Great explanation!
Just to reiterate to make sure I didn't misunderstand, refocus no longer has the "you must have spent at least 1 focus point to refocus" caveat in the remaster, correct? Meaning rather than only ever being able to recover 1 point, you can theoretically refocus 3 times in a row to get them all back assuming time permits?
This is correct. Say you have 3 focus points. You spent two in combat. Now you can spend basically 20 minutes to get both points back. If you spent all 3 then it is 30 minutes.
... And in addition to that, the class feats that would otherwise overcome this are now a single feat that refocuses your whole pool in 10 minutes and is less essential
Simple, clear, and fun! Couldn't ask for a better explanation. Thanks, dude!
Love the idea of a little sorcerer on your shoulder
This was the best explanation for focus points I have ever seen, well done!
OMG! Someone on RUclips who knows how to pronounce "eidolon!"
This is a great summary. Any chance of covering the even more niche focus cantrips?
I kinda wish they just renamed them to “Focus Powers” or something and we didn’t use the term “Focus Cantrip” anywhere. Other than that, god I love the focus spell system. Feels like the perfect evolution between the “Powers” system of 4E and the “PB per day” system of 5E.
Now that it is 10 minutes, it feels like we could use a “Refocus” Action with a 10 minute cooldown, or some Focus Spell Reactions or Free Actions. Like being able to quicken yourself could give the Fighter “Surge” fantasy, or being able to Spellshape using a Focus Spell can give some new blasting power or freedom. Or maybe a new Focus Point blasting Archetype. So much potential that I’d love for them to add even more.
Totally. Shame they didn't rename it in the remaster.
They were literally called "Powers" in the 2018 PF2 Playtest. Playtesters (by which I mean the PF1 grognards) hated the term because it was too much of a reminder that PF2 shares design language with DND 4e, lol. So they renamed them Focus spells when they removed Resonance points and added Focus Points.
Agreed. It's an unnecessary stumbling block for new players. They see Items that can only be used by spell casters and don't understand why they don't qualify for the item. "I can cast a spell" no, no you can't.
Oh, I’m early!
I guess we're just going to skip psychic as they don't work the same.
Oracles are in a weird spot too until we get the next player core.
Really helpful. But where was the love for Monk?
I will wait for Player Core 2 to love the monk!
Eidolon is greek in origin, so I believe it is pronounced "Eye-duh-lawn"
It's Greek, so it's pronounced like Ehh-doe-lone. The leading sound is a pure e sound like in egg, but extended. The o sounds are closest to long o, like in only.
Which syllable gets the stress?
@@Kiaulen the first one.
