Keanu Reeves and Tom Cruise, both going into their 60s, showing everyone how it's done
tom is already 61 , its just mind blowing how he is doing all these things
Chris Hemsworth can keep up with the old timers with Extraction 2 showing up and showing out.
Matt Damon
Harrison Ford too...
still no where near jackie chans level
Hayley Atwell convincingly sold both "action star kicking ass" and "terrified of everything that's happening" and the combination is what made her character perfect. You were cheering for her but she was also the perfect avatar for the audience's disbelief.
She was incredible
And also while looking hot
She was the star in my view. Great to see a host of strong women characters in this movie.
I agree she was great
@@foodreacts837yeah that too
They lied, it wasn't the motorbike jump scene that was the best stunt, it was the entire train sequence. A complete masterpiece in suspense, action and pay-off.
Someone was definitely playing Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
I definitely agree 👍
I was smiling during the scene. Was really cool and tense.
Tom Cruise is the perfect example of how a movie star should be. It doesn't matter how weird he is in real life, or what he does behind closed doors.
Because at the end of the day he's an entertainer who entertains. He's an actor that actually works for your money. You know when you buy a ticket to his films he's gonna do everything in his power to earn your time.
Most people don't care about celebrity culture especially when it has no impact on their lives. But actors like Tom Cruise and Keanu Reeves actually understand the job and give everything to entertain us.
Completely agree 💯
I mean true, but he's also appeared on Scientology propaganda before, is a senior member and they ARE a known deadly cult. That being said, I did go to see this movie even knowing that.
So for example if he an pedophile, killer. Rapist, etc you will still stand with your"it doesn't what he does in his private life"
?
@@123-u1x8mthat's a weird thought😂 but you always have to separate art from artist
Yea 100%. As long as he keeps his Scientology nonsense to his private life and it doesn't hurt anybody, I'm happy paying to see his ridiculous stunts on screen
That entire final sequence was out of this world amazing.
I was watching it with my jaw open.
Would love to see other franchise regulars return for part two
Jeremy Renner would be great to have back for part two.
The squad from Ghost Protocol. Thandie Newton. The squad from 3. I'd love it!!
I know, definitely the best of that particular kind of setpiece/scenario I've seen to date, which is pretty impressive, considering it's not that rare a scenario in action movies.
The cg was so obvious no? Took me out of it as cool as it was
Exactly.. the final act and the ending was brilliant!!! Can't wait for part 2
Seeing FALLOUT in theaters 5 years ago was one of the most exciting and memorable theaters experiences I've ever had and I agree that it's one of the greatest action movies ever. I'm so excited to see Dead Reckoning in theaters.
I remember seeing Fallout, expected basically like atleast a good action movie but damn I didn't know the movie was going to exceed my expectations so highly
Maybe not the greatest action movie ever, but definitely the greatest action I've seen captured on film.

It is crazy to me that we are nearly at the 30 year mark since the first movie in this franchise, and Cruise is still smashing it. Phenomenal
Seemed for a while the first film was going to be it but the 2nd even with John Woo directing it failed but the third film. wheels started getting back on track and now we have locomotive speed . I like espionage action thrillers James Bond used to have but MI is much superior in story and action and glad people forget Cruises dance on a daytime talk show and his religion to look at Cruises work and dedication to his job and stunts .
@@speedracer1945 separate the artist from the art. That's what I always say. Cruise hasn't done anything in my books to warrant being a terrible human being, and his dedication to the art of film is what makes me admire him. Yes the religious stuff is a little weird, but then again, I'm a Freemason, so who am I to judge? People think that we're a little strange too

@@kinnexionI mean he’s definitely done my some things that tip toe towards being a possible horrible human being. Tom Cruise makes great movies but I’m not gonna pretend he’s not a weirdo in his off screen life. It’s also about more than one artist. Hundreds of people make these MI films great. I think the separation is complex and nuanced and depends on the person. You can’t check every purchase you make of course. Just judge things on their own merit.
Directors: Let's use CGI
Tom: I am CGI ( Cruise Going Insane)
lmao
despite some welcome criticisms with this movie, it was still one of the best moviegoing experiences i’ve ever had. mcquarrie’s directing style has been evolving steadily with his now 3 (and soon, 4) entries in this all-time great franchise… and he’s really come into his own with this one. the dutch angles & unique cinematography, the dialogue, character dev, etc. what a fucking movie. i hope this franchise will continue to deliver as long as it’s in the right hands.
It's really amazing what Tom Cruise has done with Mission Impossible. It's not the greatest brand out there when you think of things like Star Wars, Indiana Jones, James Bond, but where the others have lost energy of just went so overblown that lost all sense of reality (Fast and Furious), MI just kept getting better and better. Each of those movies is a well crafted cinematic experience, and some of them are nearly perfect action blockbuster movies. Fallout is one of the best action films of all time. Tom Cruise keeps doing it, and I think no one takes it for granted. Can't wait to see this in theatres.
The thing about Cruise and Reeves isn’t that they are ageless wonders, although they are, but if you watch the Behind the Scenes, they are both so damn enthusiastic and dedicated to their craft. They WANT to entertain you. They LOVE what they do. And those kinda vibes bleeds out of the screen and into the audiences. And it makes it even more enjoyable.
It wasn't that long ago that all celebrities were that way. Now it seems like most of them just want to fight with their fans on Twitter.

