Picti video was one of the most difficult to make due to the limited amount of material evidence of their early life. So, I had to wait to get verification from Alan Short. The Basque people are alive today, so there was a lot of material to work with. Thank you so much for appreciating my work. I am in the US finishing work on Serpent Mounds. So, hopefully soon ...

The Picts get theyre name from the Scots in Ireland. Not the Romans. Romans never invaded ireland, guest why? Picts came from Europe runing from the lost battles. As video says they where 7 groups confederation, this means, they were only men, that escapd from the last lost battle of Vercintegorix, as they migrated the people of the Boii. Picts where mercenary. When they got to Ireland, the Scots, told them where to go to live, and gived them wifes! This is when the allaince starts, till great Kenneth Mac Alpin becomes King.

Actually it was shown Picts and Caledonia existed at the same time. During the Roman empire time 30,000 Caledonian were killed as what I found from the records. After the Caledonians were more less killed or killed can't say since I could find no records of them living after the battle but going by Caledonian still common name in Scotland they must as I suspect. Picts were based during the Romain time of the North east of Scotland were shown had to be biggest problem in Caesar conquering Scotland since they could never conquer North East of Scotland .

It's most likely that Picts called themselves something very similar to Cruithnich/Cruithini from Gaelic as this is what the Gaels called them in Ireland and in Scotland. Gaelic and Brythonic, though different today, are now thought to have been very similar in the time of the Romans. They had only begun to diverge into Q-Celtic (Goidelic) and P-Celtic (Brythonic).

    • @IhanaSuloinen

There are many ideas of where the Picts came from. Bede's Historia Ecclesiastica Gentis Anglorum says that they came from Scythia. Others say Scandinavia and yet other say from the West when the sea levels were low. The latter suggests that they may be related to Basque, Guanche, and Amazigh. The Basque and the Pictones were neighbors (it is a 2-hour drive from Bayonne to Bordeau). My video leaves out where the Picts came from and focus on how they "disappeared" in Alba. The origins of the Picts is as elusive as it gets. (If you read the comments on my Scythians video you will know how people and trolls react to contentious claims or videos :) ruclips.net/video/9mXXlGMG-Vk/видео.html

According to some old Scottish myths, the Scots came from Scythia, not the Picts. They were two different entities who merged in one, in Scotland. But there are certainly other sources saying that the Picts came from Scythia or anywhere else. I just think that the similitude between the two ethnonyms, Pictones and Picts, is interesting. Sir John Rhys, who was a proeminent Celticist at the end of the 19th/beginning of the 20th century, noticed also a similitude between toponyms in the region were the Pictones lived in Gaul, and toponyms in Scotland, and also some common dialectal features, which I used as an argument for their possible migration toward Albion at the time of the Roman conquest. The Pictones did not live in the area of Bordeaux, but about 200 kms more in the north, south-east from Brittany. There were other tribes between the Pictones and the Basques. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pictones#/media/File:Map_Gallia_Tribes_Towns.png
      Very nice videos indeed!

The Scottish declaration of Independence clears says they came from Scythia. Even the Irish Lebor Gabála Érenn says the Tuatha De Danann and Fomorians descend from Scythia (via Nemed). ruclips.net/video/KJxhcsXXUms/видео.html
However, toponym and linguistic similarities are quite compelling. Perhaps, Sir John Rhys was right. I would also be interested in stone pictographs.

beva68 the the Romans wrote accounts of the Belgae and others having ships, add to that the near/ identical names and customs of tribes in Britain at the time in relation to those on the Continent, and I am willing to bet you are correct. They had to have come across from the Continent. They may well have been the forerunners of the Celto-Brythonnic immigration.

The word pict comes from the Latin picture it means painted face. The picts are genetically the same people as the Welsh and cornish. They were mostly killed off by the invading Scott's and irish and saxons. So the picts and Welsh and cornish are ancient Britons they are the same people. The three languages of Britain were cymraig (Welsh) cymric ( Cumbrian) and cornish. The Welsh language was the largest spoken it stretched from Wales most of modern England and half of Scotland. There may have been more old languages but they died out. Not sure but cant think of the language spoken in northern Scotland they probably had there own dialect of British. In resent DNA studies the Scots have more incomon with Vikings and Irish than picts. Only 20% of Scots Share DNA with picts

We are not talking about the Romans here are we. The Irish and Vikings may well have quietly known about it but what knowledge do we have that the Romans did. Remember also that the regimes in Europe did not encourage the idea that there was a landmass due west across the Atlantic because the hoi polloi in Europe were encouraged to think that the world was flat so if you sailed too far west you fell off the edge. I am not saying everyone agreed with that idea. But you are on a sticky wicket maintaining that the Romans knew there was land across the Atlantic although the Phoenicians may have known this.

They were a special people, fiercely independent, and devout to the All-Father, their name for God. And they received holy tidings from luminous heights, by which they were able to know of the first Roman attack of the British Isles, and so went there to fight them off. Then, as they moved northwards, they informed all Celtic tribes of the coming of Christ, whose Coming they had received in Spirit, as well as knowledge of the Holy Cross of Creation, which belongs to the Holy Spirit, or the Will of God. Later, they proffered strong resistance to the Romans, and to a man, the one tribe all died to save other neighbouring tribes, after the Romans had finally successfully invaded most of the British Isles. Long live the Spirit of the ancient Picts!!!
