  • I made this video to show my service advisor the issue. It ended up needing the door module replaced.

Thank you for sharing this. We've had this issue since receiving the van ten months ago, and it just completely died back in Nov. Last month I was traveling and able to get it into a dealership, who took it on four dates in two weeks, and still left with the problem (although the new fuse helped the door work sometimes). In any case, I think you nailed the issue entirely.
Only Q is did you ever have an issue where the door would open partially close then force itself back open again?

We've had an issue with it stopping and it then reopening when trying to close on our inclined driveway. I think the added resistance of closing uphill makes it think it's hitting something. It usually only happens when starting the van at the same time it's closing. Probably a combined voltage draw. It doesn't happen on flat ground.

@@FirehouseWoodandFab good to know. we've seen some of the same issues increase on even the slightest incline, however, it also happens at times on the flat ground--which may still be the Door Module being an issue since we've only been able to address the other two items you mentioned. All of this makes sense, because we've had the issue since taking delivery almost a year ago and we have a very big incline on our driveway. Oddly, it's happening even though I always park in backwards which would give the closing door the advantage of moving downhill. I guess we'll find out. either way, I appreciate your insights!

New door control module, motor and belt. Total repair was about $3500 covered by warranty.

Why do I still need to pay during the warranty period?@@FirehouseWoodandFab

@@txws2525You shouldn't. Mine was covered by my Mercedes extended warranty, but it only covers what the original did.

It was fixed with a new door control module. It took service multiple visits to diagnose the issue. This video was actually made for them because they kept saying that they couldn't replicate the problem.
