique so Cliffjumper basically being a red version of Bumblebee and an Autobot would be a bit strange to see especially when they look identical from head to toe now Stinger on the other hand is a different case he was modeled after Bumblebee on purpose he was designed to be a better more improved version of him so he technically gets a pass for being a clone of our little yellow bug now you can argue Ratchet and Ironhide did share the same body type in G1 but they made sure to differentiate them heavily for Bayverse but Cliffjumper my only guess is that they couldn’t come up with a better design and just didn’t want to waste time and money repainting Bumblebee and calling him a new character if that makes sense
Cliff and Bumblebee bot had very unique heads and helmets, their similarities start at the neck but even their vehicle modes, personalities and main weapons were all different. This rule doesn't even apply since Skids and Mudflap both had similar body types but different heads, like Bee and Cliff, and the trio of Arcee Chromia and Elita-One were all the same mold with different colours and again, heads.
@@electricfeverx976 but another thing I noticed is that some Bayverse characters who share a similar body type all refer to each other as siblings however this is complicated because Optimus and Megatron are also referred to as siblings but they don’t really share a similar body type I did have a theory that the only way for Bayverse characters to refer to each other as brother or sister is for the robots to be built around the same time frame and I did theorize that characters who share the same body type are meant to be upgraded versions of the original so if Cliffjumper were to look slightly different than Bumblebee in Bayverse he would could be both his twin and an upgraded version of his brother

It's more like when friends call each other brother or bro type situation since Cybertronians don't have actual families. Megs calling Prime brother was more so cause of their closeness since they fought together to end the oppression on Cybertron but disagreed on the solution.

I like to think that he wasn't shown because he was in hiding, he was wounded badly in battle and began leaking energon, he eventually ran out of energon and went into a stasis lock (similar to jetfire)
I got a toy of Cliffjumper while my younger brother got Bumblebee. For the longest time I thought he was some kind of color variation like a Mortal Kombat skin until I heard his name years later in Transformers Prime. Then for many years I wonder why he’s not in Bayformers when there’s always a red variant of a Bumblebee action figure. They made Mirage red Sideswipe with the ROTF lineup and then brought him to life in DOTM like another Sideswipe.
