According to me Rishi are not what we thinking or thought from TV serials... This Rishi's are actually a Researcher who gives his opinion on his research & findings which is done by him practically they observe and collect all knowledge in his mind and transfer to their students (shishya) untill writing scriptures or text not started in Bharatvarsh... first they use Bhoj Patra and Tamra Patra and other materials to store their knowledge but the majority knowledge in Sanatan Dharma transfer from Guru to Shishya(students)
And Munis are those who do Manan on different topics... Like on gravity, astronomy and multiverse... Ofcourse our Ancestors are much more advanced and what current new term used... But they(our ancient Rishi's) are doing exactly what our current scientist, researcher & theorist are doing...
