      The Senate is ultimately the heart of the American political system. Far more important than the house and arguably the presidency.
      The underlying purpose of which is the represent the state's self-governing interest and capacity.
      To whatever extent this is true of Canadian provinces and the capacity to govern themselves they are states.
      That does not however mean we are prepared to grant them an equal say and footing.
      In practice this generally requires politically balanced pairs which would make it possible only for a few of Canada's provinces to join The rest would have to be subdivided more.
      So Canada's total political impact might be a lot more than 10 states.

    • @alexinadon7999
      @alexinadon7999 17 дней назад +7

      @gman20031 Canada has always prided itself on being a nation with its own identity, separate from the United States. While the debate over gun rights is often viewed as a hallmark of American liberty, the path forward for Canadians lies in policies that balance personal freedoms with public safety.
      With Trudeau’s leadership potentially concluding and Pierre Poilievre emerging as a strong contender, it’s possible that Canadians might witness a shift in the conversation about firearms. However, rather than mirroring U.S. laws, Canada must forge its own approach, one that respects individual rights while remaining true to its history of measured governance.
      As Kennedy might have said, “The best way to advance freedom is not to imitate, but to innovate-grounding progress in principles and wisdom.

    • @alexinadon7999
      @alexinadon7999 17 дней назад +5

      @@thegrim_1 It’s interesting you’d say that, considering how deeply intertwined our economies, cultures, and histories are. News about the U.S. often affects Canadians directly, so it’s natural for us to pay attention. If you’re educated enough, you’d also know that the U.S. economy has a significant impact on Canada-trade, jobs, and markets are closely linked. As for Quebec, it’s a province with a unique identity, but it’s still an integral part of what makes Canada strong and diverse. Dismissing it only shows a lack of understanding.

We have an upcoming election here in Canada and there is a very systemic discontent with the current Liberal leadership. To say that 50% are in favour of joining USA, needs further clarification, as while we are in a weakened state with current Liberalism, there is a strong undercurrent across Canada that upholds to more conservative values. @DouglasMurray-h2o I said that once you're in the hospital, as in past the emergency department, things are very good. However when people die in waiting rooms of emergency departments you can't claim things are going well. And the professional colleges limit the number of students for medical professionals so that it keeps demand very high so unions can demand more and more money. Healthcare expenditure has increased beyond inflation over the last 50 years yet service has continued to decline.
