Just let them go nuts and then when they’re over populated, just feed the extras to your other fish. 🤷♀️ it’s the best way to handle it and it’s a good treat for your other fish
I was hoping the cherry shrimp were for the nano tanks. You should start stocking them soon too, but there aren’t a lot of options. For the cherry shrimp tank an awesome addition would be platinum wrestling halfbeaks. They stay at the top so they don’t bother the shrimp, they stay small, and they look like they’re half gar, half arowana. I hope you get more non-fish additions for your tanks in the future to mix it up with aquatic animals like frogs, turtles, crabs, crawfish and newts.
Your surface movement is too high I think. The Co2 gets out too fast and that could be the problem with the algae because the plants cant use all the co2 ( hope my english is okay ) Greatings from germany✌✌
CELESTIAL PEARL DANIOS!!!!!! I have a shoal of 15 of them with my cherries and there have been no problems. Stunning fish for a absoluteley phenomenal tank! Great video.
Love the new additions of shrimp. I personally keep neocaridinas in almost all my tanks except with my more aggressive fish. But i think you need a new co2 diffuser, or to clean it at least. The bubbles are really big which is giving the water less time to absorb. CO2 fluctuations can cause the algae too! Good luck Joey :)
As someone with more shrimp tanks than fish tanks my favorite fish to keep with them are pygmy cories. You could get a million of them and they would look so amazing. A dozen kuhli loaches would be cool as well and you always have the classic shrimp pals, guppies. I feel like you have a hundred or so of those somewhere.
I've added Ghost Shrimp to my tank to take care of algae in my 45 gallon tank. They've done a pretty good job, cleaning off the algae from the driftwood in my tank. They've been living with my Purple Harlequin Rasbora, Scissor tail rasbora and Red Phantom Tetras. Plus a few ramhorn snails to round it out.
Well, now I think you need some bamboo shrimp as well! They'd be awesome just sitting on those giant branches and filtering the particles from the powerhead.
For the stocking on the cherry shrimp tank: you could do a small school of rainbow shiners, a larger school of white clouds (mix of normals, 24k golds, and longfin), and hillstream loaches. I have the white clouds and hillstreams in with cherries in my 29g Bowfront and it's my favorite tank of all time no one fights either. I've also kept the rainbow shiners with the shrimp and they do fine together
amano shrimps are the best choice for fighting algae and they are the only shrimp who are able to eat the long hair algae, if they are shorter every algae eater will eat them but when they are longer only amanos will. the reason of algae grow is always an imbalance of the water parameters.
I immediately figured you would be adding shrimps as soon as you talked about algee issues. But I wonder, is it really ok to bypass quarantine because they're shrimps? I would have guessed that if you're in a hurry to remove algees, you would put the fishes in a quarantine tank, and toss the shrimp in the algee heaven, but you mixed them together. Is there not cross contamination riisk between fishes and shrimps?
I had a small hair algae problem in my 7.5 gal tank so I added 4 baby Amano shrimp and stopped feeding as much. Hair algae is all gone. Didn't need to change my light time at all. Those guys are so active and ravenous when it comes to eating!!
companions for the cherry shrimp id take cherry barbs, they wont eat adults but might nip a few baby shrimplets which regulates your population. companion(s) for the amano, any danio, rasbora.
I'd imagine by now everyone already recommended shrimp tankmates for you, but I'd imagine not many people recommended halfbeaks. I have a group of 20+ wrestling halfbeaks with my shrimp and they're one of my favorite fish of all time over the almost 4 years I've had fish. Look them up and ask me about them if you have to.
The ammania bonsai you have in the back left corner of the Amano tank aren't the quickest growing stems, but when they fill out they're gorgeous. I think you should still try to utilize them in one of the planted tanks because they are GREAT given time.
Hahaha, congrats soldier! You got the fish keeper's version of 'the clap'. See the medic then get 'back on station' :) Also, I think your comment/advice about just getting the moss and shrinp for a tank is brilliant advice for the aquarist who has to keep it cheap yet fascinating. You won't see this advice in too many other places. Thanks Joey. That vid is awesome
I think you should let the cherry shrimp go nuts in there. I remember the satisfaction of seeing dozens of shrimp in my 5 gallon tank. But, I think some chili rasboras or plecos would be alright.
You should get either the golden neon tetra or albino cardinal tetra for the cherry shrimp tank. I think those fishes will make the contrast of the tank pop out even more!
I love having shrimp, so much so that I have 2 separate tanks dedicated to them along with some snails. The only problem is I want more. Have Cherry Shrimp for now but want to get different species. Still working on convincing the wife to go along with it though... ;-)
