They are the best power/prog metal band in Japan in my opinion, and the guitarist Syu is a world class guitarist, many Japanese guitarists have been influenced by him, including midori from lovebites
Galneryus is a supergroup. Perhaps they are the Dream Theater of Japan? Except Masatoshi-san can sing circles around Labrie! SYU-san is world-class. I put him up there next to Petrucci, Romeo, and Kiko.
(sorry for my bad english) Thanks for the reaction man. Galneryus is one of my Favorite bands. They have been around for almost 20 years. There was also another singer (2003-2008) Before the Current singer (2009-present). And(SHO) the Current singer is Really amazing. He is 50 in this live (55 now). The older singer was amazing too (mostly in the low-Middle Notes). Galneryus has 13 albums. (5 albums with The older singer and 8 albums with this singer). I recommend (The howling darkness) the album version. Because he can't use high Notes like Before. But his Lower Notes is getting more appealing. So i recommend the album version if you want to hear the full Power of this song because this is darker and heavier than their usual stuff
Galneryus has done heaps of amazing songs also for the first half of the band they had a different vocalist YAMA-B and there style evolves and changes throughout the years. So some good songs I would recommend are the force of courage, raise my sword, angel of salvation, brutal spiral of emotions, whatever it takes (raise our hands), T.F.F.B, destiny, hunting for your dream, ultimate sacrifice, everlasting, whisper in the red sky, struggle for the freedom flag, united flag, and chasing the wind.
Well, I'm somewhat early to this so I'm gonna risk leaving a bit of a long comment. First, I can definitely relate to the feeling of not being able to listen to BAND-MAID the entire day 😆 hang in there, Po! 💜 And second. I can never join your streams (crappy internet) and I'm too broke to support you on Patreon, but since you just listened to Galneryus I gotta take a chance and suggest a song for you to check out. This band was the first time I actively looked up a japanese band. I went through a lot to find them (these were pre-spotify times) cause of one song I randomly heard that hit me so hard I cried. Song is called Requiem. It has no vocals, just pure guitar bliss. If you can and feel like doing so, check it out. And if you make a video about it, I'll be sure to come watch it 🤘 Not a lot of people get around getting to know this band and it's a shame cause they have some serious gems. I'm sorry about your winter blues. Hope you get to listen to enough Mincho to improve your mood ❤️🔥 Rock on, Po! 🕊️😎🤘🖤
Thank you for sharing your feelings. I am actually going thru a major winter blues or I should say" holiday blues ". I guess it's just because I am too busy with my job, kids, holiday preparation, etc. and no time to rest, or treat myself (also I haven't seen my family in Japane for a long time). Watching your videos or others is the only me time at the moment so thank you for keeping doing this! Sorry for the long comment but I just wanted to tell you thank you😊
@@vetelgyus I just tried a reaction to Angel Of Salvation from an other reactor (it's the MV though) and it's the type of Power Metal what made me start saying that I generally don't like Power Metal. It's really impressive from a technical standpoint, but I don't like these type of epic/happy sounding melodies and the vocalstyle. It somewhat reminds me of Disney cartoon music (way better quality of course) and I generally can't stand that type of cartoon music either. I understand why people love it and it's really impressive as far as musicianship goes, but it's a tough one for me to get through. But I will keep giving them a try every once in a while, who knows if I will change my mind after a while. I have already gotten used to some other Power Metal bands like Unlucky Morpheus, Lovebites and Mary's Blood (as well as some stuff by Symphony X), but I generally prefer their music that is not pure Power Metal and is mixed with other styles and that might be the same thing for Galneryus for me (if they have stuff like that). I am curious to see a reaction to this track by Ryan though and will certainly watch the reaction if he does one.
@@MaartenT I totally get that! I usually see that people don't dig the type of epic-sounding melodies-that you mentioned-in metal songs. in my case, I'm a bit biased haha. I'm a classical pianist so I've really grown to like the melodies used in neoclassical/power metal. Galneryus is my favorite band because they align with the type of music I like most. That's also why I appreciate any reactions to them, whether they're positive or negative ones! *Angel of Salvation* is my absolute favorite song from them just because of the chord progressions that are used. If other people aren't into it, that's fine. But I think one thing we can all agree on is that these guys are insanely skilled haha. And just a heads up, a lot of their music is similar to this-minus being directly based on a classical piece. so I'm unsure as to whether or not you will change your mind. but anyway, thank you for your input man! I'm glad to see that you reacted to them 😄
Still not 100% for me even though all the instrumentalists are extremely good. But I did enjoy this one at least for the most part. I am just not a huge fan when power metal bands go "epic" or basically go to major (not a huge fan of songs in major in general) and they tend to do that a lot in the other tracks I have heard by them. This track luckily didn't have a huge amount of that. This tracks is probably my favourite of them of the ones that I have heard. I had to turn off some of their other songs in the past and it didn't even come close to that for this one. I am personally not the biggest fan of the vocalist when he goes high up in his range, since I just usually prefer lower vocals over higher ones, but I enjoyed his vocals in general on this one. And there is no denying that he is a very good vocalist. All the members of this band deserve all the praise they get, without question. I enjoyed this track all in all though and it's at least a track I might check out again. I am happy that I decided to give them an other chance with this one. I guess my comment shows how much I am struggling with my preconceptions (because of other tracks I have checked out) compared to how much I enjoyed the track. That was a great performance for sure.
It is a prog power metal, they don't just do standard epic melodies, most of their songs aren't like that, they tend to be more into the melodic side and neoclassical side of metal while still being proggy
(sorry for my bad english) Most of their songs aren't like that. Only (under the force of courage) album or (ultimate sacrifice) album have this. For SHO's (The singer) high tone is Really amazing. In Here (2017 live), he is 50. He joined the band when he was 42. If you want to hear his Pure high Notes. The (angel of salvation) album and songs like (temptation through the night), (promised flag) and (angel of salvation) can Really Show you What SHO can do with his high tone (i recommend live). He is 55 right now. His Lower Notes has got more appealing, he can't use high Notes like Before. It's amazing that how he can still keep up. If you like Lower Notes and darker stuff. You can listen to Their newer albums like (into the purgatory) and (union gives strength). Both of them have songs like (The followers)-(union gives strength) that are very different and it will Really surprise you that What this band can do.
And btw you can listen to Their older stuff (older singer). He has a distinctive voice, he is Really amazing at Low-Middle Notes. Galneryus as a band is Really amazing (13 albums)
@@A1000-b9s Thank you for the information and redommendations. But sorry, I am now checking out a reaction to Angel Of Salvation (I am sure I have already listened to this one) and it's this type of Power Metal that I really don't like as far as melodies and vocals go. It all sounds like it's in a major key and is way too epic/happy for me. It reminds me of music of a children's cartoon to be honest, albeit way better as far as quality goes of course. But I will try to check out other songs if I see reactions to them and will do my best to give them an honest chance.
@@MaartenT no problem. As i said. You can listen to Their older stuff with yama-b. It's so different from SHO. They have 5 albums with yama-b (flag of punishment)-(advance to the fall)-(beyond the end of despair)-(one for all-all for one)-(reincarnation). All of them are great. For the start i recommend (EVERLASTING-the album version, not The MV version)-(silent revelation)-(shiver)-(seasons cry)-(shriek of the vengeance)-(chasing the wind). They have a LOT of great songs. For the start these are great songs.

That vocal 51th or 55th year old, damn that voice old man, really like that
Now he is 57 lol
Galneryus are amazing. And I love this song. So much nice progression throughout and the musicianship is just impeccable.