Mission impossible is basically what the Fast and Furious franchise wishes they can be.
Mission Impossible is proof that people don’t mind long franchises, as long as the story is good, and the action is not overly obnoxious.
Fast and furious is illogical garbage plz don't insult mi 😊
Well, F&F was once a very entertaining action franchise with great practical set pieces that I continued to look forward too... but now it's unfortunately just like any other big budget blockbuster commercial franchise. But they have similar "arcs". Both franchises had a wobbly start going in some different directions but come together around film nr 4 or 5. Then continued upwards. But Fast has gone up and now crashed and burned. M:I i s still going strong and I can't wait for Part One and Two of Dead Reckoning, all the while I couldn't care less for Fast X Part 2...

Bro Mission Impossible 4 and onwards have easily been the best action movies period. Nothing even comes close. Not James Bond. Not John Wick. Nothing.
@@emperormouse5487the Mission Impossible franchise has the fun that the Bond franchise lost with the Craig films.
@@emperormouse5487I pretty much agree with that. The only one that I don’t care to ever watch is the 2nd film. The action scenes were borderline silly, they did the mask disguises too much, and the overall vibe was rather corny.
@@MrBuketman yeah I liked the first 3 too, but they’re not in the same league as the the newer ones.
@@lichoscar I’d say casino royale is still up there for me as one of the best action movies ever made, but the other Craig Bing films definitely lost something. They became too serious and the action became very generic. I think James Bond as a character has infinitely more potential and personality than Ethan hunt, but those movies are just not made with the same passion and drive to improve that the mission impossible movies have.
I'm so glad that the winning streak of the McQuarrie-directed entries in this franchise is continuing. _Fallout_ is one of my favorite movies ever, so I have extremely high hopes for this one.

Watching this movie after the depressing snoozefest that was Indiana Jones was a breath of fresh air. This movie is everything that movie isn't. Actual stakes, valid emotion, excellent characterwork, not one godawful, but THREE excellent female characters, and most important of all, expert directing, editing, and absolutely lethal action scenes. This movie deserves to dominate the boxoffice.

27 years!!! This franchise has been around since I was still a teenager! Before I had kids that are now 20 and 22! That is just insane to think about. With that said, unlike some other long running franchises, *Cough* Fast Saga, these seem to be getting better and better. Safe to say I am excited to see it, in the theater, as it was intended to be seen! Let me also express my excitement to see your film, Chris! As a man that started writing a book damn 8 years ago(wow never really thought about how long it has been) only to have stopped about 75-80% done and no real reason to think that I'll ever finish the last 20-25% because I haven't written anything of any substance in probably 3 years. I know it can be hard to not only start something but even harder to actually finish it! I know you are not 'done' yet but it's a pretty safe bet to say that it will be done and when it is I will be there to see it!
The best compliment I can give the 🎥: 163 minutes that feels like 90. I was just in shock and awe.
Starting with 4-5-6, the MI franchise hit the stratosphere and their stride as some of the best films in the action genre. I look forward to part 7 very much.

