Hello from Southern California. I'm 70, was a natural strawberry blond until my mid 40s when it darkened. My hairdresser colored it for years but I started doing it myself. I now use golden blond which looks more realistic for my age. When I look at all the stuff they buy to do a DIY job I have to think it wouldn't cost much more to have a professional do it.
Well, I have hair longer than her and I just had a professional put highlights in on my almost completely Virginia hair. It's the last few inches that still have a bit of fake dye but I will soon get that cut off to be virgin again, other than the highlights. But my hair is THICK and LONG, to my hips. It cost me about $200 for JIST the highlights. I couldn't imagine a full dye job. At home is A LOT cheaper but the risks are greater compared to a good hairdresser.
I asked my hairdresser to dye my hair. She said all I can do is a full color or large streaks. Not all professionals know what they are doing. Last time they cut off 4-6 " of my hair when I asked for a trim.
I'll never understand the need to be blonde to the point of ruining your hair. I see so many women with damaged bleached hair. Healthy hair is always a win for me plus a color that best matches your skin tone.
I understand the desire to be blonde - it’s been driven into the psyche of women (in the USA, at least) that blondes are sexier, more desirable, and have more fun. Models and actresses from Jean Harlow to Farrah Fawcett to Gigi Hadid - blonde. The stereotype persists, even if women don’t consciously think it does. It’s everywhere. It blows. It’s perpetuated mostly by older men, though women play a role by trying to achieve an impossible look for most - platinum blonde. It’s such an outdated color, too - who really wants to look like Mae West? Sorry, I’m rambling. My advice is, if you want platinum blonde hair for a few weeks, buy a decent wig. Don’t destroy your hair. Tedx done. 😊
Totally agree, HB. Her skin is pale and a darker, ash blonde would have been best. And like you keep saying, a great pair of scissors makes a big difference.
Things I have learned from your channel. 1. DIY need patience and time to get it right. 2. How other colors interact with dyed colors…. 3. Don’t put food on hair…. 4. No one can cut the back bit of their own hair well
Been there. But with many bond building and moisturizing treatments over months, everything that did not break off is still attached to my head and looks and feels healthy. It took me a few weeks until it wasn't gummy anymore. It is a lot of work and all the bleaching is not worth it but I am so glad, that I didn't shave it AGAIN.
Something that I probably never understand is why they don't go to a beauty salon with a professional who knows exactly how to give them the result they want in their hair? 🤨 It may be expensive, but damn it, it will be more expensive to recover such destroyed hair.
Re: Go to the salon! Yes! Not to mention the time saved and angst avoided! Time is money. And: your house/apartment/room doesn’t stink of bleaching products.
She’s shown how to wreck you hair in 14 days! My late mother wanted silver hair back in the late 60’s early 70’s. Her hair was a beautiful brown/black. She wanted to do it “on the cheap”. She closed herself you in the bathroom for about 3 hours. She came out to use the phone in the kitchen. I stared at her, mouth agape. Her beautiful dark hair was orange! Like UT’s burnt orange! She says, “Mommy doesn’t look like Mommy anymore, does she?” She bundled me up into the car & we made a bee-line for her hairdresser in town. My mother was very lucky she didn’t melt her hair! She had nightmares for weeks.
Mine did a similar thing. Wanted to be blonde,it went bright orange. She had a heart attack before she could get to the salon. My sister brought her,her pink dressing gown to the hospital. She never got over having been in hospital looking like that in her pink dressing gown. Hahahaha
The pink was likely a semi-permanent colour. That does zero damage to hair... I actually love the pastel pink on her... and the shorter length made her hair bouncier.
Her hair was so pretty to begin with. I used light ash brown once on my hair 20 years ago and can still remember a lady saying to me in Borders Bookstore "Your hair is a little green" and I never used ash again.
They just really don’t know what they’re doing. ‘I don’t know why it got so bad from just 2 rounds of bleach’ - 2 rounds of bleach on the same head of hair is really aggressive lightening. I would never on scalp a client twice in a short period of time. And I don’t know one hairdresser that would attempt an on scalp bleach on themselves either.
