    WHAT IS THE ATHEIST EXPERIENCE?
    The Atheist Experience is a weekly call-in television show in Austin, Texas geared at a non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.
    The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
    We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

      ●WE LIVE ON A FLAT STATIONARY PLANE WITH A FIRMAMENT ABOVE.
      ITS A CLOSED SYSTEM. WE CANNOT LEAVE THE EARTH. THEYVE NEVER BEEN TO SPACE. NOTHING GOES IN OR OUT OF THE FIRMAMENT.
      THE ROTATING GLOBE IS A LIE!
      WHY? TO MAKE US FEEL INSIGNIFICANT. THEYRE HIDING CREATION/INTELLIGENT DESIGN.
      THE GOLDEN RATIO AND FLOWER OF LIFE PROVE ITS INTELLIGENT DESIGN.
      A FLAT STATIONARY PLANE WITH A FIRMAMENT ABOVE PROVES ITS INTELLIGENT DESIGN.
      ●"WHAT ABOUT METEORS?"
      ALL CRATERS ARE ROUND, THEREFORE ALL METEORS WOULD HAVE TO IMPACT AT A PERFECT 90 DEGREES. THIS ASTRONOMICALLY AND MATHEMATICALLY IMPOSSIBALL!
      ESPECIALLY IF WE ARE SUPPOSEDLY ROTATING 1000 MILES AN HOUR. HURLING THROUGH SPACE SPIRALING AROUND THE SUN AT 36,000 MILES AN HOUR IN A GALAXY MOVING 1.3 MILLION MILES AN HOUR THROUGH THE UNIVERSE. I MEAN TALK ABOUT A MOVING TARGET! LOL
      NOPE! THEY JUST WANT US TO THINK CRATERS ARE CAUSED BY OBJECTS FROM FAKE SPACE. (WE ARE PROTECTED IN A CLOSED SYSTEM)
      CRATERS ARE REALLY WHERE GIANT TREES/TREE STUMPS ONCE STOOD!
      ●THE SUN AND MOON ARE LOCAL LUMINARIES. THE SUN IS NOT 93 MILLION MILES AWAY. THE MOON IS NOT 250+ THOUSAND MILES AWAY. THE MOON IS SELF ILLUMINATING. THE PHASES OCCUR REGARDLESS OF THE SUNS POSITION.
      I DONT THINK THE MOON IS EVEN A SOLID SPHERICAL OBJECT EITHER.
      THE SUN IS MORE CONSISTENT WITH THAT OF A HEAT LAMP.
      ●WATER WOULD HAVE TO FLOW UP HILL FOR A GLOBE TO WORK. "THERE IS NO UPHILL ON A GLOBE" SAYS GLOBERS. GIVEN THAT LOGIC , THERES NO DOWN HILL ON A GLOBE EITHER. WHY WOULD WATER FLOW AT ALL? CANT HAVE IT BOTH WAYS. IF IT WERE A GLOBE ROTATING ON AN AXIS 1000 MILES AN HOUR AND HURLING THROUGH SPACE TOWARDS POLARIS THEN NORTH IS TOP/ FRONT ... EQUATOR IS THE CENTRE/MIDDLE AND SOUTH IS BOTTOM /BACK ... THE EARTHS MOTION WOULD CAUSE DIRECTIONAL ORIENTATION...
      WE ALL KNOW THE EQUATOR IS THE CENTRE / MIDDLE. .. THEN WE ARE SUPPOSEDLY ROTATING 1000 MILES AN HOUR ON AN AXIS WHICH MEANS CENTRIFUGAL FORCE IS GREATEST AT THE EQUATOR.
      THE IMAGINARY FORCE YOU REFER TO AS GRAVITY WOULD GRADUALLY GET STRONGER TOWARDS THE POLES .
      ITS AN "OBLATE SPHEROID"... "PEAR SHAPED" ... "A LITTLE CHUBBIER BELOW THE EQUATOR" ...
      THEN ON TOP OF THAT THE EARTH IS HURLING THROUGH THE GALAXY AND SPIRALING AROUND THE SUN AT 37,000 MILES AN HOUR TOWARDS POLARIS. .. NORTH BOUND! NORTH IS FRONT!
      THE PHYSICS WOULD BE LIKE A WET FOOTBALL SPIRALING THROUGH THE AIR. WATER WOULD MOVE FRONT TO BACK ...NORTH TO SOUTH... AND BE THROWN OFF AT THE CENTRE/ MIDPOINT / EQUATOR .
      NILE RIVER IS OVER 4200 MILES LONG AND FLOWS FROM SOUTH TO NORTH.
      THE NILE RIVER WOULD HAVE 572 MILES OF CURVATURE AT ITS MIDPOINT (APEX)
      THEREFORE THE NILE RIVER WOULD HAVE TO FLOW UP AND OVER 572 MILES OF CURVATURE OVER A DISTANCE OF 4200+ MILES ON A BALL.
      THE NILE RIVER WOULD HAVE TO FLOW UP HILL BEGINNING SOUTH OF THE EQUATOR,CROSSING OVER THE EQUATOR AND CONTINUE NORTH DESPITE THE ENTENSELY STRONG CENTRIFUGAL FORCE . IMPOSSIBALL!
      ●THE SUPPOSED CURVATURE IS 8 INCHES PER MILE SQUARED. ..
      1) BEDFORD EXPERIMENT PROVES NO CURVATURE.