About your planted tank , you should try if you set it up again , and I am sure you will at some point set up a new planted tank, use much deeper / more substrate and than give the hole system much more time before adding fish , I know your water is all well and that you use your bio active rocks and all but if you use deeper substrate it will also be full of the good Bakterie and a lot more than just the ones in your filter , I know this comment will go no where but I still tried to say something .
Hey man a great idea for stocking options would be endlers/guppies small enough that they wont eat any shrimp but will also breed and create a incredibly active ecosystem. Very fun to watch (different levels of the tank) and a update would be really cool with the populations of both species. Love the content man and the tanks!!
Do a Betta community tank. Ive had amano shrimp with my Betta for about a year now. Havent had a single casualty. I think it would also be good to show people that with enough room you can Betta can get along.
No fish is entirely shrimp safe but there some that definitely worl with them Surface dwellers (that don't like a ton of current) like African butterfly fish, hatchetfish, and misquoto rasbora just don't cross paths. Otocinclus are really lively in shoals, eat algea, and can hardly eat them. Glass catfish, Norman's lamp eyes, kuhli loaches and threadfin rainbows have such small mouths they struggle with even the tiniest shrimplets.
I’ve don’t that before. It’s nice except that all the cherry shrimp babies don’t survive from the guppies. It’s still a really good stocking choice tho
I love seeing Joey so happy with his tanks the last couple of months. I really dislike this time of year and getting my light schedule back the way I want it. We just had a time change, plus it’s naturally getting darker earlier in the day, I have to adjust it every couple of days to keep it the way I like it, but I’m lazy and do every it 1-2 weeks, it’s not some fancy WiFi light with an app, nor a plug in with a timer, it has a timer for on and dim/turn off for white light, rgb, and blue.
I put about 15 blue jelly’s in my 9 gallon with black Moscow guppies and it’s such a absolutely phenomenal little tank. Love you’re channel. You’ve inspired me to dive deeper into this hobby just as I was about to give up on my 55 gallon mbuna tank. Now I’m up to 5 tanks running, a 125gal about to get going for my peacocks and haps and several more tanks to go. You rock man!
Good move. Maybe you can educate us by trying to breed the amanos. Yes they will devour your algae. Yes keep the shrimp alone! See what happens, mine have grown much larger in the larger tank.
For the cheery shrimp tank, you should get like a whole ton of schools of 8 tetras, rasboras, danios, and maybe even hatchetfish. Just a whole ton of different schools.
Keep an eye on your moss with those Amanos. When I kept Amanos, they stripped my Java moss and almost killed it all. That being said, they are indeed amazing at keeping algae in check. Also, I vote for letting those cherries breed and go crazy in the other tank.
Harlequin Raspbora with the Cherry Shrimp! Their natural red sheen will look great with the shrimp, and they're active schoolers that are fun to watch. 👍
In the amano tank since you have so much water flow a few bamboo shrimp could be interesting. For the cherry tank celestial pearl danio's are interesting though they might affect the shrimp breeding. A massive school of chili rasbora could also be very pretty
I have a 10-gallon tank with a veiltail betta, a handful of danios, and 5 or so ghost shrimp. It's an absolute delight to watch the shrimp going about their daily lives, picking out bits of food with their tiny little claws. So satisfying to watch them clean up.
Good content. I like seeing you deal with the plants adding fish and now shrimps and just seeing the tanks evolve. I would like you to keep some a bit more long-term and try to develop them over time. Changes are possible, but not all out and completely new. How things develop over time is extremely interesting for me.
I’d love to see you try a family build of an planted Axolotl tank, they are really amazing creatures I think the whole family would fall in love with, I know mine did and they are more challenge which is always fun!! With research of course 🤣
I WANT THAT BOOK! I built a stand out of 2 x 4 s for 90 gallon. But I used carriage bolts. You never had an issue with the screws in the end grain? Did you glue any of these joints? It looks like these were built on a concrete floor. I built mine on a wood floor and made a point of building it at right angles to the floor joints. Very helpful ideas here.
Nice I’ve been waiting ages to see you get some shrimp! I keep chilli rasbora, Pygmy Cory, celestial pearl danio and otocinclus with my crystal shrimp!!! Nano creatures in massive tanks are so good to watch
I never had problems with male or female bettas with cherry Crystal shrimp but one day I had a shrimp die and I saw the male had no problem eat the body after but the female lays no attention to them.
Love watching you having fun with the hobby, making your own choices for the bigger picture of how the tanks will pan out. Excited for you and enjoying the journey!
Shrimps are the best. Another idea is getting other coloured shrimp (examples being blue and yellow). Also you goud do a big community tank. Dwarf emerald rasboras, Boraras rasboras, celestial danios and even guppies.... But I'm looking forward to seeing what *YOU* will come up with! 🤩
The amano shrimp in my tank cleaned it overnight of all the hair algae, they’re amazing! Definitely grow out those cherries, and maybeeeee get into more inverts like pandas and pintos, etc in the future