Another innocent beautiful head of hair murdered 😭RIP you poor babies. She had such beautiful hair, fast growing hair = more touch ups needed that's why I quit bleaching years ago

I went through phases of bleaching and then growing out my hair, then bleaching...then growing out. It took me a long time to figure out that bleached hair needs a lot of upkeep and now I just have highlights, which get redone when it suits me. I really feel for the woman in the vid, that feeling of 'oh shit what have I done' is something most people who bleach their own hair will experience!!
Waist length hair in 5 years from what length?? Every professional I've ever been to has noted how quick my hair grows and it still took me 3 years to grow black box dye out to a shoulder length. What is her secret???
I have fast growing hair and grew out a pixie cut to a 'just above my shoulders' bob in nine months- I did avoid using straighteners and only used the hairdryer once a week. I also tried to avoid tying it back/putting it up and only had my colour done once during that time. It worked, but was it worth it? Nope, it nearly drove me round the bend 😆😆 and last night I had my hair cut back to a pixie!! On the plus side, I'm almost back to my natural colour (where on earth did all that grey come from!), and my hairdresser is going to add some colour next week. After years of (tint) highlights, I'm tempted to try a rich copper blonde
5 years at 12 inches a year is pretty normal.. so waist length in 5 years isn't that strange... I went from bald like with a razor to the bottom of my shoulder blade in 3... And I had some cuts and trims in that time.
Mine grows at a glacial pace, even with 2-3 times a year very small trims. I always envy people who's hair seems to just shoot out of their scalps like one of those "magic" hair growing dolls. Lol
In January I had my hair cut to shoulder length. It's now November & my hair is about 4 inches above my waist. At one point my hair went to my mid thigh. I guess mine grows insanely quickly.
Honestly, from someone whose dealt with bad bleaching damage on the past, one of the worst things you can do is chop off several inches because it's damaged all the way to the root. If youre not going to buzzcut, you should try and retain the length so when it does start to snap off you can get regular hair cuts and wont be left with those awful short bob/pixie bleach damaged hairsyles we see.
I think it is also important to mention that darker colours also tends to come out much darker on bleached hair. A medium blonde becomes dark blonde or even brown if you dont chose the colour wisely. She could have gone with an 8 or even 9, depending on the hue. There is so much that can go wrong thats why I have stopped doing my hair myself and go to the hairdresser instead. I never made a single good experience with box dye in probably 10 years... never comes out well and what is worst that you dont know whether it is a colour or a lightener when you pick a light blonde shade. I once got a 'light' blonde shade (it was an 8 so not super light) from the drug store and it didnt say anything about lightening and the base colours on the box were all blonde and the target colour darker. I applied it and ended up with a copper shade and it lifted my roots. I was so devastated. Never touched a box dye ever again... I had to go to a hairdresser afterwards but they also didnt manage to fully fix it. Thank god it was around may and the sun fixed the problem quite nicely 😂.
Why did she keep applying heat?? She kept saying that’s why it lightened more the first time and then she did it again. Why wouldn’t you apply the heat to the bottom? 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️

@@alanahorner8012 but even a cheaper wig to test the colour on you is preferred over destroying and then trying to colour correct your hair? I mean, it can take years to recover from if you really destroy it. Plus, the mental anguish, etc. There are untold soft costs to consider too.
@@alanahorner8012 $30 wig vs screwed up hair? I'd pick $30 every time
She perfectly captured the look when youve realized you completely effed up your hair 😳😂
Really? I don't understand what it is with everybody wanting to go blonde??? she looks so good and her hair looks so nice the color it was
I'll never understand the need to be blonde to the point of ruining your hair. I see so many women with damaged bleached hair. Healthy hair is always a win for me plus a color that best matches your skin tone.
Bleach is addictive...
Let people enjoy what they enjoy. Their blonde hair isn't hurting you.
@@kathleen1697 but it's destroying their hair!
