I saw Holy Wars, Plush and The Warning last year. Kat has a ton of energy on stage. I found them to be quite entertaining and did a great job at "warming up the crowd". In my opinion, you are going to love The Warning even more once you see them live! Lalo, their sound engineer, always brings out the perfect sound. I am always impressed by the sound that Pau gets out of her drum kit!

As others have already commented, Holy Wars opened for The Warning on several dates of last year's Error World Tour. I thought that they were outstanding!
I saw them at the Regent Theater in Los Angeles on May 2nd, and I was blessed and fortunate to have the opportunity to speak for several minutes with both Kat Leon (frontwoman) and Johnny (touring drummer) after their set.
An unforgettable memorable moment was when I told Kat that she is a phenomenal performer, and she actually teared up and gave me a long tight hug in appreciation and thanks. Luckily, my daughter who was standing close by caught the unexpected and unbelievably-touching moment with her phone camera. It's a picture that I will cherish forever.
Being a professional performing/recording drummer for the entirety of my adult life, of course I relished the opportunity to talk all things drums with Johnny. He is very approachable, humble and kind. Thankfully, my daughter got pictures of our interaction as well.
I'll be seeing The Warning in Los Angeles again this coming October 9th, but that looks like the only US tour date for which Holy Wars ISN'T the opening band. I'll admit that I'm really disappointed. A band named "Wilt" is the opener.
Take care, God bless and have a great day! 🤘

@@ThePentagenarian, I forgot to mention that Holy Wars has several incredible, high-production music videos in which Kat phenomenally acts out several characters. She has an extensive theater background and it shows. To me, the following video is one of the best, and it highlights Kat's ability to seemingly easily and effortlessly take on several character personalities. I can't recommend strongly enough that you watch it. I think that you'll absolutely love it! The song itself is amazing, amusing and great as well. Thanks, brother!

@@SDsailor7, since Plush is blowing up in popularity and gaining credibility with and opening for major legendary bands (Disturbed) like The Warning, I think they're pretty much above the level of opening for them. I think it would actually be insulting to them for The Warning to ask them to open, and I don't think that The Warning would even consider doing so at this point. They're fully aware of what's happening for Plush.
And I believe that more of the US public actually knows who Plush is more than they do The Warning. I also believe that, in the next year or two, The Warning and Plush will be THE top two, well known and extremely successful female bands.

Holy crap! I saw that tour, and yet I said in an earlier comment that I had never heard of Holy Wars. They left quite an impression. Lol. Now that I am thinking back, they were a three piece with no bass player. Drummer, guitarist and singer. Their bass was 100% tracked. The singer was foul mouthed and kept grabbing her crotch through the entire set, when she wasn’t gasping for air (the altitude was not kind). Normally I am not a prude about language and such, but there was a group of very young TW fans on the rail . She did a horrible job of reading the room.

  • @thsc9119
    @thsc9119 5 месяцев назад +15

TW songs also on the short side. Three to four minutes or occasionally less. A nod to radio play, maybe. I'm a fan and it don't bother me. At least they don't bore me with seemingly endless guitar or drum solos. They are what they are and are not trying to be Cream, Led Zeppelin, or Rush. It'll be interesting to see if this band can reproduce their video sound live anywhere nearly as well as TW does.
You mentioned their wardrobe for the video. Cool. But one thing s lot of fans love about them is that they show up and play as their everyday selves wearing whatever they pulled out of the closet or suitcase in the morning. They aren't trying to be Kiss or Taylor Swift. Just three regular girls who can rock like there's no tomorrow. Nuthin' fancy wardrobe wise would improve them. Dressing up for awards or video production is understandable and expected.

    • @ThePentagenarian
      @ThePentagenarian  5 месяцев назад +4

      LOL, re: wardrobe.
Those are costumes. Anyone who thought they would play in those has never been to a live show and 2) has no clue who The Warning are. I mentioned it because it looked fascist and was fairly appropriate for the video.

Holy Wars was pretty good when I saw them in Denver opening for TW.
They are very industrial. Kat, the lead singer, is an absolute dynamo onstage.
She ended up in the audience twice during their set, once on purpose and once was an oopsie.
As you mentioned, they only have 2 main members but they did have a drummer with them and they shared a drum kit with Plush. No bass player so that’s tracked. Drummer was controlling click with a MIDI pad.

I am not so sure it was an oopsie the first time she came down off the stage. But it sure took me by surprise! I was directly in front of her. Later on, watching fan videos from two different angles, it appeared as if I was calmly helping her down off the stage. That's sure not how it felt at the time!! It was terrifying! lol She was standing up on the rail, toe-to-toe with me if we'd been standing on the same level. When she came forward (intentionally, I believe), I started to lose my balance, feeling pushed backwards. I instinctively grabbed on to her to steady myself and to try to keep her from falling off the stage, because at the time, I thought that she had lost her balance. Then, once safely on the floor, she went around me, and started a mosh!! Later, again from the rail on the front of the stage, she grabbed the tallest guy in front by the shoulders, a dude named Todd, and turned him around and climbed on his shoulders. Then she "danced" him around while covering his eyes with her hands! So, if you're going and you're a tall guy, be aware!! And this all happened at the Marquis Theater [they have pizza!], so shoutout to the Marquis Theater.

@@iNsTaNtpUdDiNhEaD you obviously had a much more “in the action” experience than I did.
I was over on Ale’s side of the stage almost right next to the wall of the venue directly in front of the floor PA cabinet.
I felt the show more than I heard it 😝
I had a bit of a hard time seeing over to Dany’s side of the stage so I may have missed exactly what was going on there.
I can imagine you being surprised because everyone around me was surprised when that happened.