I have the same problem. I didn't have the time to properly deal with hair algea because of school. Now I have slightly more time to deal with it. I'll buy a blade for the brown/green algae growing on the glass of my fish tank.
I am really happy you got some Shrimp for your Tanks. You should definitely try to film some closeups. Like that peaple are going to see how beautiful they look and how interesting it is to watch them eat all day long. You could also try the challenge of breeding the Amanos. It is a little bit tricky but still managable and would definitely make a great Video Series. But you probably already have to much planned :D. Keep up the great work :)
I have 1 amano in my 29 gal who's been alive for years but I'm lucky if I see it once every 3 months. I had black hair algae in the same tank, no shrimp eats that, and got rid of it without manually removing it using glutaraldehyde. It didn't affect any of my fish/plants/inverts.
I have a strong feeling that your 'Hair Algae' is going to be HISTORY in a very short time. Have you tried BLACK LIGHTING with shrimps yet? I'm just wondering if they will GLOW like Scorpions do when they are exposed to black light! If so it would be ideal to keep an eye on them, plus look awesome!
I've been too busy to keep up with your channel, but I had some time today, and dude, you seem so much more relaxed and happy in your most recent videos, the gallery looks beautiful too, awesome job
I wanna see a school of hatchet fish so badly lol. I think they may do good with the shrimp and help disperse the niches the organisms would occupy. Also the hatchet fish wouldn't be bothering the shrimp I think because of their size, where they swim, and their mouth size as well. If I am wrong about their behavior lmk, but I wouldn't think they would go for shrimp
In the cherry shrimp tank it would be cool if you put the guppy’s in there and bristlenose plecos. By doing this it would be like a big breeding for profit tank.
Honey Gourami's probably won't eat shrimp, sparking ones too. I think they'd look cool in either tank, however they'll rip up the hairgrass so maybe the one with the red cherrys.
🌶️ rasboras or neon rasboras. A blue neon goby. Possibly some kooli loaches and then move your guppies over as well with the cherry shrimp and call it a day.
Amano shrimp were the only thing in my tank that I could consistently keep alive. Ive kept them with a dwarf gourami, killifish, and a beta, they never ate any of the shrimp but the shrimp did hide more
Imported shrimp are not super hardy, you might experience deaths. Neocaridina do prefer hard water, buffering substrate isn’t ideal. Co2 can be problematic with shrimp. I think you might visually enjoy shrimp more in a 10-30 gallon aquarium. Good luck!! 🙏
The hitchhiker in the anemone tank is a porcelain anemone crab. It's an added bonus.
I know what it is. Had it for a couple months. There are actually 2. I just haven’t updated on that tank yet.
Just let them go nuts and then when they’re over populated, just feed the extras to your other fish. 🤷♀️ it’s the best way to handle it and it’s a good treat for your other fish

