Me and my wife are loyal Android users. For most of the stuff android is exceptionally versatile. However ,tablets are a dumpster fire. That's why we decided in getting the iPad Mini. Apple is light years ahead in the area of tablets. The Apple Pencil is incredible from what I've seen here so that's the next thing we'll get in the near future. Good review mate
I tried it out at the Mac store today. The screen is really responsive! I was so amazed!
Why do I fall in love with your writing style? feels like I want to download your writing like a font, lol
Microsoft actually have an app for that on Windows 10. They should add that in iPad OS 14
looks sloppy though lol
Great review! It is wonderful to see someone promoting the Mini 5 for productivity. Since the iPad first came out, I wanted one in the Mini's format. So I've only had Minis since they came out. With the 5 supporting the 1st gen pencil, I don't feel like I'm missing anything with the Mini, just the extra screen size, which is not worth the less portable and awkward sizes of the larger iPads. I run my proofreading business off my Mini 5. It feels like I'm holding a book, I can slip it into my purse, and, yes, it is great for using Goodnotes to take handwritten notes (and use digital planners!). My trick is to zoom in so I can feel like I'm writing at normal size and then when I zoom back out, I have perfectly legible small text, no worse than if I'm reading a paperback novel. Apple came out with some really great new features with iPad OS 14, including Scribble, which works brilliantly on my Mini. The only time I miss having the extra screen space is if I'm comparing documents. If I split the screen, I sometimes end up with text that is too small on both sides. My solution is to use my iPhone as a second screen for holding the document I want to compare. I bought an XR, which is extra long compared to other iPhones I looked at, so in landscape mode, it makes text super comfortable to read.
I love writing on the iPad! Especially for taking notes during my lecture classes :)
ProsperousLife is it not easier to write using the digital keyboard
hi! i was wondering what iPad you use, i'm currently trying to figure out which one i want for notetaking and i am not sure :( i keep seeing the iPad Pro is great but i honestly think it's expensive for me and I'm thinking about the iPad mini but i want a second opinion :)
Brianna Velasco I know this comment wasn’t for me but I recently bought the latest iPad mini and I’m currently using it Right now, it’s lightweight and compact and extremely easy to type and write notes on. Especially if you don’t want to spend ridiculous amounts of money. Hope this helped.
@@BVelAlex The regular budget ipad will do just fine. Ive been using it the past few semesters and love it, it has the same apps and 90% of the functions that the ipad pro has. I also have a few videos showing some apps I use on my iPad on my channel so you can see how I use it for note-taking. Hope I helped !
@@qob-vk7rl i welcome any replies! thank you for your insight :) i really appreciate it
This video convinced me to buy Apple Pencil for my iPad mini 5
Very calming voice which is some good ASMR material
Thanks for the most wanted video
I was thinking whether the iPad mini 5 good for taking notes because of its 7.9 inch size but after seeing your video it removed all my doubts
Hoping to get my first apple product a ipad mini 5 and apple pencil soon ❤️
Thank you very much... this is essentially the main reason i wanted to purchase this product and this has helped me make up my mind.
The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog
Just what I wanted to know about the new mini! Thanks for this and other excellent videos!
This is the best pen review that I need
I am buying this with my financial aid! For sure! Great investment 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
Thank you for your review. Most of people reviewed only on big iPad ie. iPad Pro, iPad Air. You proved that there’s nothing wrong using iPad Mini to take note. Also it’s a lot smaller than those two.
Yep the mini lineup is great for taking notes. I'm using mini 6 and it's great for note taking
Inspired to buy apple pencil for iPad mini 5. Thanks for the nice review.
Thanks ... Ive be waiting for long this video.. U did a perfect job...
I am surprised you didn't include Noteshelf 2. I have found this one to be better than GoodNotes 5. These two are better than all the rest.
What do you think about Notability ?
Great tutorial and review of the various applications. Well done!
Awesome video exactly what I was looking for thanks
What a great review with examples. This was really helpful! Thank you!!
Great review again. Thanks a lot!
I was about to buy this to estimate jobs. But the part u said “cant rest my hand on it”. Did the trick, guess I need a bigger one. Thank you very much for your help buddy.
Are you brilliant ! So much appreciate your review and its depth. Thank you !
