I have played this movement and am curious what exactly you mean. It is hard and certainly way harder than it sounds, but not comparable with what comes afterwards in this movement. Do you mean that the octaves are actually meant to be played at the same time? Because that is definitely impossible. I really do not know, because I learned it by ear and not with the score.
Sergei Vasilyevich Rachmaninoff must have had a special fondness for the number two. The Piano Sonata, Piano Concerto, Symphony, Prelude, and Elegiac Trio marked with that number are all true masterpieces. Thanks to Maestro Nikolai Lugansky for his outstanding interpretation.
You are Ineradicable I cant get over how great this is Rachmaninoff would of loved to have meet you. you are a blessing to the world and such a modest man❤
Lugansky and Rachmaninoff. Name a more iconic duo...
Absolutely right
rachmaninoff and horowitz
@@letsbrawl945it’s awesome too
Cziffra and Liszt
You are absolutely right. Another duo? I would say Zimmerman and Chopin...
Thanks David for the chapters, and brief analysis, they're very helpful for me!
He tackles the impossible part at 12:40 at least as well as Horowitz.....BRAVO from Acapulco!
Why is that part impossible?
@@benharmonics -- You'll see when you get the Score and try to learn it a bit yourself.....I have....and it's Impossible.
@@steveegallo3384 not at all
@@stravinskyfan -- Oh, I see....You've done it and are pleased with your own accomplishment?

Lugansky keeps great parts of the original version such as the development section of the second movement. Also 20:27 - 21:33
When the world needed him the most, he returned.

I really think Lugansky is the closest to Rachmaninoff...It is like you hear Rachmaninoff playing