I've caught up on the every MI movie in the lead up to Dead Reckoning. Never realized how great this franchise was until I watched the movies and your reviews. Glad to hear Dead Reckoning delivers the goods, can't wait to go see it.
I was fortunate enough to have been invited to a top secret screening of this film back in April where I sat in the same room as the Producers, film composer, and even tho he wasn't present, Tom Cruise managed to make a top secret appearance. I had to keep my mouth shut for like 4 months and now that I can finally discuss it... YES it's phenomenal believe the hype
My god, I would have been geeking out almost equally as hard for Lorne Balfe as Tom Cruise.
Since you saw the film, I wanted to ask how much sexual content was in the film? I did see some naked women who were obscured a bit in the trailer, but for some reason this only has a PG-13 rating for “suggestive material” instead of “sexual content”. Is it like game of thrones where there is very clear full frontal nudity, or is it purposefully hidden for the PG-13 rating?
@@PikeTheFalcon from what I remember, they were completely nude or my eye sight sucks. Maybe they changed it, maybe not, but it was very brief
@@universalsoldier2293 Lorne Balfe was literally behind me, I was shaking 😂
@@PikeTheFalconjust came from the movie. There's only one scene with full nudity but unfortunately you can barely see anything because of the lighting.
However, even when fully dressed, Hayley Atwell is the fucking bomb.
One of my favorite things in this movie among several other things was actually the "Paris" henchman, played by Pom Klementieff. She gave an interesting Bond villain vibe, and played the part of a psychopathic sycophant really well. A hushed part of the movie's theme came of to me was "what would humans evolve into with an AI at the wheel." Gabriel and Paris are that. Her redemption arc was a nice touch too.
To call it an “arc” suggests a curve. It was more like a bolted on extra, where someone who suffered a knife being plunged into their chest can still lift about 3 times their body weight an hour later and still have time to murmur a few more heartfelt sentences. Arc, meet sledgehammer.
The final falling train sequence is one of my all time favorite action/suspense sequences of all time
This has been the movie I've been waiting all freaking year for and I cannot wait to watch it. This franchise just keeps getting better and really feels like it has staying power.
did you watch it yet? was it worth the hype?
Tom Cruise and McQuarrie are some of the greatest collaborators in the movie industry right now. Different films they’ve been involved in together (some mcQ has been writer or producer instead of director): Jack reacher, edge of tomorrow, 3 mission impossible movies now (about to be 4 with part 2), maverick, valkyrie… just to name a few
One of the best franchises out there if not the best. Certainly my favorite. The international espionage. The exotic locations. The team dynamic. The gadgets. The practical stunt work and of course Cruise himself. I saw the first one in theaters when I was 8 years old and little did I know it would consciously or subconsciously start my love for movies. It was one of my first theater experiences while also being my introduction to Mission Impossible, Tom Cruise, and filmmaker Brian De Palma.
Since then the franchise has had its ups(Fallout, Ghost Protocol) and some downs(really only MI2, but even that flick is quite frankly more interesting than a lot of bland action films we get today thanks to John Woo). There’s an old Hollywood aesthetic to this franchise not just because of its use of real stunts, but its disregard for modern franchise spin-offs and exhausting lore. While there have been some nods here and there to the previous flicks and tv show, they largely feel self contained. More importantly they still feel like actual events because we don’t get these every year or every other year.
Great review as always and I can’t wait to see it.
Bond - before it lost its balls. Cruise is staying true to the material, keeps hitting home runs. If that last Bond is the end, what a sad, pathetic last effort.
The simple fact that you haven't even looked at the movie "The Sound of Freedom" makes me doubt my Subscription Chris.
He wont. He is trying to please the big daddies at pedowood.
If he doesn’t I will be unsubscribing, it’s a clear message
In my opinion, this movie was a step down from Fallout and the previous two movies. The AI plot reminded me of Eagle Eye and it was just a bit convoluted. While the action set pieces were cool, there were far too many clunky exposition scenes and the fate of a certain character was executed very poorly. I get that this is only part one, but Dune did this so much better and a movie should be solid on its own. With the writer's strike going on, I don't think we're going to see part 2 for a while and that's also frustrating. I read that Christopher McQuarrie tends to rewrite a lot of the plot on the fly, as well as writing the movie after brainstorming the main stunts. Maybe COVID affected the writing. I don't see how we went from MI4-MI6 to this.
Overall, maybe I went in overhyped, but I left feeling mostly underwhelmed and a little disappointed.
I love how the "thank you" message comes AFTER the review. This has nothing to do with the review but shows how Chris knows what he is doing and should be considered "nuance of a professional".

The dutch angles are insane. I only afterwards realized that this might be McQuarrie's hommage to De Palma's original which used a lot of dutch angles (and, funnily enough, the best ones in the scene with Henry Czerny). Just wanted to add that, my impression of the film almost matches yours. Great movie.

