Dear Dr. Sahib that thumri paharri is a gift for Indian classical music and none of the classical singers could ever touch that hight . So sweet singing.
Sir, namaskar to you. You are so right. In the mid 1960s my father bought a series of records of these 'pakistani brothers ' as they were called. Their sundar nain tihare balma in miyan ki todi and aeri mori aali piya nahi aaye in gorakh kalyan are masterpieces. I also have a rare 78 rpm record of their singing a thumri in raag Sindh kaafi : O more nain. The song ajhun aaye balma saawan beeta jaaye from film Saanjh aur Savera bears a striking resemblance to this thumri.@@Sureela_Dimagh

The genius of Nazakat Ali and Salamat Ali was that they could sing an uncommon raag like Gavati for a full 20 minutes or more and at the same time sing a bandish in malkauns or todi for 5 minutes. Incidentally, there is a raagmala duet by Salamat Ali khan and the nightingale Sur Kokila Lata Mangeshkar from the unreleased film Amar Samadhi.

They were legends. This Thumri reminds me Ustad Base Ghulam sab's Pahadi Thumri as well.
