  • This is a video about my Altarwind Hurry Gurdy. I go over the parts and how it works, to the best of my knowledge.

I have a Merry wood from Alairwind and I love it. Found out that I physically cannot play a guitar. (shoulder problems). Funny you mention that you are getting another gurdy from Poland, I have one on order from there that hopefully will be here in November 2024. Yeah I REALLY like the adjustable bridges.

Hey just for some help - the trompette/tirant string has nothing to do with cranking back and forth. The chien (dog) should sit flat on the soundboard and buzz when you accent the wheel (also there is no reason to un-adjust the tirant when you take the trompette string off - just leave it tightened). Adjusting the tirant changes the cranking speed required to cause the trompette to buzz.
Also it sounds like you have too much string pressure on the melody bridge (chanterelles). You should be able to use the allen wrench to decrease the string pressure on the bridge.
Did you order an MM Saphona for your next gurdy? Enjoy!
