Pinning this comment to give a shoutout to those that I had unfortunately missed from this video: Elise Ray, Susan Jackson, Kendall Beck and Jennie Thompson! Check out their vaults as well! Hope that doesn't detract from the video though :) Also not sure how this video suddenly took off but thanks for watching!
What's crazier is that when Chellsie did this vault again in 2021 after something like 16 years, she did it BETTER than the one in this video, when she was "in her prime." Chellsie is an inspiration and I'm so glad she's the technical lead for Team USA.
@@Hervinbalfour She did say on one of her Instagram posts that she might be putting together some routines for the adult competition that her gym is hosting. I also really wanted to see her make a run at Paris, but I think she is exactly what the team needs as a technical lead.
I dont know about anyone else, but my toes curl and I hold my breath everytime I see vaulting before the new table. These ladies are absolute BEASTS for doing their complicated moves on that vaulting "beam"
I never knew Shannon had done this vault. I thought she only did the full-twisting and 1.5 twisting ones. It's nice to see gymnasts who weren't the top names. Thanks to YT, their routines, often not aired on TV at the time, can be seen and appreciated.
Miller had it in 1993 but only did it at Classics. (She was sick and was sticking the yurchenko and scoring near perfect 9.8's so why not) She also re learned it in 1996 with Peggy when Nunno was away but he wouldn't let her compete it because he didn't teach her. Then she broke her wrist so that ended.
Had no idea Shannon trained a double twisting Yurchenko! Of course 1993 would have been in her prime. Vault became an increasingly difficult event for her in the subsequent years.
@@ericgymfan yeah she only ended up getting the skill before the 2000 nationals. Considering she was a pretty weak vaulter most of her career it was very impressive!
in the 1997-2000 quadrennium, there were only a handful of vaults that were worth a 10, but I remember the Amanar and Double Twisting Tsuk were worth a 10 when they were performed in Sydney. There might have been some kind of Rudi that was worth a ten also. Raducan did at least one vault worth a ten but I cannot remember exactly what it was, but it was a tricky vault in the layout position... This was the first quadrennium where they started to dramatically change the vault as an event, making it a lot harder for an all arounder to be a top vaulter at the same time (although not impossible)
@@mikeg8375 The 10.0 vaults that were performed in Sydney were the Amanar, DTT, Lopez & the Handspring Straight Front 1/1. The Rudi was a 10.0 vault too but I don't recall anyone competing it there. Oh, and of course the Produnova!
@Gazmeister_Wongatron ah makes sense! Did Prudnova actually do her vault there? I've only seen her vaults from team finals and she watered down due to injury. Maybe in prelims?
She debuted it in 1987...which is crazy, especially since Golea did it there too, but it was only ever named for Baitova. They weren't even the firsts to it either! Gurova did it in 1986 at the Ahoy Cup, and Shevchenko at the 86 GWG.
I know Tasha Schwikert was training the DTY, not sure she ever competed it? Around the 4min 58sec mark in the following video she trains a few of them! ruclips.net/video/5xwsRDXEEoU/видео.html
This people, as demonstrated in this video, is known as the undoable vault. Even the strongest of landings, second guessed themselves and lost a tenth.

Also Katie Lieberman 2003/4
Mckayla Maroney?

Agreed. But I was also hoping to see what she was capable of moving toward Paris. Kind of disappointed we won't be seeing her compete again.

It's more a side ways pommel's horse lol

This vault became so much easier and safer once the vault table was required.
Still some scary ones, but definitely safer overall.
And to think that others (Soviets) were already doing it in the late 80’s! Mind blowing!
early 80s actually, elena gurova did it in 1984

mohini's dty was amazing for times and is really good even for today
I am from Germany
What do you mean with dty: duty ?
@@meikebohn8424 double twisting yurchenko
She had some
Impressive height
Wasn’t she doing yerchenko double backs back in 97 and again in 2003?
It’s amazing Maloney could do that vault with basically one leg. OUCH
And, with that technique 😮!
Alicia sacramones form is unlike other i have seen.
alicia’s was so clean omg
Jennie Thompson competed it too!
Missed Elise ray in 2000
I knew she did it! I thought she did but when I searched her only Y1.5 came up. My bad!

Considering it was a 9.9 makes me wonder what a 10 vault was at the time

Shawn Johnson didn't do a double? I thought she had a questionable Amanar?
She only upgraded to an Amanar in 2008. Before that, she always competed the DTY.
Svetlana Baitova did this vault in 1988. Stuck the landing second time.

Will do!
Vanessa Atler's at the 1999 US Gymnastics Championships was one of the best ever
I totally agree!

Jennie Thompson 1999
2 girls stuck the landing......TWO!!!! that's pretty sad i think
This was the first time each of these women competed the vault in elite competition. No need to be so hard on them.
Please read the description for more information! Thanks for watching!
I feel like Kendall Beck did one. Never knew Bhardwaj did one.
She did! I'm embarassed haha I couldn't find these videos before uploading of course 😅 Thanks for letting me know
Mohini did it at the olympics

Yeah only a few stuck the landing most took steps back. Not to criticize but they had so much momentum which makes it hard to land.
I didnt see a single stick.
Nice
Wow~ Stadouts for me were Mohini, Terin, and Carly.
Elise Ray from 2000 Susan Jackson 2004
yass
They’re all so tiny 🤧
So tired of this damn vault.
Nice