MI 7 has serious pacing issues --- the first 30 minutes were tedious and boring. Villain Esai Morales, who is a magnificent actor, doesn't have any memorable lines, which is a shame. The plot had too many threads, similar to a restaurant with 150 items on the menu. The movie would have been MUCH better if an hour was edited out. As much as I love James msngold, Christopher McQuarrie should have been the director to handle the final Indiana Jones film. Mangold relied to heavily on CGI, they shot the whole film in the Uk. McQuarrie would have traveled the globe giving us old school stuntman heavy action, and sent Indy out with a true bang
Mangold did most of the shoot in the UK, but they also went to Sicily and Morocco, which is one of my gripes with the movie, really: everything still looks like it was CG, despite on-set locations.
Also, ironic trivia: the train sequence in _Dials of Destiny_ was shot on a non-existing railway track constructed specifically for another movie, _M:I - Dead Reckoning._
I hadn't thought of that but you're absolutely right. He would have elevated the film a good few levels.
@@rogerkincaid931 they may have shot some 2nd unit location work in other countries, but it looked like ILM touched up every single shot, making it all look fake. The last scene in Morocco with the broken down tuktuk; looked like it was shot in front of a green screen with cgi extras walking through the background. The entire scene was close-ups. Mangold need to pull the camera way back; shoot on film and leave out the digital enhancements.
Another awful sequence was the New York rooftop sequence where it is clearly not New York. New York is full of streets that haven’t changed in 70 years. Which is why so many period Films shoot there. Simply shoot it there then remove a few newer buildings and it’ll atleast look more real.
You also have to take into account that Indiana Jones is a franchise that is attached to Disney, a corporation that now produces films in a heavily saturated market where there is heavy studio involvement.
It would have made no difference in the end as Disney would have controlled the direction the film took from beginning to end, making it unpalatable to most audiences, but faithful to the company’s wokeist agenda.

They should definitely do at least one collaboration soon, cause they're getting to the point where it's about to be hard to sell/believe they're actually kicking ass. Keanu was looking a bit sluggish in John Wick 4.
Add in Jackie Chan and you'll have a real action movie.
I was thinking the same thing. Tom would play the crazy, do anything, guy and Keanu Reeves is the reluctant sidekick who thought he was badass until Tom's character repeatedly puts them them in insane situations.
Keanu will often tell the Tom character: "No f*cking way! Are you out of your bird' brained mind?"
Tom X: "we don't have a choice. Just look around. We can't turn back -- and I heard the part about a bird brain -- but right now, either you start running, or I'll pick your pseudo samurai ass off the floor and..

