  • This is a review of the Superior Pump 1/4hp 91250 Thermoplastic Utility Pump. This is not a sponsored video.
0:12 Outline of my flooding problem
2:09 Overview of pump, how I got it
2:54 Orientation and installation in yard
    3:29 Don’t choke the pump
    4:17 Discharge setup
Please refer to the Manufacturer's instructions regarding the maximum diameter of pipe that can be used on the outlet. I prefer to keep the maximum head height reasonably low (not greater than 36 inches) to have the highest discharge rate. I can always move or reorient the pump as the water levels decrease.
5:30 Noise levels during normal operation (unaltered audio)
5:52 Minimising leakage from dissimilar pipes
    6:30 Use with Supervision
7:01 Noise level at low water depth (unaltered audio)
7:23 Visual idea of discharge rates
through approximately 60 feet of PVC line at 2 inches diameter at the exit
    8:00 Final thoughts

Great Video Sir! I liked the use of the screen mesh, good idea. I think I will buy one of these.

My little drummond just takes a hose to the street and i put a window screen cut to cover the bottom to keep anything bigger than a screen Square out, duck tape it halfway up on the pump but cover the bottom, kind of like pulling a sock up your ankles and wrap it around with duck tape.

Interesting setup there, but aren't you concerned the duct tape would come loose after being submerged for long? Hey, there's no one set way to do it, so long as whatever is done is able to keep the heavy stuff like pebbles, leaves, etc., out of the pump. Thanks for the comment.

@@tropicalthinker5231 im in California and that little Drummond is in its 4th atmospheric River Storm and the tape hasn't even unwrapped a bit, 2 things make sure half the tape is on the Drummond body and half holding the screen, and i notice some cheaper off brand Duct Tape does have a weak stick em on objects, make sure you get some original tacky more expensive Duct tape not the cheapie stuff.

    How do you clean it?

There are three screws on the bottom of the pump that you can carefully remove. This would enable you to remove the intake screen. Once this has been removed, you can clean both the impeller for the pump and the intake screen, by gently flushing it with water, or using a soft bristle brush to remove any accumulated dirt. Be careful not to allow any of the dirt or grime that you are cleaning to get into the holes that receive the screws, as that would make replacing the screws more difficult. Hope this helps.