@@iNsTaNtpUdDiNhEaD I am Todd and was at the center of the action and was somewhat taken by surprise when the action began. One of the other fans told me that this might happen since I was directly in the center of the stage and a taller fellow, all of a sudden here we go, I was afraid of tripping over a kid that was standing near me, any way our center of gravity was changing violently as she moved her arms side to side and I was trying to keep us upright. It all ended up turning out ok in the end and it was a fun time. I do have tickets to 2 shows in Sept. will history repeat itself?

We saw The Warning in Charlotte NC last May, Plush and Holy Wars opened for them and it was a killer show. We're going to see TW in Nashville TN on September 28th at The Basement East, Holy Wars is opening for them. I was surprised that The Warning is playing there at this point in their career. It's a small venue, (575 max capacity) and we were lucky to get tickets because the show sold out in a couple of hours. We bought VIP meet-and-greet tickets literally the minute they went on sale. Don't get me wrong The Basement East in Nashville is a great venue with good acoustics and an excellent house sound system, some great bands have played there. I've seen several bands there and I'm pumped to see TW in such an intimate setting. I would love to see Freeze The Fall opening for The Warning, it would be a hell of a show. FTF recently signed a distribution deal with 604Records for their "Thrones" EP so it looks like good things are happening for them as well.

Same in Detroit - 1100 seat hall. Then I started to wonder... There were some bands that used to do small gig tours before a tour that had larger venues as a kind of on the road practice session.
They could also be using it as a litmus test to see how long it takes for shows to get sold out. Last thing you want to do at this stage of their career is to overbook.
Consider also that I just went and saw Judas Priest at an "arena" that had a seating capacity of 6,100. .l saw them years ago that two arenas that had around 18,000 seats.
I'd rather see them played to a packed house than play at a venue with 1000 empty seats!

I really like this song by Holy Wars. I searched their live vids, *they are very good musicians* who can rock large venues. What they do in the studio, they do live!. Good choice by The Warning.
I'm not sure what the fascination is with Freeze The Fall. They can barely play their instruments and are level two garage band performance at best. Nowhere close to being ready to tour as a support band. I wish them luck, hope they stick with it, they certainly show promise.

I may be an outlier here, but I saw Holy Wars open for The Warning and I was thoroughly unimpressed. They had 5 musicians on stage and used ten times as many Backing tracks as The Warning. They had a keyboard on stage and only used it once, even though almost every track had keyboards in it. They did have good crowd interaction and put on a good show. I saw them open, then The Warning, then Halestorm. But, They seemed to have more fans present than The Warning did. But, with Halestorm as the headliner, the place (The Eastern, in Atlanta) held 2500, but was little over half full. So, maybe the Rock genre just has a bad following in Atlanta. I wish The Warning had Plush opening again, like they did last year in Atlanta! Plush is much more impressive IMHO. And maybe Holy Wars music is not my cup of tea.
For some reason, The Warning don't have the popularity here in Atlanta that they do in other parts of the US. In fact, The Warning played a Venue called Hell at The Masquerade in 2022, that holds 500 max. In 2023 they played they played The Buckhead Theater that holds 1100, with Plush, and it was little more than half full. So, this year they are coming back and playing Hell again. I don't know why The Warning has less popularity here. Maybe because all the rock stations are gone now except one, that has gone back to an 80s, early 90s format and never plays new bands. Just sad for one of the largest metro areas in the country.
Also, even though The Warning are playing small venues in the US, they don't seem to be doing Meet & Greets, or at least they aren't selling M&G tickets upfront. Have others run into this? I am disappointed I cannot do a M&G.

Atlanta radio sucks. The M&G sold out fast, but last time I checked GA was still available, which is sad.

If there is no Rock culture in a city, it is rather difficult to have your breakout moments. I am hoping that they're exposure at the VMAs breaks the deadlock in those cities in that you will see larger crowds. We must also remember that there are several months between now and when they start their US tour.
I have seen several people comment that they are surprised to see a tour with small venues on it due to their surge in popularity. Let us consider that everything they do at this point is being done with surgical precision. This would explain a small venue tour. They are feeling the waters before booking with large venues. If they sell out in Los Angeles in one day, they will know that they book a larger venue next time around, it will fill it or come close. If it takes 5 months to sell out Atlanta, or they don't sell out at all, I would say able to reduce the likelihood of them booking a larger venue.
Watching and analyzing their rise, they're very cognizant of what they're doing. This is why I believe this is a strategic test before they go bigger.
      Just my two cents.

@@ThePentagenarian at least when it comes to the Atlanta venue, the site has a location twice the size of what they are booked for(Called Heaven). I figure, if it sells out, then they'll move them there.

    Never heard of Holy Wars.
Edit: After watching this video, they are a pass from me. I am not a fan of the “current” direction of rock bands. To be fair to the current scene, I began to lose interest in rock with the hair metal era, and grunge killed it off for me. The reason The Warning won me over was because their roots were not in a specific sub genre. Their new album may be a pass for me, but I know the next one will be different so I have something to look forward to.

The Warning is The Warning. Pretty sure they write songs because they enjoy writing songs and they write good songs. I feel this kind of unfair to label them as commercial or pop just because they don't meet your definition of what is "hard enough" to not be pop, etc.
Kind of like a deathcore fan saying that Metallica isn't hard enough to be metal...
      Am I making sense?

Its a process that many iconic bands go through in some point, they will return to their metal roots

@@ThePentagenarian I have KMF on pre-order, and own all their other CDs. They evolve with each release, just as a lot of other bands have. I don't hear pop so much as I hear a new genre. They are chameleons of style. Just listen to all three released CDs in order and you'll hear a very wide variety of styles.
