Thank you for showing your courage to live a life that is one you are happy with. I know the lovely Libelle Lyra is my happy home on the ocean now and I couldn't be more pleased. It fills me with admiration and inspiration to watch you, and while I`m bound into the fabric of the establishments idea of what my life should be for another couple of years, I`ll follow your dream until then because it echoes my own and builds my resolve to escape! Looking back on this trip, it was really amazing!! When Eryn felt sick or she was overwhelmed I’d be there for her!! When I got stressed about weather or storms she would sing !!! We really complement each other 😊🤗🌎🇦🇺
Hahah!! Yeah, no mod cons, not much in the way of safety gear. Squall after squall. I wish we filmed the knock down!!! I wasn’t thinking of the GoPro at the time 🌊🙄
Nice video! You are by far the most real sailing channel out here ;) But I've got one question; why don't you attach a downholer to your jibs? (a rope from the halyard to where the sail is attached to the jibboom, and then back to the ship) I am working as a professional sailor on traditional sailing ships and especially when seas are rough, it's such an advantage if you're able to pull the sail down from the deck. You only need to go into the net to the sail to the net (but you can choose not to, if the weather doesn't allow it)
Christel de Jong thanks !! The trouble is.... when we pull a sail down we have to go out on the bowsprit to attach another sail. We have a no1, no2 and storm sail connects to our cutter :-)
The wave was definitely more excitement that anyone needs at sea, nice running repair on the hank. You cannot have enough whipping twine and sail needles.
Unfortunately dried ginger wouldn't cut it! At times when it was really rough, we'd take these awful orange anti-nausea tablets (we can't remember the name for the life of us!)...other times we would adjust without any sickness whatsoever...and sometimes we'd be feeling fine for a few days when suddenly you get a confused ocean state (wind change, swell) and you're reaching for the orange tablets again!

Timelines are overrated anyway, aren't they? To be honest, I suspect the very concept of any sort of "consistent timeline" existing at all being a PR-hoax of some random attendance recording machine sales person. There are wind directions and current directions and there is a "forward" which would be the bow hitting a floatsam first, but timeline? Crude, not very thought through concept to say the least, ain't it? 😂😂😂 Have a ball!
There is Something magical about watching something being done that was done the same way thousands of years ago!
