Stupid Action, Indeed! The rock that looks like a baby's bootie in the lower front right corner sits right in front of the rocks that would have brought that whole right side of the area he was in down. Doing it the way he did it, he covered that rock and reinforced that side of the hill. Had he removed that one rock the drop-off to the far right was sheer enough to drop that side and maybe even start the left side to move too.
