  • I was driving Golf 7 1.6TDI for more than 2000km and was impressed with its average fuel consumption. The last trip I took to the airport was around 270km and I achieved 3.3l / 100km during that driving. Note that this was on the roads of Serbia were only around 40km was a highway and all the rest was only one track road where sometimes you need to accelerate hard to be able to overtake cars and tracks.

    Impressive! I own a Golf VII 1.6TDi aswell and last week I drove 900km on a single tank with ~70km range left(acc. to display) øcons. was indicated at 4.2l and the Autobahn isnt straight and flat all the time. I think its a great car in many aspects! EDIT:I was driving around 120kph.

    Try adding E.Primacy tyres, a remap and egr / dpf delete. Will save you another 1 litre per 100km if you keep the car in top gear at 1600 to 1800 rpm.

    • @ArminAlibasic
      @ArminAlibasic  2 года назад +1

      Removing EGR and dpf will probably increase fuel consumption as their function is to return some of the unburned chemicals back to engine. For the tires I agree. And for the remap not sure, never tried that :)

    • @hungrysurfer9471
      @hungrysurfer9471 2 года назад +5

      @@ArminAlibasicActually fuel consumption was much lower. After removing the egr dpf & cat and then carefully remapping to take advantage of much better boost at low revs because the dpf and cat fillters are unblocked the turbo spools up earlier about 400 to 500 rpm lower so i can use 1 gear higher, result was massively reduced fuel consumption. Not a small improvement. Think 10 to 15 mpg more. More than 1 litre per 100km less fuel used.
      It also improved the power, torque and throttle responce, especially at low revs. Think of it like 1 litre of diesel energy per 100km is not being waisted trying to push exhaust gases through 2 blocked up tiny filters. And the egr is not dumping dirty exhaust poo gases back into the engine intake. An engine is not supposed to eat its own dirty exhaust poo. So with no EGR the combustion can be much more efficient and leaner (remap is needed is optimise the potential gains).
      E Primacy tyres will give atleast another 5mpg or 0.5 litres reduction over the older gen Energy Savers and a much bigger fuel consumption improvement over a high friction sticky sports tyre or winter tyre.

    Looks really impressive. So impressive, it's hard to believe these figures are real, but if they are, then we have a German gem in there.
    I own Seat Ibiza with same 1.6 TDI CR engine, and cruising about 120km/h on highway returns about 6l/100kmh. It's very difficult to get below 4l/100kmh, but possible when cruising at about 80kmh.
    Typically though I got 5l - 7l on highway, 6l - 7.5l in city and 4l - 5.5l in extra urban.
    Ps. I wish I could have same fuel economy as you.

    • @ArminAlibasic

      It is definitely real but have in mind that majority of my road trip was not on the highway, if you see average speed. On the highway it will be also around 4--4.5l/100km

      It's strange, I get 6 l/100 km combined on 1.2 TSI Octavia when driving hard, all the way up to 160 km/h for prolonged periods.
      Cruising at 90 km/h is more like 4.5 l/100 km, as NEDC specs tell.

      @@bart2903 how much km does your car have. And how often has it been serviced ? Are the gap intervals like every 10.000 20,000 or are there huge gaps in the service history ?
      Regarding the injectors & pump they clog up slowly over time if you use cheap diesel from a supermarket. Try Shell V Power for 6 months, it will clean out the fuel system gradually.
      Also my cars consumption was very bad when the exhaust filters blocked up. 40s mpg. After hollowing out the cat dpf and disabling the egr, fuel consumption improved into the mid 60s mpg. A lot. So if your car does 40mpg and is supposed to do 70mpg then the filters might be bunged up with years of carbon soot poo.
      Cheap tyres from china are very bad for fuel economy. Try a set of Michelin E Primacy tyres next time. They make a big difference.

      @@hungrysurfer9471 i cannot see my first reaction but I can confirm that it was indeed the injectors!

      before that was 4.8-5.4 L-100km!
      I am super happy with the result.
      I have yet to see what the effect is on a full tank of diesel.