      2) TORONTO ROGERS CENTRE SEEN FROM GRIMSBY 6FT ABOVE LAKE LEVEL FROM 30.84 MILES AWAY PROVES THERES NO CURVATURE. TOP OF THE ROGERS CENTRE SHOULD BE OVER 200FT BELOW THE SUPPOSED.
      3) CHICAGO IS SEEN FROM MICHIGAN.THIS PROVES THERES NO CURVATURE. OBSERVER IS 6FT TALL. SO 6FT ABOVE LAKE LEVEL.60 MILES AWAY.CHICAGO SHOULD BE 2166FT BELOW THE SUPPOSED CURVATURE.
      4) THE LONGEST CANAL IN THE WORLD IS 100 MILES LONG BUT NOT A SINGLE LOCH WAS USED. NO CURVATURE NO GLOBE!
      5) LONGEST BRIDGE IN THE WORLD IS 102 MILES LONG. SHOULD BE ALMOST 7000 FT OF CURVATURE IN THAT BRIDGE. NO CURVATURE NO GLOBE!
      6) LAKE PONTCHATRAIN BRIDGE IS 24 MILES LONG AND COMPLETELY LEVEL AND BUILT OVER WATER THE ENTIRE 24 MILES. ONLY 2 INCHES LOWER ON ONE SIDE . 2 INCHES IN 24 MILES??? NO CURVATURE NO GLOBE!
      7) EXALT WIRELESS WORKS BY LINE OF SIGHT OVER A DISTANCE OF 146 MILES ACROSS THE MEDITERRANEAN SEA. THE TOWERS ARE NO MORE THAN 50FT HIGH. IMPOSSIBLE ON A GLOBE! PROOF OF FLAT EARTH!
      8) SASKATCHEWAN. .. SALT FLATS OF BOLIVIA. .. KANSAS .... ALL FLAT FOR HUNDREDS OF MILES!
      9) LIGHTHOUSES ARE SEEN FROM IMPOSSIBLE DISTANCES. LIGHTHOUSES WORK BY LINE OF SIGHT!
      10) LASER GUIDANCE SYSTEMS WORK USING LINE OF SIGHT!
      ●SEA (LEVEL). .. AIR (PLANE)... PLANE (T) ..PLANE & LEVEL MEAN FLAT!
      ●THERES ABSOLUTELY NO PROOF OF A GLOBE ROTATING IN SPACE. NOT A SINGLE REAL IMAGE/FOOTAGE. NONE!
      MOON LANDING WAS A HOAX.
      ISS LIVE STREAMS ARE OBVIOUSLY FAKE AND FILMED IN STUDIOS.
      ISS=IN SOME STUDIO.
      HARNESSES, GREEN/BLUE SCREENS, CGI, UNDER WATER , AIR BUBBLES, FLY ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE ISS WINDOW. ETC
      WE LIVE ON A FLAT STATIONARY PLANE WITH A FIRMAMENT ABOVE. THEYVE NEVER BEEN TO SPACE. ITS A CLOSED SYSTEM. WE CANNOT LEAVE THE EARTH. SPACE IS WATER.
      ●"GRAVITY" IS AN UNPROVEN THEORY. IT DOESNT EXIST. ITS A PATHETIC DESPERATE ATTEMPT TO EXPLAIN HOW EVERYTHING STICKS TO A BALL ROTATING AND FLYING THROUGH A "VACUUM OF SPACE".
      ITS REALLY JUST DENSITY AND BOYEUNCY. WEIGHT. UP AND DOWN. LIGHTER THAN AIR AND HEAVIER THAN AIR. JUST MOLECULES INTERACTING WITH EACH OTHER.
      FOR EXAMPLE-THE MOLECULES IN A ROCK ARE MORE DENSE THE MOLECULES IN THE AIR. THEREFORE THE ROCK FALLS THROUGH THE AIR TO THE GROUND. SIMPLE.
      TO ALL YOU TROLLS - (WE DONT LIVE IN A VACUUM CHAMBER.A VACUUM ISNT A NATURAL STATE) WHAT SEPERATES THIS VACUUM FROM EARTH ATMOSPHERE? "GRAVITY" ?? LOL
      ●WERNHER VON BRAUN (NASA MANAGER / ROCKET SCIENTIST) HAS PSALMS 19:1 ENGRAVED ON HIS HEADSTONE.
      PSALMS 19:1 TALKS ABOUT GOD AND THE FIRMAMENT.
      SEARCH-SPRITES PROVE THE FIRMAMENT!
      ROCKETS HAVE HIT THE FIRMAMENT!
      SEARCH-ROCKET SLAMS INTO THE DOME (FIRMAMENT)
      SEARCH-"METEOR" HITTING THE FIRMAMENT.
      ●MOUNTAINS ARE GIANT PETRIFIED TREE STUMPS. DEVILS TOWER FOR EXAMPLE. THE INDIVIDUAL HEXAGONAL COLUMNS ARE PLANT FIBRES!
      ●WITH ALL THAT BEING SAID...
      IVE SEEN THE FLOWER OF LIFE WITH MY OWN 2 EYES.
      THE FLAT STATIONARY PLANE WITH A FIRMAMENT ABOVE IS THE VIRTUAL REALITY WE EXPERIENCE DAY TO DAY. ITS AN ILLUSION. A MATRIX / SIMULATION .. OUR BODIES ARE AVATARS. OUR EYES VIRTUAL REALITY GLASSES. ATOMS ARE 99.999% EMPTY SPACE. ATOMS ARE PIXELS GENERATING / PROJECTING 3D IMAGES IN A 4D REALM. EVERYTHING WE SEE IN OUR DAY TO DAY LIVES. ITS ALL AN ILLUSION!
      TROLLS / SHILLS CAN TAKE A HIKE! LOL

