In this video you can clearly see that she jumps more than 2.15 and the Ukrainian woman her bottom touched the stick. But anyways congratulations to the new world record
Heard about the Yaroslava WR and came here to see the original footage. GOD DAMN, Stefka is insane. Soaring jumps. 37 year record for a reason. What an accomplishment for both of these incredible athletes.
@@TheMilenkata, I have my doubts. The essence of this sport is not to jump as high as possible; the athlete must not knock down the stick in the first place. Even if we can see that Stefka's buttocks are high, it also depends on whether her legs will knock the stick down and etc., so we can't say that she definitely jumped 2.15. Now we have an officially broken record, so congratulations to Yaroslava, she deserves it. P. S. I understand that you are Bulgarian, but this is not a reason to devalue the achievements of a hardworking athlete
@@TheMilenkatayou can clearly see also the shaking of the bar… This sport doesn’t count the highest peak, but the ability of jump with the entire body over the bar.
She's right. SHE could have, and probably did many times, but the bar has to be set to that height. Even looking at this jump she was well over, probably at least 2:12 it has been estimated. Slesarenko jumped a 2:06 that was estimated to be at least 3cms over that height. At that level so much is in your head.
Her clearance is just insane! At least 6/7 cm. That’s the greatest jump at 209 ever! Yaroslava’s clearance is zero, but her record is legit and it will stay.. We can only speculate how much more Stefka would have jumped! But she never had any attempt to beat her record..
@@stoutlager6325 I'm starting to wonder if even she can top it. She's jumped 2.06 once, but it's a long way from 2.06 to 2.10 in the high jump. Konstantinova is the only one who could consistently clear 2.06 or higher.
If you search through the current women athletes no one is even close to the Stefka's technique back from 30 years ago. Even the current Olympic champion Ruth Beitia...
Correct, plus she was so physically perfect for this event...not too tall (only 180cm or 5'11") , fantastic technique, immense vertical lift and awareness in the air, and a fierce competitor. She apparently used to train the house down, believed in herself and her preparation, and was possessed of a temperament which suited this event.

Not by anyone soon, looking at the current women. Vlasic and Bergqvist have 2:08, Chicherova 2:07, but all are over 30. None of them have the technique that consistently propelled Kostadinova to such heights (197 times over 2 metres). Vashti Cunningham has potential, but needs a few years. The only way I can see it going is if there is a completely unexpected performance by someone (anyone) in a one off situation. No one except perhaps Vlasic has the consistency, and unfortunately she has had a lot of injuries, and time is marching on.
I think Mariya Lasitskene stands a chance to take the record, if she continues to push herself. She's still in her 20s, and if we see her in some competitions this year, I think she just might surprise everyone. (Her current personal best is 2.06 by the way.)
Congratulations to Yaroslava Mahuchikh 🇺🇦, who just broke the world record of almost 37 years by our beloved legend Stefka Kostadinova 🇧🇬! ❤
