I have this pack in yellow, and I can comment on a couple items. Firstly, it has a light grey interior that greatly increases visibility over this darker color. Secondly, the padding under the laptop pocket is a piece of fabric encased foam on a fabric hinge. When the foam is under the laptop sleeve it works pretty well. However, it can swing partially out from under the laptop which reduces the effectiveness. There may be a way to use some double sided tape or a few small stitches to keep it in place better.

Hey Danny! Seeing that this backpack is so similar to the Hershel Little America, which pack do you personally enjoy more? Also, which pack do you think offers more value at their respective price points? Thanks for the great video

Thank you for watching and I’m glad the video was helpful! Both are pretty solid overall, I think the laptop protection on the little America is slightly better and the fabric feels a little thicker but overall I enjoy using the tomtoc bag more

I'm starting school next month and I've been looking for an affordable backpack in this style that will fit my 16-in laptop inside the pocket. I was considering the Herschel Survey as I love how it looks, but unfortunately I just realized it has no zippers, no drawstring or any secure closure on the top of the bag. It just has those magnetic fake buckles, making theft way too easy. Plus it's more expensive. I guess this one is more similar to The Little America style, but more affordable. Frankly I think I like the way this one looks better, it's a nice mix of vintage and techy sleekness, with functional buckles and cool side pocket. I do wish they had more colors at this price point, but I just looked at the website and you can fully customize this bag for $130(same price as the Herschel)! So that's pretty awesome as an option. Haven't decided if I'll do that or just get the standard black but either way, definitely getting this bag! Thanks for the great review

Thanks for this review. I have been looking for the perfect bag for the past 2-3 weeks and this seem to be the one. Decently priced, good size, nice style, can stand on its own. Have just ordered from Amazon and looking forward to receiving it 🙂

Thank you for the review, I was having a really tough time finding the right bag for me at a non-insane price and I was able to snag one of these at a 15% discount.

Nice pack but I wish these companies would use high viz color material on the interior. Makes a huge difference

Thank you for watching and definitely a fair point especially with bags that are top loaders

Burton Tinder 2.0 looks amazing in that keef waxed canvas colorway/material , sadly all the Tinders are out of stock right now and I wonder if they will even restock since they've sold out everything.
Does this Tomtoc feel more durable/rugged than the Herschel Little America?

Thank you for watching and I agree on the tinder in that color way! I hope they restock or come out with an even newer version, it’s such a solid affordable bag. Compared to the little America overall I think this one feels a little more durable, but not by a lot and the magnetic straps on the Herschel feel a little more premium (although I definitely prefer the clips in this one for real life usage)

Nice vid. I'm actually torn between this one and the Alpaka Elements Backpack Pro. A weird dilemma given how different both backpacks are, but they both kind of fill a different need of mine better than the other one. Both look great, this one having a bit more of personality while the Alpaka is more sleek and "professional-like"; this one is cheaper, though the Alpaka is well within my range too; this one seems like it suits better my EDC and due to being slightly smaller and more squeezable it might be easier to put it under a plane's seat, whereas the Alpaka is not all that bad for EDC and it has a much better layout and a slightly higher capacity for when I need to pack a lot of stuff.
    Decisions decisions...

Thank you for watching! Both are definitely solid bags, like you said quite different! Haha the Alpaka is definitely better built and has nice organization but I would say the vintpqck can actually hold quite a bit more due its simpler / flexible layout so if space is important than that may be the better option imo

Was looking at this since it seems like one of the few backpacks that uses buckles and doesn't look outrageous or too expensive. Buckles will last longer than zippers. Was looking at Burton Chilcoot as well and a review on it would be nice.

Thank you for watching and for the suggestion! I’ve definitely come to appreciate bags like this that have less dependence on zippers!