I wonder why they don't choose to get highlights instead
@@kathleen1697 you are absolutely right. It's not hurting me and it's their choice 👍
Tedx done. 😊
You forgot THEE blonde of all time 😲
Lol, platinum is beautifull and will mever go out of fashion
One day they will listen to you! Love the facial expressions. You have made my day!😂😂
Totally agree, HB.
Again? Giiiirl... 🙄
Something that I probably never understand is why they don't go to a beauty salon with a professional who knows exactly how to give them the result they want in their hair? 🤨 It may be expensive, but damn it, it will be more expensive to recover such destroyed hair.
Exactly. They have no common sense.
We don't have 700 bucks
@@vikak827 but clearly this girl has some to buy a fuck ton of hair products
Might as well use that to go to the hair salon instead 🤷♀️ 😐
Re: Go to the salon! Yes!
Not to mention the time saved and angst avoided! Time is money. And: your house/apartment/room doesn’t stink of bleaching products.
The peachy pink colour looks better with her skin tone i feel than the blonde did
You’ve no idea how much I LOVE your videos & the expression on your face is brilliant 🤩
Hahahaha
HB, you should sell audio of your reactions. I would legit pay for a, “She is ruining her hair! Aaaaarrrgg!” ringtone. 😂
Excellent idea.
I want a, TAKE FINE SECTIONS ring tone.
@@rocco2110 brilliant!!
Hair Buddha is back to brighten my day! 😀 We're always happy at the end of your videos Hair Buddha, bc we got to spend time with you. 🌞❤️🌈
Thank you
@@hair-buddha, You're welcome. ❤️
Omg I just watched this the other day and I thought of Hair Buddha. So crazy he’s reacting to it now. Love your channel!!
Hello! I love your videos and it has helped me learn a little English. I love your accent! (and your videos are so funny)
Saludos desde Latinoamérica🙌
Another innocent beautiful head of hair murdered 😭RIP you poor babies. She had such beautiful hair, fast growing hair = more touch ups needed that's why I quit bleaching years ago
Your videos deserve way more views! Much more informed of a reaction video and it is based around educating rather than just pointing a finger and laughing. Love your content!
She looks pretty tbh
Game of Thrones has a lot to answer for 🤦🏻♀️🤣🤣
I don't miss having to bleach my hair or having to do the upkeep that comes with it. I'll stick with warm blonde from now on... Lol but hats off to all the other people who don't mind all the craziness that comes with bleached hair. 😚
Oh that silly girl just destroyed her hair 🤣 and kept on doing it 🤣🤣🤣
I've been growing my hair for a few years myself too. I'll never try to dye my hair again. I think I'll stick with wigs. Go from purple to blue in the same week and not damage my real hair. ❤️ Personally opinion of course.
100% agree with wigs.
It's still attached to my head, that's all I can ask for.....
- 💔😭😭😭🥶 - my hairdresser heart bleeds.
Wow, her hair was gorgeous and have to admit this video gave me anxiety, but actually really liked the pink looked pretty good
I have learned a lot from watching Hair Buddha!
1. Always do your research before doing your own hair.
2. If you are going to cut your own hair, invest in the proper scissors.
3. Always take fine sections!
4. Use 20 volumes!
5. Finally, if you have any doubts about doing your own hair, go to a salon, and let the professionals do it!
I was bleach blond for years., but when it started breaking off that was it for me. I went back to my natural color , and it grew back out. I couldn't be happier with the way it looks now. Blond is to much work. Its not worth it .
Such a pretty girl, she suits being dark as it brings out her eyes and compliments her skin tone much better, she just looks a little washed out now….I’m sure it won’t be long till she’s back to where she started 😆
Her hair grows soooo fast. Extremely jealous!
Me too! I would never have touched my hair if it looked the way hers did originally.
I had a haircut and my hair never grew back the same length. I wish I never cut it so short.
Seeing her ruining her hair is frustrating
Oh man bleach damage videos are so satisfying
Why do people scrunch the foil, it can leave spots
You give the best advice!! You the man!!✌🏼🤍
The pink-ish colour looked great on her!
Oh...
Oh...
Oh...
Yeah, you said it. No words.
