Are you currently enlisted in the Navy or Marine Corps or have prior enlisted service and interested in becoming a Navy Nurse Corps Officer? If your answer is yes, then this video is for you. There are opportunities such as the Medical Enlisted Commissioning Program (MECP) and the Nurse Candidate Program (NCP) that can help you realize your dream of becoming a Nurse Corps Officer. In this video I talk more about the MECP program. If you are interested in the NCP, please check out my video called "Putting Together a Package for the NCP."
Thank you for watching! Hope you are staying safe, healthy, and happy!

Thanks for posting!! I hope you continue posting more videos like this because you’re helping out a lot more people than you think! and you should do a video about life in Okinawa, like a vlog hehe
That’s a good idea! I’ll try to post more about life in Okinawa 😊
I’m prior corpsman . I’m a nurse now . I also have 70% disability … if I rejoin the navy , I would have to waive my disability . When I get out again, do you think I can get it back ?
Hi Christy, I have no idea. The VA specialists would be better people to talk to about this matter.
This came into my feed a year late. Current VA RN and enlisted Infantry Marine 88-92. When you get out continue your time with our VA. Before I hurt my back I considered going into the Nurse Corp. for me it was going to be a direct commission but life throws hand grenades when you least expect them… now a Case Manager. To add I was on the IKE out of Norfolk VA for 2 years.
Thank you for sharing this post. This is inspiring. I’m going to be stationed in Japan while in the Navy and I’m already thinking ahead to when I want to join the MECP Program. I wish you were my mentor because this is very Inspiring! Thank you. I’m ready for the challenge
Thank you! It’s great you are already thinking ahead to applying to MECP. Make sure you keep up with the latest MECP requirements/instruction and start working on what you need to apply.
@@itsestelarojas4713 how is it living in Japan? Any pros and cons?
@@ryanhazzard1845 It has been an awesome experience living in Japan. Definitely pros and cons… I can make a video on the pros and cons!
@@itsestelarojas4713 oh yes please do.
Thank you!!
Do you ever have to go back out to sea after going commissioned?
You can, I wouldn’t say you have to though.
So anything over 42, you cant apply?
I would say talk to a medical officer recruiter and see if you can get a waiver for your age.
@@itsestelarojas4713 thanks!!
So proud of you. :)
Hello! Long time no see! And thank you!!!!
Did you choose to go to Okinawa? Are you attached to a ship? Are there sea shore rotations?
Yes, I chose to go to Okinawa. Was not attached to a ship, was working in the hospital. There aren’t sea shore rotations for nurses.
@@itsestelarojas4713 that's amazing that's great news thank you!!
Thank you for all you do for your patients and for your service! The military really leads development in patient simulation and patient safety efforts in SO MANY ways. #SimTribe
What’s the percentage or likelihood that you get ship orders vs hospital/clinic orders?
Very low. Getting on a ship is difficult to do as a nurse. It helps if you are a critical care nurse though.
Hi, I was wondering, if I were to become a navy nurse as soon as I graduate with a BSN, without any prior nursing experience, would I go through a nurse residency program through the Navy?
Yes, you will.
I would like to asked do you need to be an nclex passer to join navy corps? Or it would e better if u were an nclex passer. Im a graduate of bsn and would like to join the navy corps. Thank you
You need to have passed your nclex to be a Navy nurse.
Thank you for replying. It's really a big help. One last thing. Can I apply in the navy as a corpsman with bsn degree then while duty take the nclex? Or better passed the nclex first? God bless dear.
@@charlottelimbag2084 If you want to be a nurse, pass the nclex first, then join as a nurse. If you join as a Corpsman, will have to fulfill your duty contract (usually 4-5 years) as a Corpsman first.
