So basically if you have short barrel use green gas(black gas is not worth the price/damage)
And if you have long gun use black gas (if its within limits)
Also it seems that running too havy BB doesn't really give you that many more Joule's of energy for the speed you lose

First of all. It is always better to use lower pressure gas to avoid damaging the replica.
If you want to raise the energy of the replica it is better to use a longer barrel and heavier bbs. I would treat higher pressure gas as a last resort because it can devastate parts of the replica (theoretically TM recommends 144a for MWS).
Regarding the speed/energy of heavy bbs, I recommend the material: "Why You Should Be Using Heavy BBs For Airsoft" from Explosive Enterprises. The author did a good job and explains how the speed and energy changes.

This is the reason why gbb and hpa should be banned. Its not fair, when you can so easily change the fps.

No. This is the reason to check your replica before the game. To be safe and don’t hurt anyone