      Ironically, Christianity has a reputation among many as not being open to question. However, my perspective as a (former) public school teacher and a Christian is that we give 'evidence' for evolution in our public schools, then tell the kids that they should believe it. The message: "Think as you are told." I was fired for presenting the creation model. "The kids are impressionable," said the principal. Oh really? Maybe we should teach them how to think!

Thankfully I was a thinker and reason got me out but only after religion had made me so ill, crying on my knees for help that never came, just me and four walls. Life now is great free from religion, free from the mind madness of being watched .still after all these years I have thoughts about hell as this was the fear that caused me to become involved after family preached this threat .good luck to all who are finding freedom from religion it can take time.

    People get hung up on this beginning thing. Two things, there's no reason to believe there was ever nothing. Second, if we consider that in the beginning there was no time space, then cause and effect is not in the picture since it relies on time to be present to have cause before effect. We can easily assume effect without cause.

    • @perrygershin3946

      You have essentially said what I was thinking. If the universe does not exist then the laws that govern the universe also may not exist. Therefore, there may not be any law of physics preventing something coming from nothing. We cannot assume anything about what can happen if the universe does not exist. I also agree with you that we can't know if there ever was a 'nothing'.
      Either time and space had a beginning or it did not. Neither option is really satisfying in leading to a better understanding of our reality. As it often is, the honest answer is 'we don't know'.

It took the form of a mock news report about a 16 year old boy with my exact forename and surname, right down to spelling (and it's not a particularly common conjunction of names), who had been hit by a car and killed. I had to ring around my friends and relatives to assure them I was safe and most definitely not dead, in the event they had seen it too. Yes, it was a remarkably detailed coincidence, at least on the congruent points, but that's the nature of synchronocity: meaningful coincidence, in which the meaning is provided by those experiencing them.

    • @JarlGrimmToys
      @JarlGrimmToys 5 лет назад

      The Skeptic Philosopher god would be the master of confusion. It’s not just slight differences in interpretation. You can have completely opposite interpretations. The bible was used to support slavery in the US, and to support abolition of slavery. Some people use it to support homophobia, and others to reject homophobia.

    • @JarlGrimmToys
      @JarlGrimmToys 5 лет назад

      The Skeptic Philosopher if the bible was actually the divinely inspired word of God. I would expect its meanings to be a bit more clear, read a science book aimed at the layperson and they’re very clear.
      I would expect it to be a bit more timeless and universal. Not apparently written by and for Bronze Age and Iron Age people in the Middle East.
      I would also expect some useful information, instead of things that were already known in the ancient world. Germ Theory was not discovered until the mid 1900’s. God could have mentioned there were tiny creatures that were so small they were invisible, that caused illnesses and infections. Instead the bible says mustard seeds are the smallest things.

    • @michaelbarnes5771
      @michaelbarnes5771 5 лет назад

    • @aaronstypes4083
      @aaronstypes4083 5 лет назад

      Jarl Grimm The reason the Bible is confusing and unclear to you is because you are not reading it with spiritual eyes, because you lack the necessary spiritual apparatus. Once that is gained, it makes perfect sense. I used to be in the same boat as you. Many atheists say they expect this or that from the Bible. But God cares little for what we "expect." What we expect is our problem, not God's.

