That was a great trip. The time of day really added a lot to this ride. Rides through small towns and what seems to be in backyards are great. Add in a little snow and away we go.
Fantastic landscape ,so relaxing and enjoyable, love the info from track ,each time we learn something new, thank you for sharing and keep up this amaizing work.
A bit unsettling mood given the patches of open sky here-and-there plus the low cloud cover, but calming at the same time with recent snow still on the tree branches and a lower level of daylight. Coming into the destination, that is the first time I can remember having to run around another train IN the station in order to make the platform. Unusual. Thanks for posting, lorirocks, the half-hour needed for this enjoyable trip flew by in no time.
What a great journey and what great videography too! Regarding the comments about the tunnel repairs and how the cost of it might have closed the line.... as a Brit I greatly admire the Swiss because they seem to have an inherent understanding that maintaining a universally accessible travel and services infrastructure is an essential foundation for coherent nationhood. Looking at such services in purely financial terms is a foolish mistake - one that we in Britain seem to make over and over again to the detriment of our national "togetherness" and thus our national identity.
That was awesome! Always interesting to see a journey in the other direction, and the conditions here were quite magical, particularly in the virgin snow on the other side of the tunnel.
Beautiful scenery, well recorded. It's always a pleasure to see the very well maintained Swiss railroad system, especially compared to the rundown appearance of roads we see in so many videos in other places.
Where we live we see rain a few days of the year. We never see snow here. If we want to enjoy snow, we have to go to the mountains. Since my vehicle is not capable of driving in snowy conditions, we never go there. Therefore when I learn that you have a video featuring snow, I jump on it immediately. I love the cab ride in the snow, and just like I have enjoyed all other rides in the snow, I have equally and thoroughly enjoyed this video. Thank you for all your lovely videos. God bless you and may He give you the strength to provide us with these lovely videos.
Thanks for your nice comment! Glad you enjoy the snow videos. Unfortunately snow has been getting rare in the lower lying regions, but when it does snow, it's great to capture a line in that condition.
I am enjoyed by this beautifull journey on this train through on icefield areas. It is a beautifull with different of experience to me also. Thankyou for your this good efforts and thanks to the greate Switzerland.
That was a great ride and scenery. I was glad to read that the long tunnel will be saved and funds will keep it going for 25 years. You have a great rail system, unlike what we have in the USA. I realize that we are a much larger country, but it is a shame that we have to fight for continued passenger rail service, and having to negotiate with the freight railroads for trackage rights for Amtrak. We rode the RHB for a week in 2018, and that is a beautiful rail system as well. Thanks again for the wonderful video. Dave
A beautiful country to see by rail. ❤️ I keep telling myself I have to visit Switzerland before I depart this world. But, that's unlikely. 😞 By the way, it looks lonely in that beautiful winter wonderland...but, I wouldn't mind living in a place like Switzerland. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Hello, I think your cab rides are really great. I have a question because I don't know where else to ask it. May I react to one or the other ride and publish it on my RUclips channel? Many Thanks.
Hi, thanks. If you mean uploading my entire video with you speaking about it, then no. There's too much work involved to just "give them away" like that. Thanks for asking though.
Good stuff. It surprises me that in a sophisticated country like Switzerland passengers are allowed to walk over tracks to reach a narrow platform squashed between the tracks! A UK safety officer would have a coronary...
It's something I appreciate, that the public here is trusted to a higher degree - not to bash on other countries. There is a rule to those stations though, usually you're only allowed to go to the narrow platform once the train has arrived. Stations like that are relics from simpler times, when you could open and close train doors at any speed without hinderance and when locomotives were still pulling regional services. Back then all trains were accompanied by staff, who made sure things were safe. When these stations are renewed, they are naturally built to safer standards.
Eternally grateful that Switzerland didn't have its own Beeching Report ? Oh yes ! And human-scale elegant rural halts and stations that don't look like they're part of an intimidatory 1984 Big-brother prison complex ! How do these Europeans do it ? What thought processes do we in the UK lack ?
@@lorirocks777Considering that the road between Gänsbrunnen and Oberdorf does not look like a road I would drive a bus on, and the next closest rail connection is via Biel and Sonceboz-Somebval, it makes sense to refresh the tunnel even if it may not make economic sense.
on some of these videos I noticed that there a lot of single track railways. is there a reason for this? eg not enough traffic, and how do they cope with trains needing to go in the opposite direction thanks PS I play these at double speed, they are strangely relaxing with the scenery.
Just not enough traffic; seems to be a once-hourly train. The Swiss schedule trains to pass at stations, and occasionally by using sidings. The Swiss are probably the best in the world at this level of coordination as most mass transit is integrated into one timetable there.
Not so much anymore.. My main interest was older locomotives, some of my favourites being the Ae 6/6 & the BLS Re 4/4. The former have disappeared and the latter are also on their way out. Gone are the days of me carrying a tripod with me everywhere I go. There still is a passion for railways though - but also for a lot more.

I’m 17 and I haven’t been to Switzerland since I was 7. Switzerland is so majestic and I can’t wait to visit it again!
The place is good for holiday beautiful girl
Wow, 100 km/h in dark tunnel) Yet the ride is great
Thanks, I enjoy hearing the train "talking" to the passengers and drivers.

Why is the ground and trees snowless at 7:05? What kind of odd snowfall is that?
Probably hit by the sun a day earlier.

Likely a red kite

What's the alternative if the tunnel wasn't restored - bus service replacing the line? That usually pushes people who ride trains into cars.
Yes, or the same service terminating at each end of the tunnel - although Moutier - Gänsbrunnen probably wouldn't be that feesible.

150 million Swiss francs is a lot of money to keep that one tunnel open.
Yes, but what would be the cost of any alternative to the community, and think of the awkwardness being imposed on people.
