A man she trusted betrayed her trust Scott Borchetta and when they show him I want to spit . I love Better Man acoustic Taylor and I wish she had recorded this song since she wrote it.
It was written right about the time of her break up with Calvin Harris after he released a song about her "my way". There's even a line it "I wish I could forget when it was magic" - she famously called their relationship magical in 2016. At the time this song was released was when she had said she was taking a break and not recording any new songs. Little Big Town have said that Taylor sent them this song and that it was personal song that meant alot to her. I think this was a way for her to still take a break from recording but still tell her side of the story like she always has done, through music.
Its a country song. Taylor is a pop star this song needed to be country her transition to pop was barely smoothing out it would have made no sense for her to then jump right back into country for one song she would have gotten ALL the backlash
One of my favorite performances is her singing Red on the seine, paris. You should check it out. She also plays to a small intimate crowd during that set

What I love is that I had no idea this song was written by her until prob like months ago, and I absolutely loved it at first listen so the fact that it's hers is so special and proves that she's the big love of my life.

She still stayed loyal and thankful for everything he did for years after she started begging to own her masters. Crazy she didn't even build up resentment through all that. She still felt like she owned him credit for signing her.
