Absolutely beautiful. thank you Rupert I've been struggling with this recently. I was on the fence with both Advaita and Buddhism for a couple years and most recently switching back and forth. Ideas is what is conflicted and I should investigate my truth.

This is crucial because it is directly related to our independence as individuals. And you probably make the connection with the organized religions because those seem to always refer to an object i.e. the devotion to an image, a historical figure, someone special that supposedly lived 'in the past'. And people live their life depending on (their own interpretation of) what their bible says and never really think as an experiential scientist of the spirit would. That is the dependency that you are referring to... whatever the relationship is... it could be with a partner, a teacher or anyone we admire, really.
People love to the best of their ability no matter how terrible they seem to be. There is a beautiful song I heard a few days ago for the first time. It is not a religious song; it is a pop song that makes me understand what happens with the heart and mind of a devotee. There is this intense passion accompanied by an intense sense of dependency. She sings beautifully with her soul and I love her for that however she suggests the troubles of a hell of a way of life that she seems to be used to as if there was no other way…. or maybe she just does not know any better. Her ache or sorrow sound like helplessness, a feeling that can be easily misinterpreted as love for the object. It is partially beautiful and partially sad.
Listen to her amazing voice with a headphone please, and enjoy!

Beautiful here wins though... just because I love her intensity. ✔ ;)

Empty Zen , Advaita, Choiceless Awareness, Dis-identified Vipassana(no label noting) is the same truth. Buddhist Suttas do have tendency to be written back to front which could lead someone to get caught in the map trap. Think the Buddha did express at some point in his travels to start with the luminous clear awareness and then watch for self form obscurity. Anyhow, still think people can benefit from insights and discernments of others especially for the more awkward mind/body entanglements.

Dzogchen and Advaita, two sides of coin so thin, they are the same.
