Cool! Can the trains move easily off the rails, or are they confined to them like normal locomotives, since they seem to work similarly? Also, does this infection spread to short line railroads, or other railroads that aren't connected to the greater network (like isolated mining trains or some narrow-gauge railroads)?
Non alive trains don't derail in this unless acted upon by something else, and living one's usually don't derail unless they try hard enough to intentionally derail. Also it seems two major railroads UP and PRR are the main infected, but mining quarries don't get affected, but sometimes smaller railroads have an infected engine or two.
