    Yes, this is a part 2 to my first video about this topic!!
    -
    Just wanna point out that: I am not saying the hit on Ulf was ok, but perhaps karma.. And also, Yes, “Andersson is only 22 how is his career ruined 🤨.” I’m talking about his reputation... As it isn’t very good even as of now.. ( Kinda also just wanted to talk about the incident ). Also Ik that 3:17 the quality dips for the clip. It annoys me too, but for copyright reasons this was the only clip I could use. Hope you guys enjoy!!

    When you update this you should include Bruin Eddie Shore ruining the career of Leaf Ace Bailey back in '33 with a vicious check from behind that caused Bailey to fracture his skull, putting him into a coma. He recovered but this ended his career. The first NHL All Star game was a benefit game played in Feb '34 in Toronto and over $20k was raised for Bailey. Eddie Shore was the Ulf Samuelson/Scott Stevens of his day. A legendary bad boy hated by players around the league. After hitting Bailey, Shore was knocked cold with a single punch by Leaf Player and future NHL Ref Red Storey.

      I know he shouldn't have hit Bailey, but what I heard was that he had been hit in the same shift by King Clancy and in a dazed state, tried to find the player that hit him. Once he thought he found the right player he ended up hitting Bailey from behind which caused the terrible injury.

    Brian Marchment was a piece of work for causing dirty endangerment. Also, Todd Bertuzzi should be here. Eye injuries to Bernie Parent, Barry Ashby and Pierre Mondou were instantaneous career endings. Bryan Berard partially recovered, just barely enough vision for league stipulated percentage of vision but in spite of his courage and dedication, his injury reduced his playing ability and length of career. Howie Young after a stoppage of play, inflicted an unprovoked 'sucker shot' elbow strike to Red Kelly's jaw causing Kelly (complete KO) to crumple backwards smacking his skull on the ice. Young shrugged and smirked and as I recall was assessed a 2 minute minor for elbowing (in those days it seems 5 minutes was only levied for fighting). It had to be a significant injury since the typical protocol was to chuckle about having one's 'bell rung' put them back out and point which way to go. Kelly missed a few weeks with an acknowledged concussion and somewhat to coach/GM Punch Imlach's chagrin when Kelly resumed play, his equipment included wearing a helmet. Kelly was still a productive player however this setback would likely still have been detrimental.

    The potential # of games played for Neely at 410 following the injury is incorrect.
    Keep in mind 94-5 was a shortended season due to a lockout. 378 would be closer to accurate. maximum # of games.

    Hot take:
    If Ulf Samuelsson was from Canada, he’d be seen as just another hard-nosed, good ol boy defenseman. Neely side stepped him and Ulf just didn’t react quickly enough, still a bit dirty but no one would have cared if not for the unfortunate end result.
    What Tie Domi did to Ulf (and Scott Niedermayer) was dirtier than everything Ulf did in his career combined and Tie doesn’t get talked about as a dirty player nearly as much as he should.

    • @null6158
      @null6158 3 года назад +2

      I think Ulf's bad rep comes more from the fact that he ran around and rarely fought. You're right, a lot of what he did wasn't awful, especially when compared to someone like Domi or Cooke. However, if you had a problem with Domi or Cooke, they would be more than happy to settle it with a fight.
      There's nothing wrong with playing that type of hockey, as long as you're willing to be held accountable for your actions and accept the risks that come with playing that kind of game. If you play dirty/on-the-line, people will want to fight you, and you should oblige, ESPECIALLY if you're not getting penalized. Ulf didn't, which makes Ulf a little bitch with giant shoulder pads.
