A true champion of the game and one of the best ambassador's the sport of golf has ever seen. Inspired a generation of aussie kids in the 80s & 90s to pick up a golf club. Also with all the bad luck he had in various majors that didnt go his way , was always gracious in defeat and took the losses on the chin like a man. Nothing but respect for the Great White Shark .

I still believe he had one of the best and most recognisable golf swings. Right up there with Seve, Tiger & Jack Nicklaus.

The way the club hits his back and the clubhead whips around by his right eye is just amazing. Long drive drive pros dont swing a driver with that much control and sheer power. Best driver of the ball, ever.

No 1 for 331 weeks only bettered by Tiger says it all. Majors record mak6ee him a golfing enigma. Phenomenal golfer who carried himself with a lot of class in victories and defeats. Found him quite humble too having met him.

some critics give Greg Norman so much shit on how he was this and didn't do that and all that other bullshit that goes with it !! Norman is and always will be one of the greatest golfers ever .. why because he played everywhere around the world and won !! not to many golfers can say that. look at the Aussies on the pga tour how many times did they win last year ? 7 times and you know who mostly they credit for there success ? Greg Norman !! he has been a massive influence on people lives and golf game and look at him now a very successful businessman

a giant of the game, tonnes of worldwide wins, majors, world no 1 for a 300 odd weeks and the only man since waaaay back in sarazens time with a real, genuine chance of the calendar grand slam when he led every major after 54 holes in 86'.back in the day the best driver of the ball ever..really...ever!! the real thing that did the shark was technology as with the persimmon driver he was untouchable then taylormade came along with the "metal woods",hot, trampoline faces on drivers and all that and overnight the rest of the field could just lash away and keep up all of a sudden with half the skill required and the power game was king and real shotmaking went out of fashion.probably could of won a few more majors but what can anyone do when guys like larry mize play the only shot of their careers that mean something, him and bob tway?pffft! journeymen at best who got lucky, the shark changed the game and inspired millions and doing the same with business.GO shark!

Greg Norman did NOT give up a 6 shot lead with 9 holes to play in the 1996 Masters
He led by 6 with 18 holes to play.....Faldo shot 67 and the rest is history.
Mind you Norman was playing with a back problem which had started to effect him on Saturday....was much worse on Sunday...shot 78 and still finished outright 2nd....................People forget that he was only 1 over for the first 9 holes....Faldo was 3 under.
    There went 4 shots!
Then his back really started to trouble him...he bogeyed 10..11 and then double bogeyed the 12th......he birdied 13 and 15.......and then had a spasm through his swing and put it in the water at 16.....then took par on 17 and 18
So please let's cut out the "choked" crap.
You want to look at a classic "choke'' then look at Arnold Palmer
With NO physical problems......Palmer surrender a 6 shot lead with 9 holes to play in the 1966 US Open at Olympic and then in the 18 hole play off led by 2 shots with 9 to play and melted.
By his own admission he CHOKED!

Paul EJ Paul, you're making excuses; Palmer won 7 majors, Norman won 2, he also lost in a playoff in the Masters to Larry Mize, he lost in a playoff at the PGA to Paul Azinger, he got destroyed in a playoff by Fuzzy Zoeller at the US Open and also lost to Marc Calcavecchia in the British Open, a Hall of Famer and a great golfer, yes, but he should have won 4 to 6 majors and blew many of them too

    • @illvibe1887
      @illvibe1887 2 года назад

@@cityofchamps66 exactly. Speaking of children, it's quite childish to attempt to point to other players to cover for Norman's multiple choke jobs, especially when your comparison is in a completely different league than the Shark.

Yanks attempting to tell us Aussies about ‘The Shark’ is like an Aussie trying to tell Americans about Jack Nicklaus.

Yes, the "True Blue Aussie" tag was to make money, sure the USA is where the money is, but he retired and certainly didn't come "home" to live like many other Oz do.
I live and work overseas where the money is, and gearing up to buy soon for my retirement back in Oz.

Except he is Australian, by definition. You can live somewhere else because it suits your lifestyle, but your nationality is ultimately where you were born and raised.

    • @20050716

he won 90 tournaments; he definitely wasn't the greatest under pressure but a bit unfair to brand him a choker. Faldo played exceptionally in order to win don't forget, still a 78 is horrible considering how good he was and how well he had played up and until it really counted. He probably choked against Nicklaus, but again he won so often that it's hard to say he was just a choker.
