Turin, Italy, September 26, 2018 - A fresh start with heavy points at stake, a clash of superstars that gave the fans in Turin a significant taste of the Final Six: Brazil and Russia opened the last FIVB World Championship round in a very intense challenge, decided at the tie break, 3-2 (20-25, 21-25, 25-22, 25-23, 15-12) for the Rio 2016 Olympic champions.
The 9,000-strong Italian crowd at Turin's Pala Alpitour responded with big participation, as Russia dominated the first half of the match and Brazil fought back.
Backup setter William Arjona was key in Brazil's comeback, sent in by coach Renan Dal Zotto after two lost sets and eager to exploit the chance: two aces and a clever strategy allowed Wallace De Souza to accumulate 22 points after a shocking start, with all three wing spikers neutralized by the Russian block (3 out of 20 in the first set).
Russia kept control of the first line for two sets (9 blocks to 1) before losing track of the Brazilian spikers; Dmitry Volkov (23 points) was the offensive leader as both Egor Kliuka and Maxim Mikhaylov lacked precision (three attacking errors each).
An ace by Lucas Saatkamp was the first breaker of the tie break (5-4) and Mikhaylov responded (5-6), before Wallace completed his personal comeback from a negative first set by dominating the central part of the fifth.

The Brazilian team is the world's number 1 for nothing! They were not intimidated by the tall guys of Russia! Just keep fighting guys with greater defense, high percentage attacks, more service aces and less errors hopefully you will beat team USA on friday!👏🏻🤘☝🏽🏅🇧🇷
Brazil were never intimidated by taller players. Look at their all conquering team of 2000s. They had Giba at 194 cm and Mourilo at 190cm in it. And they fucking ripped every blocker in that period and won all the championships. No other sporting team had such long success history.

Um russo fez um interessante comentário aqui embaixo. Ele disse que, se o Brasil não tivesse substituído o Bruno pelo William teríamos perdido. Isto todos sabemos, mas o legal foi a justificativa que deu. O William conhece bem o jogo do levantador Butko porque já jogou muito contra ele nos enfrentamentos pelo mundial de clubes entre o Sada e o Zenit e que enquanto o William foi levantador do Sada não teve para os russos.
Não há matemática em esportes, q não é uma ciência exata! As vezes um se encaixa melhor q o outro q não está no seu melhor dia. Ainda bem q temos os dois no time. Eu não consigo entender é como o William, q está c/ 39, foi menosprezado pelo Bernardinho ficando fora da Seleção por anos!! Tão inexato é o esporte q eu, pessoalmente, nunca achei o Douglas gde coisa e o cara tá jogando demais, calando minha boca! Enfim, temos material de primeira e é por isto q somos top!

Teríamos perdido se o Brasil não tivesse entrado no jogo e a nossa defesa não tivesse funcionado tão lindamente, Pq quando se joga com o Willian a defesa tem que funcionar, Pq ficamos sem bloqueio. Claro que ele teve méritos, mas o conjunto teve um mérito maior!!
@@uauclic2459 Acho que Williaw poderia estar na seleção já no ciclo olímpicos dos jogos de Londres 2012. Bruno já está provando a sua titularidade nesse período e o segundo levantador deveria ser Williaw. No ciclo dos jogos do rio, apesar do williaw ter ido pra Olimpiada, no Mundial de 2014 e outros campeonatos ele deveria ter ido. Só acho que no ciclo de 2008 ele n deveria estar, pq Marcelinho estava muito bem

É,mas não me sai da minha cabeça aquele 2 a 0 que o Brasil colocou pra cima deles lá na na Inglaterra na olimpíada e o técnico deles fez uma troca ousada,tirou o mursesk do meio de rede e colocou ele de oposto,o resultado todos nós conhecemos.fomos engolidos por eles de forma petodiva grotesca e esmagadora.

Sou brasileiro, estou na torcida pelo Brasil, mas aqui pra nós: Muserskiy, é bem melhor que Lucão...Muserskiy, é tão bom no bloqueio quanto no ataque, o ataque dele, é fatal, não tem como defender. O Lucão, oscila muito, sempre perdendo o tempo da bola...Sempre atacando com as pontas dos dedos, e quando ele consegue pegar o tempo da bola, ele muitas vezes ataca pra fora. Ele é muito bom no bloqueio, nesse jogo, não estava conseguindo ler o tempo de ataque dos adversários...Ele é bem melhor que o Muserskiy, no saque. Os dois são gente boa, humildes , não são prepotentes, arrogantes! Lucão e ele, são jogadores de primeira grandeza.