I love my ipad mini 5 grey
NICE VIDEO! I NEED THIS
wow... i'll go out to buy that!! thanks for ur video :)
You writing is oddly pleasing
Thank you
I feel like i need an ipad for online school, so in watching this, lol
Same, I just bought the mini 5 lol
Jefferson Domingo Trust me, it’s useful
@@WWKL000 bro in mini 5 note taking us good very much some people are telling that having a small screen mini is not good for note taking
After one buys ipad there are more chances of playing games than studying
anupam singh Yeah, if you’re in 6th grade
Nice video, but if i can get some, suggest, I plan to buy a tablet for make a slide for presentation with ms. Power point, make some summary/note, editing PDF file, editing ms. Word/Excel file, and ETC. In short, i will use the tablet for my work as a law practitioners and study. So, which one would be more better for me? Ipad 2018 128gb / ipad mini 2019?
Of course, ipad mini can be use for longer than ipad 2018, but, is the ipad 2018 will still suitable to be used on 2022?
Is ipad mini still comfortable for writing even though have a small size?
Thanks
I’m watching this is my brand new iPad mini 5 lol
The Curious Kat yeah, it’s really nice! At first I didn’t know how to use it, but now it’s good 😄
Would you recommend this ipad mini for extensive reading? For PDF format. Comprehensive reading is likely what i’m going to be using it for. Also i would be using it for an alternative for my macbook air to take it to the library and copy notes from the ipad mini and write it in a paper because of professors requiring hard copy and hand written assignments, how is the ipad mini in that kind of situation? Is it hard to look at the tablet and write in a paper because of the 7.9 inch display? Thank you for the reply.
The size is slightly smaller than A5 sized sketchbook. Reading should be alright, just a bit smaller.
Teoh Yi Chie i’m a law student, so would you recommend the ipad mini? I’m going to be using it for reading very very long cases and also laws. I’m torn between the air and mini, i’m on a budget. Soo. Yea.
Kingson I have the mini and it works great. I’m also in school using it to take notes and etc 👍🏾
Is the screen big enough to take notes on Notability comfortably?
It will be more comfortable when you set the tablet on a tablet. If you are holding it in one hand, there isn’t a lot of space for you to rest you palm and write comfortably
This is a great year... iPad 2018, iPad Mini 2019, iPad Air 2019, Galaxy Tab A8.0 2019... so many tablet for artist! BTW, I'm going to get an iPad just for drawing comic and illustration, from start to finished pages, not just sketching (Apple Pencil + Procreate). I usually use Artisul D13 and PC... but recently I need to be more mobile. Which one should I get? iPad 2018 or iPad Mini 2019? iPad Air 2019 and Pro line is way over budget for me. Android doesn't have great drawing apps so I don't think I want a Galaxy Tab.
Perhaps the iPad 2018 since the screen is larger and more comfortable to work with
Anyar recommendation for free notes app on app store? Thanks
can you trynew Huawei Matebook E 2019 with pen?looks so great:)
boycool coolboy price too
thank you for your video! So, what app would you suggest for taking notes? (best in feeling, speed of response, other specs, etc,_)
You can try the ones I've used in the video. Every one will have their personal preference. I like Wacom Bamboo Paper just because it has fewer features than others.
@@teohyc Thank you for your response. I'll check them out.
Ipad mini 64gb or Ipad 7th gen 32gb?
I'll use it for note taking, light doodles, watching&browsing
(Really torn because of the Storage...they're the same price here in the Philippines
is this still a good iPad to use in 2022? I want to purchase this one
is there any test with the new Scribble function?
Nice!
Can we keep the hand on the screen?
ofc, btw palm rejection is the feature of the apple pencil not the ipad mini
Between the ipad mini 5 and the ipad 7, which would you recommend for note taking for at least 3-4 years? Ipad mini 5 is smaller but has a better hardware than ipad 7, but ipad 7 has a bigger screen, so im not sure which to choose
iPad Mini 5 is probably going to last longer.
I like your writing, btw does the apple pencil 2 work on that ipad? (Please answer)
Apple Pencil 2 only works on iPad Pro 2018.
Teoh Yi Chie Thank you
I don’t understand why Apple has to be the iPad mini little expensive than the iPad 6th generation. But at least it is kind of worth it when you use it with a palm rejection, and pressure sensitive stylus.
the 9.7 pro is honestly thesame thing.
