The greening pins are a wonderful way to use and preserve the vintage ornaments. I hadn't seen that prior to your video. Also, I really appreciate you attention to detail in you instruction and listing of supplies. Details are helpful, and a lot of times are left out of these kind of how-to videos. Your attention to these details sets your video apart from the rest, in a positive way. Thank you!
I’m so glad you found this video helpful! I try to make videos at the level of detail I would find helpful so it’s so nice to hear others appreciate it as well. Thanks so much for watching. Cheers!!
You are so welcome! I’m still using my wreath. It greets me at the top of the stairs heading into my office. 😊 Thanks for watching and merry Christmas!
Your wreath turned out beautiful. I love the fact that there aren't gaps. You did good. I use cheap garland along with the smaller ornaments to fill in gaps. Who says cheap garland from Dollar Tree isn't so good. It works wonders. You can also double the garland for a fuller look. You can also use other things for fillers. When you work with a styrofoam you can use floral pins, and fill in like that. You can fill in with holly, poinsettia's on their connected stems. I prefer the styrofoam. Hot glue sticks to styrofoam best. It's whatever one prefers. All-in-all, you did good. Absolutely beautiful wreath!!
Such great ideas! Thank you for sharing! I enjoy my wreath so much I’ve been wanting to make another one for a different part of my house. I’ll remember your ideas when it comes time to plan for sure! Thanks so much for your comment! ❤️
Thank you for this great tutorial. I just made a wreath following all of your suggestions and love how it turned out! My only feedback is that the greening pins were not sharp enough to easily go through the velvet ribbon I used so I had to use a tack to start the hole first. It was very time consuming too, but well worth the effort.
Thank you SO MUCH for coming back to share how your experience went! I’m thrilled to hear you are so happy with your wreath. But I also really appreciate getting to hear feedback on what didn’t work so well. Such a great lesson learned! Enjoy your wreath!!
I think it looks perfect just the way it is! ❤❗ I have red and gold ornaments, and I think I will purchase green ornaments to round out my color palette.
Very nice! I want to make each one of my grown children a wreath like this using their ornaments they got for Christmas each year! Thank you for the tutorial ☺️
I've always wanted to make a Christmas ornament wreath and have wondered about the techniques. The greening pins are an ingenious problem solver. Your wreath is beautiful and I'll certainly try to do this holiday season. Thanks!
An excellent video. I saw this at the end of the summer and it inspired me, my new front door was installed 3 days ago and today is the day to make the wreath. Hope it turns out as pretty as yours.
Could you have used some wire on the vintage ornaments and then pinned so they could hang a bit? That way we could see the beautiful designs in the middle of the vintage ornaments? You could hide the wires with the newer, smaller ornaments? Just a thought. Looks great though! 👍
That’s such a great idea! That would probably work. Next time I make a wreath like this, I’ll give that a try. Thanks for much for the feedback and for watching! Happy holidays!!
This is such a great video, even though the tone of your voice is very authoritative. It felt like I was back in the classroom being taught by the headmistress.😊
@@themadeupokie 🤣 On a serious note, I've purchased some baubles online today and I hope to be able to make a wreath just like the one you showed us in your video. Thank you so much, it was very informative and I liked that you didn't rush in order to show us each step along the way. 💞
Your wreath turned out beautifully. Wrapping the wreath form was an excellent idea. I love how you used greening pins to attach your vintage ornaments. It would be a shame to put glue on them directly. TFS!
I’m so glad you appreciated my technique. This was a fun wreath to make and I’ve enjoyed decorating with it so far. Thanks so much for your comment and for watching!!
Great video and absolutely beautiful wreath. I really like all the little suggestions you added to make it easier to do. Very easy to follow. I will try myself this year - maybe in July
How well did the pins hold compared to glue? I made one using glue for my mom, but it hasn't been hung up yet so I do not know how well the ornaments will stay. I am making another one for someone else and want to make it as sturdy as possible.
I’ve had my hung up now for about 18 months (yeah...I never took it down this year 😊) and have only had one fall off, which actually happened not long after I made it. It was one I’d attached with a greening pin and I think it wasn’t in very well. Luckily it fell on carpet and didn’t break so I re-pinned it and it’s been fine since. It’s on a door that gets opened/closed a low-medium amount. I think one factor to consider is whether you want to keep the ornaments in tact. I feel like glue means they can’t be repurposed later for something else. I can’t imagine ever taking mine apart since I love it so much, but I *could* and reuse the vintage ornaments. Hope that helps. I’m sure your family will love their wreaths! ❤️ Happy holidays!
Thank you! The pins are called either greening pins or sometimes floral pins. You can find them at most hobby stores as well as Amazon. Here’s a link to some on Amazon so you have an idea what to look for: amzn.to/2NmPRzj Thanks or watching!!
Yay! Glad you like it! And that’s so funny you mentioned SMG. When I was in high school/college and Buffy the Vampire Slayer was on, I actually heard that comparison all the time. But I hadn’t heard it in years. What a great compliment! Happy holidays!!
Thank you for not putting hot glue on a vintage ornament. The small purple shaded ornaments really add alot of beauty to this wreath.
Thank you for the comment and for watching! Cheers!!

Beautiful wreath! Great way to use those beautiful vintage ornaments that are now very scarce!
Thank you! Once I finished it and put it up, I’ve never taken it down and that’s been several years now! 😊

Those are called floral pins, in case you want to buy some. A search for greening pins gets nothing.
Thanks for sharing! That is good to know! In addition I’ve heard them referred to as fern pins.
I used my glue skillet the second time
Good to know! I think I need to break down and buy one for some of my upcoming craft projects. Happy decorating!!
