Whoever disliked this video obviously wants to be friends with Julie and Alex, but they’re sad that they can’t so they took their rage out on the dislike button.
This video made me notice that Alex is consistently trying to prove that he's strong and not weak and I think that goes hand in hand with his anxiety and his sexuality. I think maybe his family background wasn't the best and maybe his parents made him feel weak or small or that being gay wasn't something to be proud of when he came out or just bc of his anxiety and so he feels like he has to constantly prove that he's not weak/small and that he's "cool" or "normal" but baby, you're normal and your friends love you for you and so do we! 🥺 (P.S. I hope we get to see that explored more in S2)
I also think it’s a product of him being gay in the 1995. If he’s 17 when he died (like Luke was) he would’ve been born in 1978-ish. Most of his childhood, he would’ve known about the AIDS epidemic and heard most politicians blame homosexuals for the disease. Given that his friends are probably the first and only people accepted him, it is very possible that he thinks he has to be the strong for his group, even Julie. (I only thought this because tick, tick… Boom has a gay character who was HIV positive, and thought that if Luke and Reggie knew that Alex was gay in the ‘95, then Alex had taken the pretty big risk on his part)