Hi Hair Buddha!Sending love to you and your beautifull family❤It makes me sad when people hurt their hair! That is why I love my Hairdresser so much!✂
My heart breaks for you. I would have ugly cried. Kudos for not coming apart.
I'm so happy to see how much your channel has grown!!! Wow!!!
Your natural color is your best color. Blonde doesn't compare to what you had to begin with. But, you never know till you try. I applaud you for your bravery.
All I can say, she’s SO lucky!! We’ve all seen worse bleach fails🥴
I think people forget that guess what Hairdressers go to school to learn how to bleach and mix colors. It is like chemistry.
My brother has a friend who shaves her head and spends her hairdresser allowance on high end wigs. You can’t tell that they are wigs and she always looks amazing.
I feel so sorry for the people who have this happen to them : (
I don’t. It’s a result of poor judgement. So many bad decisions. They could have completely avoided this.
Good morning Hair Buddha,
It's always so nice to watch one of your videos with my first cup of coffee. Thank you!
Her hair actually looked nice after she put in the pink and blended her roots. Surprising! Her natural hair was so amazing. What a shame she had to cut so much off, after 5 yrs of growing. Lucky her hair grows fast.
The color, the damage...what a HOT mess!! Great tutorial on how to totally destroy your hair!
I loooove him, his facial expressions and reactions to people's stupidness.
I just went through a very tough time and your videos helped me sooo much. Thank you Hair Buddha, from the bottom of my heart. 🖤♥️ Please make more videos cause I think I've watched them all. 😅
Hope you are in a much better place now 💐
I just don’t understand why anyone would ruin their beautiful dark hair trying to go blonde. Dark hair is so beautiful.
Nobody looks worse than me with dark brown hair. "It's not nice to fool Mother Nature!"
What a shame. For someone who is recovering from treatment Ling hair again would be a dream
Her hair is tougher than anybody could ever expect😂
I think it looked great at the end 💕
Well, somebody has had a few House of the Dragon fans in his salon recently, lol
I just love these videos 😊 More of them please.
As long as people don’t learn from others mistakes, video’s will be on internet 😅
This girl talking like she knows what she's doing, I can't🤣 another great vid
She looked so good with the ash blonde colour , she should have done a few lowlights and highlights and left it at that !
Pasta anyone?
😂
Waist length hair in 5 years from what length?? Every professional I've ever been to has noted how quick my hair grows and it still took me 3 years to grow black box dye out to a shoulder length. What is her secret???
I'm wondering that too
I have fast growing hair and grew out a pixie cut to a 'just above my shoulders' bob in nine months- I did avoid using straighteners and only used the hairdryer once a week.
Luckily I'm a natural blonde so to get platinum just a quick bleach of the roots and I'm good. I feel for her that she destroyed her hair that sux. :(
I watch all your videos! I have learnt so much from you🖤🌸 greetings from Spain
I love hair buddha
She had 5 years to save money to pay a salon to bleach her hair right.
The pink with dark roots does look better on her than the blond tho. And the pink can be added without damaging her hair. So that's not so bad.
One word! TRAGIC!
Devastating! I would die inside.
Why did she keep applying heat?? She kept saying that’s why it lightened more the first time and then she did it again. Why wouldn’t you apply the heat to the bottom? 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
This is exactly why I have a licensed professional do my hair
OMG she had such beautiful hair
Hope you're doing well, Buddha!
She literally destroyed a natural head of hair!
Oh, dear. I have to state the obvious: This young lady is a perfect candidate for wigs. Multiple wigs. Oh, that poor hair! lt was so beautiful...😢💔
If you have hair down to your butt and you want your hair to be a different color, get a wig. You have a million choices with wigs.
I'd love to see you discuss different hairstyles, crazy salon experiences when you saved someone's hair disaster, or just stories about co-workers and your work environment.
Homegirl deserves a Darwin award. maybe after her hair falls off for the 5th time she'll go to a salon.
Your comments and facial expressions are priceless! Just love your videos
To be honest she doesn't look bad, she needs to keep conditioning, and lay off the bleach.
That colour in the middle suited her so well!!