    About John's call. So I had a really frightening, abusive father. It had conditioned me such that every time I heard that car pull up the driveway, my mind would immediately purge every other thought or less-than-scared feeling I had at the time and only one voice would be screaming at me in my head: run and hide. Every sound he made, every clatter of his cutlery on his plate, every clearing of his throat, every sound of his bathroom faucet turning on or off, every slam of his closet door. Anyway you get the idea. So on the days when my big brother's car would screech to a stop in front of the house, waiting for me, I'd go running. Jump in and we sped off. Just to have a day escaping my father. We'd drive far and find things to do, places to hang out. But I had this insane fear all the time: that somehow, *somehow*, I would see my father around the next bend of the road, expecting me. Waiting for me. Or somehow, he would just find me wherever we had stopped to buy something. Even though he had no real way of tracking us. I'd keep thinking I just now heard his car, or his voice, and reflexively I just hid. It was as real as my conditioned mind made it real.
    And I knew it was extremely unlikely he'd ever find us, if he even bothered to go looking for us in the first place. But when you're so conditioned, your fear overrides all logic. I just couldn't help it, and I knew it. But as much as I felt absolutely positive he would be waiting around the next bend, or the next one, it just never happened.

      @@kimsland999 - Exactly, they'll refer to them as "good god-fearing folk" and god is a "just and loving god". What kind of just god makes people worry about an eternity of hellfire?
      And thank you, although I shouldn't be commended for merely not doing a bad thing. But yes if I had kids I definitely wouldn't want them to be afraid of me. If there was a silver lining from the abuse I got, it was that I told myself since at an early age that my father was an example of what not to be.
      But my father wasn't really a theist, or a religious person much. He was plainly immoral, very stupid -- and frankly too self-absorbed to care. He wore different religions at different times, depending on the mood, like it were a fashion, because all he cared about was "impressing" those around him. He knew hardly anything at all about the beliefs or values in any religion.
      This, combined with the abuse I took from him, as well as receiving abuse from - and witnessing general apathy and arrogance/ignorance of - people who were affiliated with religion, at least made me find their religions extremely unconvincing, both morally and intellectually. Where I lived, there were/are roughly equal parts of Christianity, Hinduism and Islam. So I've seen the different flavours of delusion, arrogance, backwardness, cruelty, stubbornness and overall non-think. I don't say that to be nasty to theists, but it's really what I've observed.

    I'd also like to point out the problem with this time thing that gets used so often. Matt has hit on it before, but its misrepresented too often.
    Our universe has time as a dimension. Time began when the universe began to expand. That does not mean there was not a different "time" before our universe. Example: time began for me when I was born, but time existed before me. If there were say...a multiverse, our space time began when our universe began to expand but that has no bearing on the different times in different universes. Time is not a bubble you just jump into and out of. Depending on the definition used, it is a measurement of continued existence. If there were a god "outside of time" how does he do anything? The act of not causing the universe to begin to then cause the universe to begin existing requires some form of "time". He wasnt causing it and then he was. The idea of anything existing outside of "any" time may be completely incoherent and it's all just speculation without any evidence.

    Professionals in alcohol treatment see AA as complete BS. It's not healthy to go through life seeing yourself as an addict and it's not a good idea to surrender responsibility. See a mental health care professional instead to get to the root of the problem. People usually drink to avoid something and that's what you should focus on. Fix your life and you can regain a healthy relationship with alcohol.

    A little over 20 years ago I started a path of recovery from addiction through a 12 step program I’m not gonna be specific
    about which one it really matter. The main point of trying to bring up is that the 12 step programs while not related to necessarily a specific religion, although some do, most suggest that you find a Higher Power, it shouldn’t be a doorknob or an ashtray, that you should pray to, talk to, attempt to communicate with and to ask for help in your recovery. It is suggested that you do not ask for
    money or anything like that but rather you use the serenity prayer: “grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference. Just for today.” And I was told other things such as there’s no such thing as coincidence and I have to say that for a while it worked but then I realize that basically, I was simply
    using a mild form of self-hypnosis to convince myself in a sort of positive thinking to basically just live for today and not worry about what happened in the past or what might happen in the future.
    Today, and even then, I couldn’t get my mind around the idea that there was no such thing as coincidence because statistically, coincidence is almost required to be “a thing.” It is similar to when I hear all the odds against life happening on earth are a bazillion (a very large unspecified number) to one, no the odds against or for life happening on earth are exactly 100% because life happened on earth and we know it. Life happened were the result of it or at least one of the results of life happening. So if anyone asks you what are the odds that life would happen here will it did, therefore, the odds are a hundred percent. Anything else is pure speculation. Also, we would expect life to be very common in the because life is made up of five or six most common elements in the universe. Life isn’t made up of the heavier elements life is made up of the first five or six the only one I think of those first elements that aren’t part of life is helium.