Loving the direction this channel is going...plants-yes! Shrimp-YES!!!

A dozen kuhli loaches would be cool as well and you always have the classic shrimp pals, guppies. I feel like you have a hundred or so of those somewhere.
You could also get dwarf CPO crayfish breeding which would be real fun and they would look amazing climbing up those branches.
The gallery looks so much better now! Polished, professional, colorful, interesting... Keep it up!
I think hatchetfish would look good with the shrimp. You’d get top fish and bottom shrimp
Well, now I think you need some bamboo shrimp as well! They'd be awesome just sitting on those giant branches and filtering the particles from the powerhead.
Do a colourful shrimp tank! 50 gallons would look so good with a large mix of colours!
Yes
Ooh shrimp
No... the shrimp would turn brown after a year of interbreeding... not worth it.
@@Haytchtwoalt I was about to say it's not worth it unless they are all the same color.
They would all be wilds in a month or two.

I would suggesta school of Rasbora Galaxy, and Emerald Rasbora with the cherry shrimp.
Yes! 🙌💜❤️
rasboras will hunt shrimplets for sure
Chili raspboras with the cherry shrimp! Red on Red looks super cool, especially when contrasted with dense greenery
Oh shoot.. jumping into the shrimp game :)
again :D
Hahaha, congrats soldier! You got the fish keeper's version of 'the clap'. Hatchet fish with the cherry shrimp. They're a surface swimming fish that are like tin foil that schools. Something to look into.

Keep your calcium, iron levels high and they breed like crazy and you can use them as food.
Harlequin rasbora with the shrimp

Why not do a turtle tank or axolotl tank?
be careful with the filter holes... my shrimps used to finish inside of the filter all the time... until i put a a cover in the filter...
50 ember tetra would look amazing in the cherry tank! 😜
I put about 15 blue jelly’s in my 9 gallon with black Moscow guppies and it’s such a absolutely phenomenal little tank. Love you’re channel. Ember tetras do great with cherry shrimp, wont touch the fry
Good move. Maybe you can educate us by trying to breed the amanos. Yes they will devour your algae.
Yes keep the shrimp alone! See what happens, mine have grown much larger in the larger tank.
Have I missed a video adding anemones to the salt water tank!!!???? 😭😭😭😭😭😭
For the cheery shrimp tank, you should get like a whole ton of schools of 8 tetras, rasboras, danios, and maybe even hatchetfish. Just a whole ton of different schools.
Shrimp: SO MUCH ROOM FOR ACTIVITIIIEEEESSSSSS WOOOOOOOOOOO

Lol shrimp!!!!so cool bro when they breed ul have to send amano shrimp to you best subscribers....knowing it came from u would be an honor 😁😁😁
That would be so awesome just remember joey im 1 of your best subscribers 🤗
Me 2☺☺
Harlequin Raspbora with the Cherry Shrimp! Their natural red sheen will look great with the shrimp, and they're active schoolers that are fun to watch. 👍
I HAVE BEEN WATCHING YOU SINCE MIDDLE SCHOOL IM NOW A SENIOR IN HIGH SCHOOL you have legit been my inspiration for years
In the amano tank since you have so much water flow a few bamboo shrimp could be interesting. For the cherry tank celestial pearl danio's are interesting though they might affect the shrimp breeding. A massive school of chili rasbora could also be very pretty
Can you set up an axolotl tank?