Check their site and you'll know why. Literally ipad mini and ipad air are in the same class which is a bit higher than ipad 6th gen. For example: ipad mini 5 has laminated screen with true tone while ipad 6th gen doesn't. The touch id on ipad 6th gen is 1st generation while ipad mini 5 is equipped with 2nd gen.
Can you tap on the sleeping iPad Mini 5 with the Apple Pencil to open the Notes app like you can on the iPad Pro?
You can configure this feature in settings so the OS supports it but my new iPad Mini 5 doesn't do anything when I tap on it.
Is this feature not available on the Mini 5 or is my iPad broken?
i wonder how long the screen could last
Which variant you use
would u suggest using glass screen protector?
I recommend a thin plastic one and getting a flip case.
so what's your favorite app?
between ipad mini and ipad 6th gen which one would you prefer for general note taking, thank you
Just for note taking? Maybe iPad Mini. For drawing, I think a larger size is more comfortable to work with.
Teoh Yi Chie have you got a 2018 iPAd (entry level) to compare to? Really interested to know if the pencil is more accurate with less lag on the mini. There is a delay and the ink is not quite in line with the tip - I wasn’t sure if that’s just because the 2018 iPad is not laminated. Do you know if there’s a different or is it identical experience?
@@DanielHarrisCodes There will always be a delay regardless the tablet, even on iPad Pro. Just that some tablets have less delay. iPad mini 5 and iPad 6 have rather similar performance. Ink not in line with tip is due to the laminated screen. There will be a gap between the line (on the LCD) vs the pen (on the glass).
Do you recommend it for college?
Sure it's good!
can you try new Huawei m5 lite with pen?
I've just bought a second hand unit. Review will be up next week.
Is the chip in the mini more powerful than the pro
A12X is the iPad Pro 2018 is better than this A12
Hello Teoh Yi Chie do use screen protectors on your iPad for drawing?
I'm torn whether I should install a matt/glass screen protector on it or go naked
Go matte 100%
What's the difference of actual writing feeling between ipad mini (or ipad air) and ipad pro 11. Is the difference between 60hz and 120hz significant to feel? I plan to use ipad for note taking.
If it's note taking, there's not going to be significant differences. Writing experience is similar.
How about the writing experience between Samsung tab s6 and ipad series? Which one would you suggest for note taking? I have a galaxy tab a 8.0 with s-pen, it's not quite good writing experience for me.
@@rawallace If it's just for note taking, get the cheaper iPad 7 with Apple Pencil. No point spending so much money on such expensive tablet like the Tab S6
Notes isn’t showing on my home screen. ??
Unfortunately writing on my ipad5 has been difficult. In bamboo, palm rejection isn't good, I end up having ink blots on it. And in one note, somehow the lines widen on its own and it's so irritating. It's as if the pencil or the app has a mind of it's own. I hope the app fixes that.
Is it too small for note taking?
You have a Liberian English accent. Did you live in Africa?
I write on my computer the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog because my dad wants I will type quickly
Waiting for this kind of review is 64GB would be enough for studying and taking notes ?
It should be more than enough
Which iPad is better for plein air(outdoor) painting? iPad mini 5 or iPad Air 3?
I personally prefer larger screen. iPad Air 3 is like drawing on an A5 sketchbook
Teoh Yi Chie does the iPad Air have less glare then iPad mini?
@@Wannaspray4u Same about of glare.
Nice ipad mini-it looks about the same size as the Samsung foldable cell phone coming out in a couple of years. But Teoh I have a question about the ipad pro-has anyone connected it to a monitor?
if so can u tell me the results. thx
MightyBoy it will only duplicate the ipad monitor. in my mind its very useless to connect it to a monitor :p
@@TuTCubeDE
Thx for reply-At home it is more practical-on the street it is not 😊
just to follow up on your ?x??comment-most people who have a tablet/laptop connect it to an external monitor at home-I have a small Lenovo laptop that I connect to a 22 inch hd monitor. OFCOURSE u are going to duplicate what's on the tablet DAaaaaaa. I also use an external keyboard-its like having a desktop at home. hope I have educated u :) @@TuTCubeDE
Can you write at the slowest speed?
