I have listened to the instrumental of this song so many times I know it like the back of my hand. It is permanently etched into my memory. I can recite every note and every pattern change for each section of the song.
This is the closest cover I have ever heard to capturing the feeling of the original song. It's not perfect; nothing is, but... being able to capture the original feeling of the song, I think- is probably one of the most important things a cover can do. Even if it's not necessarily... note accurate- or even if it doesn't capture *every* single pattern correctly (it does like 85% of the time and I can excuse this through how difficult it would even be to compose an arrangement for this), _this_ is the definitive cover. You have managed to do something that nobody else has done, and that is to convey the OOMPH of this song. The FORCE of this song.
This song has a lot of *power*. It's a very *OOMPH* song. It's not a calm song. The melody on its own might convey that, but the rest of the song is in direct contrast to the melody. The melody is what keeps the song together. It's what manages to turn a completely chaotic mess of an arrangement into one of the hardest hitting compositions ever. A lot of covers focus _way_ too much on the melody, and they're especially limited by only having one instrument. You _need_ every single component here. You can't just have the melody and sub-melody or something else. You _need_ every ingredient: and you delivered. Like I said, _too_ many covers focus too much on the melody, the meat of the song is _not_ in the melody, it's in everything BUT.
Using the percussion for- I mean, come on- I can't convey what it is through text but you'll be able to tell, was a genius move. Using forceful, powerful percussion like that conveys the same tone of the original without having to use synthetic instruments. The fact that you also caught that the opening notes to the song in the first pre-chorus (and elsewhere) is also fucking rad.
AND FUCKING FINALLY SOMEBODY GETS THE ENDING TO THE SONG RIGHT: IT'S FUCKING OOMPH! IT'S POWERFUL! IT PACKS A PUNCH! IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE MOST INTENSE AND POWERFUL PART OF THE SONG AND FINALLY SOMEBODY GOT IT RIGHT.
