    I love how when he says "you consider yourself above your company" she says "me" but she kind of smiles a little to herself I think because she really felt a little different and here comes this handsome dude with sense of humor who is the first person to notice that.... And I think she really LOVED that he said that

    I love how clever they were with this sequence - showing only with step and music changes that they kept dancing after the first one, were so enthralled with each other that they just kept dancing despite "hating each other", and it was confirmed with dialogue only afterwards. Just brilliant filmmaking.

    “Will you give so much to a woman?”
    “It must depend upon the woman,”
    Am I the only one who loves that little bit? It’s probably just to do with the way Mcavoy delivers that little bit, it’s so quick and like. On the beat?
    I need to stop.

      There are three different dances in quick succession--which means they continued their conversation for a long time! I'm not sure (yet) which the first and third dances are, but the second one is definitely Trip to Paris, and as written, as we still dance it today! It's awesome. :)

    • @michelle.pearl.
      @michelle.pearl. 7 лет назад +22

      Fun story, back then they considered those dresses as scandalous as "showing bra straps" and the breeches men wore were similar to what we think of "baggy jeans" in terms of being radically inappropriate.

    • @Mav_F

      Well, I believe that bras werent even invented then. I think it was girdles, corsets and tight fitting dresses and wrapped material that kept those personal items up. lol Bras are a possibility last century (1900s mid-century) invention.

      But don't forget, as a woman you can't get a divorce without being destituted, the marriage law/ domestic violence action against you, can't inherit your father's property, can't choose a job other than a governess or a prostitute, your wellbeing depended entirely or the paterfamilas of the family you were born/ married to, starving yourself on a daily basis and fitting into a corset that jeopardised pregnancy... But yes, manners were important (no sarcasm intended)

Maybe take your people out of under the table cupboard kids. And go to college and get a student wardrobe. It is a twenty inch suitcase. Check air Canada for the size of the suitcase with wheels.
