TRAINING FLIGHT OF GYROCOPTER ARGON 915 i SERIES

  • A takeoff has been performed from small, one-way private airfield, located in northwest of Bohemia, WP AIRPARK Bitozeves (LKBITO).
    This airfield is located in the middle of distance between Raná and Žatec airport (LKRA, LKZD).
    After takeoff the gyrocopter continued for training approaches to LKRA and Charvatce airfield (LKCHAR), and continued above Louny city.
    Arrival was performed directly to RWY10 LKBITO.

    Very good video. As a fixed-wing pilot with a few hours in a standard helicopter, watching the controls and hearing the engine during takeoff and landing in this video gave me a "feel" for what is going on. It's not entirely different. I thought there would be more flare on landing. It seems like nearly all altitude adjustments are by controlling power, which mostly is true in fixed-wing. I found this very informative. Also, I expected a lot more vibration but it looked reasonable. Great scenery, by the way! Beautiful countryside! Thanks for posting this!

    The smoothest feedback vibration on the sticks I have seen so far.
    I wonder if all Argon flies this way or special prop and rotor balancing is done and what method?

      Dear Agus, thank you for your comment and great New year.
      Yes, you're right, all Argons are properly balanced due to dynamic balancer. Good result comes if you are balancing not only rotor, but propeller as well.
      WP aero comes soon with balancing through Dynavibe balancer.

    What length of airstrip does it need to land…? And also how long does it take to take off…?

      Hello Luis, this airstrip has totally 320 meters lenght. For T/O is used approximatelly about first 120 meters, because RWY comes down. In opposite direction for landing there is only about 20 meters needed.