It feels weird writing at slow speed
Learning to draw (since last six months) and I am a medical student.what do you think would the best value for money ipad for me?
( I scared to buy refurbished ipad and the pro 2018 because of bend gate)
Consider iPad Air 3 because the size is comfortable to work with compared to the much smaller iPad mini, unless you really need the extreme portability.
@@teohyc thanks a lot
For studying medicine get a larger screen like the iPad Air because is better for reading medical articles in PDF and managing them in the file viewer
do onenote have ruler on iOS?
I don’t see any ruler in the Draw tab
hi is penultimate free?
How much price
Check Apple websitr
Does it ignore your hand while writing? You know, when you place it on screen.
There is palm rejection
@@teohyc So iPad Mini as well as iPad Air are just like iPad pro in case of writing with pen and palm rejection? I really want to have an iPad for taking notes during classes. Are there many differences?
@@rumey3 Main difference is the size. With Apple Pencil, you will always have pressure sensitivity and palm rejection.
@@teohyc So iPad Air should be good enough for some Netflix and taking notes at university. Thank you !
I just got the iPad Mini 5 for my mom. Does the apple pencil have support for hand rest? She tends to rest the side of her palm when she writes.
I know in the video it says you had to adjust. But we're talking about a senior citizen who cannot adapt. Hehe.
If you're holding the iPad mini with one hand, there's just not enough space to rest your writing hand. You can rest the hand, but it's going to block part of the screen. Palm rejection works really well so don't worry about stray strokes. It's not really a bit issue with resting hand. I mean just go cut out a piece of paper the size of the iPad Mini and write on it and see how much space your writing hand takes up.
Teoh Yi Chie Gotcha. Thanks for the information.
Is this palm resesting??
Yes
What is the price please
You can find it on Apple website
Is that pencil version 1?
1st version
Which app you are using
Wacom Bamboo Paper
i dont know if it's me or bamboo paper works the best among the rest ... innit ?
It the app that was able to capture my handwriting most accurately
Is it support Apple Pencil 2 ?
No
iPad mini 5 ?? iPad 8 ?? Students zoom and pupg ? Performance??
How is the 2nd gen Apple Pencil working on the iPad Mini?
iPad Mini 5 only works with 1st gen Apple Pencil
Is it pressure sensitive
Oh i was typing when you mentioned this
buy buy buy
how come that your pad has lines? how to do that?
Some apps allow you to "turn on" the lines
A little lag?
Does it have palm rejection?
Yes
@@teohyc thanks
will it getting more laggy on the apple pencil input after 1 or 2 years?
I don't think so. Tablets nowadays are very powerful
No promotion, no buy.
Hai teoh, are u cainis?
I don't know what's that
she mean, “are you chinese?”
So, what is the best app?
I don't think there's a best app. Really comes down to your personal preference. I like Inkredible and Wacom Bamboo Paper.
Teoh Yi Chie thank you so much
Second
Pensé que mi letra era fea :v
You are going to have difficulty in case if you are planning to take notes on this small device, better go with iPad 2018.ipad mini is an entertainment device you can’t do productive tasking like taking notes by keeping other apps besides , you can do so but guess how small the screen would become it’s nothing but a pain in ass.
Well people take notes in paper more small than that screen. So it's not a problem
Finn well, most of the people who buy iPads for productivity but very less for entertainment
@@vishalsunkapaka7247 I think Finn was talking about the fact that there are A5 notebooks. Honestly, I don't have any trouble writing on ipad Mini 5. It's no different than writing academic notes on a A4 notebook. Given the fact that it's way more powerful than the 2018 ipad (so you don't have to replace as soon), the ipad mini 5 is better in the long run . The ipad min CAN do everything the ipad does, but WAY BETTER. This has always been the case. Dismissing it as a purely entertainment based device is a really, really, stupid notion.
FYI, the mini does have split screen support... I use it often.

Sadiyo se padhai likhai sirf blackboard or kitabo se hoti aa rahi h ipad se nahi
Would you recommend a screen protector?
If you have a case with cover, probably no need for one.
Paperlike.
@@dixee PaperLike is too overpriced. If you really want a screen protector, check out the hundreds of cheaper ones on Amazon, and check out their reviews. Each time people recommend PaperLike, I have to make this comment because seriously, it's overpriced.
