I love using playing cards, it's how I started reading and connecting with my intuition and abilities in helping other find clarity and console. Bicycle decks are great quality and so many wonderful decks available nowadays. I have the cartomancer poker deck too. It is divine! Thank you for sharing your collection with us.
Thanks Simon! I’m just dipping my toe into cartomancy and thus video is great ! ( viewed Aug 2023). I Bought ‘key to the kingdom ‘ deck from e bay.. made a bid on impulse which amazingly won… and it started me on this track. One of my grandchildren introduced me to Bicycke’ cards a few years ago when they went mad on card tricks and I love them!
I find when I read with playing cards, I fall back into familiar habits. I just read them like a cheap man's tarot (or shall we say covert/incognito tarot, unrecognizable to judgemental eyes. Playing cards can be found cheaper and easier than tarot at any drug store or gas station notions counter). I translate the cards in my head to the imagery from the RWS (which one can only do if one has an extensive familiarity with those images). It would probably be simpler for me to learn the ace to 10 by the numbers and elements, but we gravitate to what's easiest for each of us...'old dogs, new tricks, etc.'). Sometimes I will add a second layer of meaning from the TdM on top of my RWS interpretations. And sometimes I'll take an open reading visual approach as well. On the US Games deck, I agree with you, they should have included the playing card symbols instead, or in addition to the tarot symbols.
And it’s whatever works isn’t it? If we are comfortable using our underpinning knowledge of the RWS then I think that’s great too. Mines a mish mash of everything. 😍
I know what you mean as being mesmass and I kind of like it that way. To me it is very interesting to. Read like playing cards , then TDM, Lenormand, even a little RWS.Then compare and see which one was easier to get my answer. I have found me personally Leanormand is most accurate faster and way more in debt.
I am learning more about playing card divination and enjoying it. I love the vintage feel I get from it, knowing that playing cards have been used for many years when it comes to divining. I recently backed three Kickstarter playing card decks: Shadows of London by Marianne Larsen, Capsize Playing Cards by Circe's game and Cartomancer Duality (both the Clarity & Shadow decks) by Alain Benoit. The Rider-Waite Playing Card deck will make it's way to me eventually as I ordered from Book Depository and it came take sometime to get to me here in Canada. I am excited to add all of these to my collection and dive deeper into working with playing cards. I also love The Playing Card Oracles deck and book by Ana Cortez, although I feel this art takes on a meaning of it's own (for those that don't know, Ana's late father is the artist of the art within this deck), and therefore I tend to use this this particular deck for more personal work. 💜 I, too, love the quality of Bicycle playing cards and I own the Stargazer deck. It's beautiful and I am in love with the design and colour of the backs of those cards. Thank you for sharing your playing card collection and some of your thoughts and insights with us. 💜 Much love! 💜-Ang
Great video, Simon! Thank you for reminding me of the Cartomancer Deck! I had completely forgotten that I had it, and it is now out in the open, ready to be used 🙏🙏🙏
Great collection and video. One of my first tarot decks was Illumimated Playing Cards by Caitlyn Keegan. The images on those do great for intuition and you get a moon and sun version. With the two decks given I can clarify with one deck or use each deck for a different person. It's become a favorite. I'm really interested in the Open Potrals deck too.
@@the_hermits_cave the pip men deck is a more modern version of what you displayed. I got mine on Amazon and there are three different decks. They have pictures that tell a story on each card. This company makes three decks. They are cool😁
I have so enjoyed this, Simon! This year I’m all about cartomanic decks & I don’t see them going anywhere 🥰! While I don’t read much with playing cards myself, I love them and use the playing card insets in my other decks, e.g. lenormand. The Cartomancer deck is so special & so beautiful! First time I’ve seen it! Thank you for sharing!
Great video Simon! Im SO glad you got the deck you wanted! My mom used to say "Good things come to those who wait", and as much as I hated hearing it at the time, Im finding she was right.Turns out Im not the most patient person, so its a constant lesson lol ; ) This reminded me that in the LWB for the 007 deck, they suggest removing the numbered Majors and the Knights in order to use it as a playing card deck PS I love the Cartomancy Poker Deck too : )
Mine said that all of the time too! 😝 and yes she was right! Mother’s know best I guess. Patience is something I constantly battle with tbc. The Cartomancer Poker Deck is wonderful. Can’t recommend it enough. Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
At some point I'll get the Bicycle deck with the Angelarium artwork :) I have a lovely playing card deck from a friend, but I mostly just use it for yes/no questions at this point. Great decks you have there!
The Bicycle Aviary deck by Nicholas Matej is my newest purchase. I got it for $4 at Walmart lol. But the colours and the back design are so pretty. Really fits my divination aesthetic. I'm just getting into cartomancy (besides standard tarot) and I never knew there were so many options.
I just spent a long time trying to find that Cartomancer Poker deck, so I'll have to hope that at some point I can find a used one; but I did order the U.S. Games Rider Waite one which should arrive in a little over a week. Thanks Simon as always to helping me part with some dollars because of another of your great deck reviews! Namaste! 💕💜🌹🙏🌹💜💕

Oh yes I remember you saying, have you seen the shadow version?
@@the_hermits_cave I have indeed. Just missed the kickstarter by jus t a few days lol. Alain told me it'll be available in his shop in November

Fascinating to watch 🙏🏻

I love my skinny plastic "Air Deck'.

Oooh thanks love anything to do with playing cards and divination❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤the pip men deck you should take a look at. I use it for divination as well.
Ooooh not heard of that deck!

It really is beautiful. I can’t imagine not having it now. Thank you for watching lovely 😊
'the Ace of Spades, the Ace of Spades'... 😉
I can't avoid looking at each solitaire game in a cartomantic way lol... Loads of really cool reads!
Maybe they can show us how to win the game 😉
In our lingo it's called Patience... Less of a popular virtue these days, i believe 😌

Thanks for this video. I’ve just started with classic RWS but I’m also interested in other forms of card divination.
You’re welcome ☺️
Cool decks, Simon! I really like the RWS one. Thanks for sharing!
I think it is so well done 😍

Thanks for doing this! I bought a standard Bycicle deck, and will buy that book at some point.
It’s all you need to get going 😍
This was a fun one. I still don’t have any cool playing card decks, but I think that new RWS one is likely to be my first. ☺️
I can highly recommend The Catomancer Poker Deck, it reads SO well 😍