Well, it would not be hard (no pun) having chemistry with Hayley Atwell. Rewatched the very 1st Mission Impossible. We had no idea at that time how fantastic that movie was. Nobody would’ve guessed this franchise would be what it is today. Every single installment are solid. Even the less than ideal MI2, etc are legit.
Definitely going to see mission impossible... But first I'm going to see Sound of Freedom and watch a real story of a real hero who continues to save real children from child trafficking 💯.... Please review Sound of Freedom 🙏🙏🙏🙏‼️
I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this movie “the Sound of Freedom” apparently it’s made more then Indiana Jones as of late and is about raising awareness of child trafficking.
I genuinely dont believe Chris is truthful anymore about his bluntly honest feelings.
I left this film buzzing. Adrenaline pumping action. This movie was epic. I’m super excited for part 2.
Hey Chris, are you gonna review Sound Of Freedom.
Just curious.
Btw great review of MI. Keep it up! Love your reviews man.
Greetings from Panama! 🇵🇦
This sounds like a Metal Gear Solid plot and I love it. Information control leading to the control of society is literally the goal of the big bads of the series: The Patriots. Kojima also saw the dangers of AI way back in MGS2 in 2001.
it’s SO COOL
Turn off the game!
I knew I wasn’t the only one getting MGS2 vibes from him describing the story
Great review Chris! I've been binge watching all the MI movies in preparation!
Can you review "Sound of Freedom" next, its based on a true story of a government agents who rescues children across the border from trafficking. It cost only 15$ million to make and made more money than Indy 5 on July 4th!!!
No matter what movie Tom cruise is in, he gives 110% effort!!
There are no bad Mission Impossible movies throughout the years!
2 was bad and Rogue Nation was boring
Ethan Hunt saving mildly familiar women for unknown or downright deranged reasons
This movie seriously made me remember how much I absolutely adore good action movies
I'm so excited for this movie, I do love this franchise, my utmost respect for Tom Cruise and his commitment to deliver just the best of the best. I will watch 1 to 6 again in preparation for this one
I see nobody talking about Shea Wigham!
He was hilarious in this, it's great to see him in a big movie like this, he's a great actor
Saw it with my teenage daughters on Thursday and we were blown away. We all want to see it again. The cast is stellar.
I haven't been to the movies since the Revenant. I stopped going years ago, because the movies just sucked. I thought this movie was one of the best action movies I've ever seen. Riveting. 9.8/10.
I don't think there is any other franchise that is this long and this good with each entry being either better than the previous one or adding something new...
Some will say Harry Potter. But I agree with you, hard for another franchise to top this one.
Tom Cruise is insane but he makes fantastic movies. If Tom is in it, I want to see it.
Glad to see other people asking for Chris to review Sound of Freedom.
He won’t bc he’s a fake ignorant liberal with an agenda
i am amazed that this franchise can still deliver such quality. Not only are the movies great, but the characters in the series are also great. Absolutely amazing.
Where's The Sound of Freedom review. I know you have the courage to review this film. I recall your support for independent films please don't stay silent on this one.
i’ve seen in twice and honestly, aside from being entertained to the highest level i can imagine from a movie, i feel emotional because i grew up with this franchise. i still keep my MI4 ticket even though the ink has faded! my favorite movie franchise, ever!
Chris why dont you promote and review movie "Sound of Freedom" ?...everybody needs to see that movie ASAP
Trying to follow up a film as good as Fallout must have been daunting but deciding to make the story two films and then having to film it during Covid was herculean. Can't wait for this and the eventual part two.
Not as good as Fallout but its good
My wife and I just saw it in IMAX yesterday and we weren't disappointed. She asked me after we left the theater what I thought and the only way I could describe it in one word was.... "Jeezus..." It felt like there was zero downtime or taking a beat in any part of it. It was go go go from the first scene, in a good way. You were always watching, something on the screen that provided context or was telling part of the story. ( I noticed this in Fallout as well where things even in the far background added to the story). I'm glad that we only have to wait a year for the next one, but I'm also afraid they'll go too over the top with the action in trying to top this one.
Over the top Action would not be bad at all lol
Still wonder if Chris will review The Sound of Freedom movie. It deserves to be seen everywhere by everyone of us...
Literally searched his channels videos like a hawk for this comment. THANK YOU 🙏🏼🙏🏼I heard Tyrone Magnus mention in his review how some big time reviewers refused to shed light on the film for their own political reasons. I’ve followed Chris for years and always enjoyed his content. Unfortunately his ignorance and lack of care to shed light on such an important issue..I will be unsubscribing and not continuing to give him any contribution. He showed his real colors..he can review a bunch of bs films nobody cares to see but can’t shed help light on one of the biggest epidemics in the world.
Hope to see a Sound of Freedom review. Would love to see Chris's take.
He is unlikely to review it for the same reason he released a video defending Indy 5. Not good to anger potential future employers.
@@esyphillis101 Why would anyone be angry about someone reviewing a movie?
@@Navzar222 do you know that Disney bought the rights to distribute this film back in 2018 and then sat on it for 5 years with no intention of ever releasing it, thus burying it? It wasn’t until Bob Chapek sold it back to them at a discounted price that they were able to sell the distribution rights to Angel studios to release it?
Also, there are documentaries connecting Disney to child grooming and trafficking activities that go back years, even decades. This is no conspiracy theory, the information is publicly available.
Remember that Chris is trying to get into the industry. He can’t afford to burn any bridges before they are built.
@@esyphillis101 Was not aware. Just read about it. Don't really understand how taking a stance against child trafficking is an issue.
I know he's problematic, but give this man an Oscar already. Single-handedly been rescuing the box office for decades.
I feel like “I know he’s problematic” can be said about just about everyone in the public eye at this point. 😂
@@jmurphy0684 Lol. True dat
Scientology to me isn’t problematic it’s just how I saw folks I grew up with who were Mormons. Total cult just like textbook definition lolll
Problematic? Lmao sht tf up dude
he doesn't need one... he is already bigger than them
Man, I don't get these reviews. I really like mission impossible in general but I thought this movie was bad.
It's official.
Tom Cruise
Keanu Reeve
Denzel Washington
Leonardo Decaprio
& Tom Hanks are My Favorite Actors! I'll watch anything with them. 🎉
Smile, thanks for your love and support towards me
You can't go wrong with the mission impossible movies, for me it's greatest action franchise of all time, especially when you know the stunts are real by him.
Seriously. And in the weakest film ..the last half is actually great. (Talkin about 2)
My most anticipated movie of the year right here. Glad it doesn't seem to be a disappointment!
