To be fair, Gunvolt is very, VERY different to MMZ and MMZX. Its system is very different, and for someone who's mostly practiced in MMZ's priority system, GV's gonna be a weird beast to tame.
Considering how gunvolt plays, it'll definitely be awhile before we see anything from you with it. Both because i understand how different gunvolt is compared to Mega, but also because i know that, to get to the level that you have now with the zero series, it'll be awhile.
For me, Gunvolt is a good game and that is it! It kinda hurts the screen being very polluted, but the stages have good gimmicks and the bosses have very good patterns. But for more assiduous MMZ players, it doesn't feel like the "spiritual successor" as people say. Also, if you want to feel playing "Megaman game" without the blue bomber, try Rosenkreuzstillete and its sequel (Freudenstachel), also known as "Megaman + Castlevania + Waifus". That game is legendary for me, it is better than the NES games and also has god tier aesthetics and OK characters/story.
Yeah that sums up my experience too. The Gunvolt games fit into the same sub-genre of platformer as the Zero/ZX games, but it's like saying that Crash Bandicoot is the spiritual successor to Mario. They're different enough to be considered their own thing, and the Gunvolt games fail to scratch the Zero/ZX itch for me despite being wholly enjoyable experiences of their own.
@@Crow_Rising agree with you both, it was an OK game, but not really the same style as either MMX or MMZ not very memorable, like I am not even sure how many of the there are by now but I've beaten at least 2, and only know that there's a magic singing girl and an evil corporation
Yeah, I've definitely made a single comment asking if there was any interest in Gunvolt (specifically Copen related), not knowing if it was ever addressed due to my relative newness. I hear you loud and clear though, my guy.
I would say the character Gunvolt himself wouldn't be your gameplay style, but Copen, a playable character in Gunvolt 2 (that's kinda has X4 onwards' select a character style) is made made for fast paced movement and messing around with his weapons would be amazing for your showcase talents. That's why I like his spinoff games, Luminous Avenger, more than the main Gunvolt games because it has X-style mobility.
I was one of the people who asked this question at some point in the past. Back when I was new to the channel myself. The general problem with Gunvolt is GV doesn't have an arsenal as varied as X and Zero do. Copen from the 2nd game and then what's her face the main heroine of the 3rd game do but GV not so much. This makes the concept of "tech" videos a little weird for the series. But at the same time it does share a lot in common with the MMZ series and Inti Creates, the same folk who worked on those games, made Gunvolt so you know it's gonna be quality. I try to support Inti anyway I can. I really do love their games.
My problem with Gunvolt is that the style of combat works really, REALLY well for bosses, but seems wasted on regular enemies, I'd rather just cut the cannon fodder in half with a sword....like in the Zero series. I only played the first game, though, so my credibility isn't high.
While I do like the Gunvolt series, I'd hardly consider myself a diehard fan of the games. They don't scratch that Zero/ZX itch for me, and I have more fun replaying the Zero/ZX games than I do the Gunvolt games. That being said though, I do think they're good games. I even liked iX 2, which is a bit more of a controversial opinion. The simple fact of the matter is that although the Gunvolt series is also made by Inti-Creates and features Zero/ZX elements in it, they simply aren't Mega Man games in either story or gameplay. It is very much it's own franchise that fits into the same subgenre of platformer without being an outright clone. If you're looking for Zero 5 or ZX 3, you're not finding it among the Gunvolt titles.
Hey! You're the person who made all those helpful guides and reviews! Thank you for that btw :) Honestly, when i played the first LAIX game, it really scratched the Zero ich for me, the music, the style, the adrenaline it's all there, it felt like Zero was back and was a blast to play, LAIX2 feels more like ZX3 with the aesthetic and music and was also really good, i think all Megaman Zero fans should try these games, the first LAIX specially. I see you didn't mention Dragon Marked for Death! Have you tried it? I think gameplay wise it completely scratches the Zero ich due to the melee combat focus with sometimes complicated inputs you gotta learn, sure the asthetic couldnt be further from Zero but the gameplay feels fantastic and you can definitely be very stylish with it.

@@Crow_Rising Oh alright, thanks for replying! For me the core things im looking for are a good combat system and bosses, anything else doesn't really impact the experience negatively much. All required gear can be obtained always in 1-3 runs of the missions. I really enjoyed Gunvolt and was actually about to ask you this question lol. It's not as Stylish as the Zero games, but the Luminous Avenger games scratched the Zero ich for me, it might play differently, but the attitude, the music, the drama, it all feels like Zero is back and made me very happy. One thing that generally keeps increasing is the Boss quality! So look forward to that! However i want to make you aware of another game from Inti.Creates that completely scratched the Zero ich and it's my favourite outside of the Zero games, and that is Dragon Marked for Death! It's melee combat focused again, but you got multiple characters and can be played online co-op!! It really feels like Megaman Zero online, the bosses are great and you got a lot of tech and complicated inputs to master, the trailer on steam is 6 minutes long but you will definitely know if it's for you by the end, really good trailer, highly highly recommend you look into it :) Also thank you for your videos they made me be able to enjoy and learn the Zero games more! :)
Gunvolt plays very differently from Zero. Just, everyone, keep that in mind. I doubt he'll DISlike it, but it's not typically the kind of stuff he puts on the channel. Zero is very aggressive and filled with active engagement. What are the Gunvolt bosses? Tag them and hold a button while dodging. I love the games. I'm not criticizing them. I LOVE the games. But you have to admit that at their core, the Gunvolt titles are more passive than Zero is. Flashiness in Gunvolt is just showing off creative ways to dodge boss patterns, compared to Zero's flashiness being about hyper-aggressive and tactical combos. Gunvolt's higher-skill play isn't as fun to make or show off.
But GunVolt doesn't have Smoking Sexy Style combos. I'd even rather see Magnus Zero play Valdis Story or something with at least more options (the ideal is more technicality).

Gunvolt's a lot of fun, but it also doesnt have much in terms of optimization potential in the way the Zero/ZX has, it's more about resource management and not making mistakes than it is about pinpoint offense. That said, I think Copen's gameplay style might be a better fit, there's more offensive variety and optimization potential there that you might like.
I played GV and the GV campaign of 2, little bit of Copen I think? Maybe I beat his campaign?... they're...fine. Didn't hugely love them, didn't hate them, do dislike the autorevive with infinite energy thing though, as well as felt like things including the protagonists were a bit big on the screen. And with the slower pace from Zero, plus the supers you get, it's kind of like they made Megaman X games, I thought. I know GV3 happened but I hadn't the notion to look further.
