I give as well, but it's not a mandated percentage. I give to Israel and support children all across the world that live in poverty. I do have an issue giving to the local church when they use the money to support Easter egg hunts and certain Christmas events that are not Biblical and definitely are worldly.

Tithing is giving to the Lord. Where ever you are, in whatever your doing. Tithing is not just cash. You should give of your time, your talents, and your resources which includes money.

Amen... I really believe that's the more accurate fuller meaning of 'tithing' . Tithing I believe, is about giving to the greater Church body of Christ and reaching out to those among the people as the Holy Spirit directs and calls. But giving 10% to any local mega church, or any single church for that matter ??? I'd want to see their books... including all salaries and total operating costs and financing costs, outstanding debts, loans, etc...
That said... I'd also humbly encourage this Pastor to urgently examine his personal health lifestyle given his physical appearance and sadly evident body weight. If there is such excess in one's caloric intake that one is at additional risk, it should be corrected ✌

Giving is the one way the Lord says we can test Him. Usually you dont want to test the Lord.(Deuteronomy 6:16)(Luke 4:12)(Acts 5:9) It will not generally work out in your favor. But in giving I challenge you, test Him, I seriously challenge you! You cannot out give God! He is faithful always. Test the Lord in your giving! (Malachi 3:10)...

I also don't find Jesus directly telling anyone to tithe. However, I would apply the teachings of Jesus to giving tithes, at least Matthew 6:2-4; 6:20, Luke 6:31-38, Mark 12:15-17

I totally agree with the fact we are to be generous and give to people and the work of the LORD, however the issue I have are the pastors that preach and teach unbiblical doctrine to people in an attempt to prosper off people. Jesus and others did teach we are to be aware in the last days of deception that will be running rampant. THERE IS NO MANDATE TO GIVE A PRESCRIBED AMOUNT OF INCOME TO THE CHURCH, those are lies and we know who the author of lies is. @@samm6937

Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and to God what belongs to God.
Also, the early church sold their extra possessions so that no one would have too much, and no one would have too little... They gave freely, not under compulsion.
Which was why when Ananias and Sapphira lied about selling some land and said they gave All the money to the church, it was bad, because they could have just said what the price was, and that they were choosing to give a certain amount, and keep the rest.
It was fraudulent, and the church is not supposed to be built on lies and deceit.
Paul wanted to see widows, and old, infirm people taken care of, and orphans, and not neglected.
But otherwise, you should work doing something constructive.

@@cori1302 All very true, but I have a problem with the " give to CAESAR what is Caesar's" The government does not have a right to the possessions of the people, that is down right thievery and one of the ten commandments is " thou shalt not steal" so I'm not sure what Jesus meant by that statement because he would not contradict himself. I do agree we should give freely without compulsion and there is NO set amount. Tithing in the old testament was done by farmers, and it was always agricultural in nature, not money. It was not paid by iron workers and clothes makers etc. The " church" has twisted this to guilt people into giving money so they can prosper from it.

Certainly helping the church financially is important. But intimidation and coercion is not appropriate. Jesus didn’t have the financial issues we have today. People should be allowed to give what they can, not to be TOLD and given a bill!!

You don't think The Creator of the Universe knew what times would be like in our day ? It's kinda like folks who "we are no longer under the law." Jesus said "I came to fulfill the law." Jesus also told us "if we lust after a woman in our mind, you have committed adultery." The Christian life isn't always easy, but God desires obedience on our part. One day shortly we (those who have put their faith in Christ) will live forever in God's home. That alone should make obedience easier for us to accept.

There’s no intimidation or coercion in his message, only a message of what the Scripture plainly tells us. You are right that Jesus did not have our present day financial situations. We are all filthy rich by comparison to His time on earth! No one is given a “bill” to pay, only challenged to be obedient to God in their giving.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 which the pastor uses right up front does not mention money in any way, unless you use the perverted version from the NIV.

There’s many Scriptures that speak about giving God our first and our best of our increase. This pastor touched on many of them. God is honored when we put Him first in our giving and worship. He also has a plan for the work of building His kingdom to be financed. Many don’t want to tithe or believe it is relevant because they don’t want to give up those dollars, not so much that they don’t believe it is biblical. But churches have expenses to keep the doors open just as any household would have. They don’t get land, buildings, electricity or water for free. They also can’t help those in financial difficulty or “go into all the world and preach the gospel” for free. It costs something. God has a plan.

Jesus don't need our money! Just listen to that, why would he need our money when he owns it anyway, plus it sounds like you are saying you have to Tithe in order to be blessed! Wow! Jesus never charged one sent when he taught the word! Now these Pastors have mansions while their members are barely scraping by! Take care! Tithing was for the Jews in the Old Testament! Study it for yourself folks!

Jesus also said when you give you given private. Not in a tray going around passing from people-to-people in your church. Making people feel bad because the person next to them. Put in $50 or a $100. It should be done secretly. And are you people helping the needy in your church? That's my question.

I have to wonder if you attend a church to know what they are and are not doing? Or do you judge them to find fault from outside? You’d do well to come inside and join us in doing a better job. I wonder how Jesus knew the rich Pharisees gave much out of their abundance, but that the poor widow gave a small coin, yet it was all she had, and He was pleased by that. Hmmm . . . they must have given openly.

You should practice the former without leaving the latter undone. He is saying you should give 10% without neglecting the love of God but of course we can give more if it's in our heart to do that

I haven’t watched the video yet, but I came across your comment first I know that Old Testament law stated that farmers should leave 1/10 of their field for gleaning but if only agricultural things where tithed where did the Pharisees get the wealth that they thought would be in danger because of Jesus’s teaching, and where do you think the church would be today if no one tithed to cover expenses ( The workman is worthy of his hire ) is a scripture reference relating to but not exclusively tied to people in the mission field being paid to provide for their needs as theirs is a full time job where society doesn’t provide a paycheck, money is a more common means of meeting needs than wheat ,I get sick and tired of people who believe all churches and pastors are greedy money mongers , if it bothers you then don’t tithe and God will deal with you at the judgement seat.