Quickest way to get rid of hear algae is a few Rosy Barbs. Thank me later. :)

I think neon tetras and cherry shrimp go well together
Most fish keepers keep only freshwater or saltwater. Or monster fish or community fish. But Joey keep all of those fish!! Me dream fish room!!
you should stock the cherry shrimp tank with celestial pearl danios.
I’d love to see you try a family build of an planted Axolotl tank, they are really amazing creatures I think the whole family would fall in love with, I know mine did and they are more challenge which is always fun!! With research of course 🤣
Betta fish with the cherries
Bruh bettas destroy shrimp
I WANT THAT BOOK!
I built a stand out of 2 x 4 s for 90 gallon. But I used carriage bolts. You never had an issue with the screws in the end grain? Did you glue any of these joints? It looks like these were built on a concrete floor. I built mine on a wood floor and made a point of building it at right angles to the floor joints.
Very helpful ideas here.
Betta sorority with the shrimp!! Please!!
Nice I’ve been waiting ages to see you get some shrimp! I keep chilli rasbora, Pygmy Cory, celestial pearl danio and otocinclus with my crystal shrimp!!! Nano creatures in massive tanks are so good to watch
put female bettas with the cherry shrimp i have some in with mine and they are not fighting at all
I never had problems with male or female bettas with cherry Crystal shrimp but one day I had a shrimp die and I saw the male had no problem eat the body after but the female lays no attention to them.
Love watching you having fun with the hobby, making your own choices for the bigger picture of how the tanks will pan out.

First enjoy this video everyone and have a great day 😁
Thanks
@@BenThomson887 your welcome
Column feeder plants have always helped me control my algae. Mostly stem plants. I also have snails, but not everyone likes those in the tank.
❤️❤️ love from south africa ❤️❤️
The amano shrimp in my tank cleaned it overnight of all the hair algae, they’re amazing! Definitely grow out those cherries, and maybeeeee get into more inverts like pandas and pintos, etc in the future
I know they are common, but 100 neons would be awesome with the cherry shrimp
Adjusting your CO2 will help with the algae as well. Placing the diffuser across from the circulation pump will diffuse more. As well as a quality diffuser like an aquarium.
I some how hoped it was a octopus
should do a mini series of tanks with algae issues with different ways to cure them.. you have done hair algae now but you should set up one of those nano tanks and infest it with black beard to demonstrate how to get rid of that as well :)
I legit just clicked on this video because hey its something to watch and IMMEDIATELY you solved my problem with the hair algae
Who else cought the perfect timeing at 12:25
A red cherry shrimp only tank would be an awesome project. Especially for the long term
Do fancy guppys with the cherry shrimp
I have 1 amano in my 29 gal who's been alive for years but I'm lucky if I see it once every 3 months. I had black hair algae in the same tank, no shrimp eats that, and got rid of it without manually removing it using glutaraldehyde. It didn't affect any of my fish/plants/inverts.
Big vote to let the cherries go nuts. They are so beautiful!
Axolotl (the Mexican walking fish) would be a hit on your channel!!!!
Next video will be a 120g seamonky tank lol
I have a strong feeling that your 'Hair Algae' is going to be HISTORY in a very short time. Have you tried BLACK LIGHTING with shrimps yet? I'm just wondering if they will GLOW like Scorpions do when they are exposed to black light! If so it would be ideal to keep an eye on them, plus look awesome!
Let the cherries breed then go female Bettas like you originally wanted, I think that would be amazing, and it's a very beginner level tank
I've been too busy to keep up with your channel, but I had some time today, and dude, you seem so much more relaxed and happy in your most recent videos, the gallery looks beautiful too, awesome job
Put a single male betta in 120 gallons 😂
I wanna see a school of hatchet fish so badly lol. I think they may do good with the shrimp and help disperse the niches the organisms would occupy.
